Paso - I got bored and stopped watching... AS - Dull Samba - flat footed. They are commenting based on flesh not technique. It was very stop-start

QS - Joe's best ballroom by far. A proper dance from start to finish (though the announcement at the beginning was cringe)

Jive - didn't like the choreo. It was repetitive - and not in a good way. It will get 40 and not deserve it.

Just tuning in from the start. Out of interest, do the dances get longer now there are fewer contestants, or the boring bits in between longer?

I always think the jive and quick step are 2 of the strangest dances. Jive looks like you are trying to shake a bit of toilet roll off your shoe and quickstep is just really fast walking around the floor.

Gloria Estefan has had so much work done. Crikey.
Was the ginger dancer whose wife kissed Sean(n) dancing with his wife? All the girls looked the same with those plumes on their heads.

I am the same. I can't fault technique - but she isn't someone I can warm to. Yes, her past dance experience is part of that. But it is also because she seems to be doing the show to show off rather than learn. I know the whole journey thing is talked about too much - but she started so high up that she hasn't actually shown significant improvement. She is good. But others have developed more and are thus more interesting as competitors.

I feel like I’ve only just met Charles.
HELLO CHARLES! 🙂
That dance was perfect for him and he looked very sexy.
I’m wondering why none of the judges have commented on Joe’s pigeon toes. His feet are permanently pointed inwards. This used to get called out regularly but do you think they’ve been told to stop judging based on physical characteristics? I can understand why if that’s the case given that you can’t actuallyhelp it if you’ve got feet that turn in or outwards. It just struck me as being very obvious tonight.
That fabulous ex pro was spotted during Ashley’s jive. Australian girl who danced a jive to Hit The Road Jack with some bloke off Eastenders years ago and it was like she was on springs. Amazing. What’s she called? I love her 😘

Let's separate the wheat from the chaff, eh? Second year in and Shirley is really coming into her own and she really knows her stuff! Kudos to her! Guess we can all predict one of the couples in the bottom tow, but who would do you reckon the second couple be? Katie? Sean? I still reckon Charles is the one to watch throughout. Remember when I said this? I rest my case. He was AMAZING!

Just watching the backstage for Stacey and Kevin (?) and I am concerned that Joe Suggs has been costumed as a ventriloquist’s dummy. Give him an monocle and put him on Ray Alan’s arm...

Yes I know who you mean. She got married and came back as dance commentator on take two a few times. Name? I thought Charles was very good. I wonder why he was not so good to start with. Joe overmarked and Lauren undermarked. But that's Strictly.

Yes. I saw her on tour with Ian Waite. She is an absolute gorgeous goddess. Charles was awesome (my sweepstake still looking good!) and I loved Faye's paso as well. What fabulous music and I adored her dress. Lauren was lumpy and laboured and Graeme merely skipped around the floor. I also liked Joe's quickstep. Has Karen ever had a 10 before? Darcy and Shirley need to learn to speak English properly. Even Bruno speaks better. It's driving me mad. There is no such word as 'prurriffeal.' And a Dame of the realm really should know her singular from her plural and also that it is would HAVE not would OF. Aaaaaahhhhgggggggghhh! Lauren and Graeme bottom 2 I think. Anyone else have the sound totally out of synch? The recorded first part of the show had Gloria singing more than a second behind the sound and the dancers were obviously out of time as well. Strangely, on the telly in the kitchen (which we know is tuned to a different tower as we get different adverts from the one in the lounge - no idea why) was only very slightly behind.

That was a fun show. I want to see a couple of the dances, starting with Charles, again. With three of them on 38 that makes it very tight in the upper half of the leader board. I think Lauren/Graeme bottom two as well.

It was Natalie Lowe who was in the previous version of Rip It Up with Louis Smith and Jay McGuinness using music of the 1950s and she was credited as being the originator of the idea and also of creating the choreography – she was also brilliant as a performer. I didn't get a programme for the current 1960s version (mainly because I went home in the interval) I but I don't think she had any involvement in the show, which may well be why it was so inferior in every way to the 1950s one!

As usual - costumes mostly dreadful and some of the dance styles almost unrecognisable.
Although the Tower Ballroom looks spectacular, the space is huge and needs to be filled, so I know why they have the extra dancers to make more of a production out of it. But, as ever I think the actual couples get a bit "lost" and the production elements too distracting from the actual dancing.
Cannot really put my finger on it but still struggling to engage with series and I'm usually totally invested.

Cannot really put my finger on it but still struggling to engage with series and I'm usually totally invested. Apart from Faye's and Giovanni's perhaps? (I also thought Karen's and Charles' were pretty good.) I'd normally agree with what you say about the extra dancers and giant production at Blackpool. I usually find it messy and painful on the eyes. However, for the first time ever, I really thought the backing dancers worked well this year. The girls who had to do lifts with different boys were incredibly brave and it really ramped up the difficulty factor for me. Also, I probably won't ever agree with Shirley again, but Charles' first bit he did with the 2 pros behind him was breathtaking and actually showed just how good he was at this style of dance. Totally agree with not being invested this year. Something's off. Oh, and those 2 visiting acro-dancers at the beginning - that was verging on the obscene - look away now children, but I honestly thought he was going in for a munch...

When Tess introduced the singers and Dave Arch after the first couple had danced, where they all wearing really casual clothes, or did I imagine it? (I wasn't even in drink at that stage!) I think one of the singers even had a woolly hat on.
It was as though someone in the gallery pressed the wrong button, and showed a segment recorded during the rehearsal.

I thought that too, they cut to them live usually but maybe went to stand by film but why they would do a pre-record of what they do each week I don't know. Also I was trying to think who the person who turned out to be Natalie Lowe was, maybe as her hair was a bit shorter and she wasn't stood up as her height and legs would have made it obvious. Is Stacey trying to be a budding pop star she has burst into song several times now, I know her voice can be irritating but you have to like her. Gloria Estefan stuck to her 2nd type of songs the uptempo latino pop as opposed to 1st type the ballads.

Yes, Dave Arch had a white t-shirt on. It was very very odd.

I thought the cricketer and Oti’s free dance was incredibly pedestrian. They got a West End choreographer in and THATS what they came up with? I could have done that, just messing about with a hat and an umbrella. Very very poor.
Giovanni looked a bit of alright in that seethrough top didn’t he? Hardly noticed The Taser!
