I'm going Tuesday night, very excited. Can't remember where I'm sat, think it was Row A.

I'm guessing if Stephen stays then he'll become lead with a new alternate? I would say that's a possibility but not I given. I think it depends on who they find. If they think that Stephen is their best option (as I imagine was the case with Gary) then he'll get the promotion, but if they find someone they prefer then Stephen could well stay where he is.

Is it just me or has the ticketing system on the website changed? It automatically redirects to seetickets which says 'sorry there are no shows for 42nd street right now#. Is anyone else seeing this? I need my £15 AA fix! Really Useful are in the process of migrating to a new ticketing system so it could be a broken link that's giving you issues - I've just been in through reallyusefultheatres.co.uk and it seems to be playing ball for me.

Again, there is no reason to cite every excuse under the sun as to why she may not have been someone’s favourite. As much as there are many reasons as to why she’s your favourite, there are many reasons why she may not be someone else’s favourite... It's a bit like religion AliceFearnFan2212, believe it all you want just don't ram it down my throat! Amen to that.

Hey all, New to this forum so please don't be too harsh on me haha! As someone who used to go to London a lot to see shows, now funds don't allow this and I rely on the stuff that appears on youtube! Does anyone know where I can hear something with Lily or Jocasta as Deena? Preferably Listen? I saw both in another show and am interested to hear them as Deena having seen Lisii a couple of times! Thanks Welcome to the board, George of course, we can't post links on here due to the obvious illegality, but have a look on YouTube and/or Reddit and you might find what you're after...you might not, I'm not sure what's out there!

To the best of my knowledge there is still going to be two alternates. I'm just cautious to say things with any definiteness, as it's been a while since I last had an update and we all know how quickly these things can change!

I booked my ticket for the 18th anyway. Anyone going? Me too. I don't know the ins and outs of who's going and staying, but the last that I heard was that it was supposedly going to be a big one with most of the leads changing.

Didn't someone once say that Hannah is in fact the fifth cover midwife? I hope tonight's audience appreciate the magnitude of this special occasion. Well, she's the 4th cover midwife, making her the 5th midwife overall. That's close enough for me!

Does anyone have the updated seating chart for the theatre, as used during the booking process last January? @theatremonkey has a very much provisional seating plan on his site which may be the closest thing we have at this stage.

My first preview tickets have been automatically transferred to the new first preview. Exact same seats in the front stalls. Very efficiently done.
Just debating whether to exchange or refund my second booking. I'm already going in February and June (as well as now December), so not sure I need the 4th trip!

Sorry nash16, reading back I realise I sounded quite blunt...allow me to explain What I was getting at at the time was that whilst SB was looking at the Picc, nothing was confirmed, and Annie did end up extending...but I'll let you have this one Agreed, I think it's gonna be great!

I remember when Melissa Jacques took over briefly as Morrible because Louise had gotten ill (tragically in hindsight), and because it was a last minute thing, Melissa wore the first costume for the entire show. to the best of my knowledge, the understudy Morribles only have one or two costumes.

From what I've heard there's definitely another Spice Girls musical on the way. Whether that ends up being a Viva Forever revival or something new, I don't know.

Ooh I like it when we play this game ELPHABA: 1. Nikki Davis Jones (x4) 2. Rachel Tucker (x5) 3. Willemijn Verkaik (x3) 4. Louise Dearman (x1) 5. Alice Fearn (x1) 6. Jemma Alexander (x1) 7. Hayley Gallivan (x1) 8. Jacqueline "Jax" Hughes (x2) 9. Emma Hatton (x1) GLINDA: 1. Louise Dearman (x3) 2. Emily Tierney (x3) 3. Suzie Mathers (x5) 4. Gina Beck (x4) 5. Savannah Stevenson (x2) 6. Carly Anderson (x1) 7. Sophie Evans (x1) FIYERO: 1. Mark Evans (x2) 2. Oliver Saville (x6) 3. Matt Willis (x2) 4. Bradley Jaden (x2) 5. Samuel Edwards (x2) 6. Liam Doyle (x2) 7. Lewis Bradley (x1) 8. Ben Freeman (x2) BOQ: 1. George Ure (x2) 2. Daniel Hope (x1) The ones in the middle were all meh, Idriss Kargbo was my least favourite by some way. NESSAROSE: Zoe Rainey is my fave. MORRIBLE: Julie Legrand, followed by Sue Kelvin and Marilyn Cutts. THE WIZARD: Clive Carter, followed by Andy Hockley DILLAMOND: Probably Martin Ball, but it's a bit of a nothing part really isn't it.

Indeed they do. It's in the contracts, they go together! Does the contract also stipulate the size of everyone's part?

If Carina is planning to return after her maternity, I would imagine that they will appoint a previous standby or understudy to cover her for the sake of minimal rehearsal and potentially reusing costumes/wigs. However if Carina intends to not come back long term after her maternity then I would say there is just as much chance of a "new" standby being cast.

I'm clearly in a minority over Alice's acting. It was fine, if a bit hammy for me, but each to their own! Also two things to note. During the Sentimental Man Reprise with the Mother and Salesman in the background, there was no vocals at all, which made for a very awkward moment of silence with them just dancing before that little piece of music comes in! And when did they change the curtain call so that Fiyero bows last before the girls rather than the Wizard? Is it a recent change with this cast? Re Sentimental Man reprise - my guess is that it was an issue with the recorded vocals! Re the bows - in all the times I've seen the show I can't say I've ever noticed who bows when other than the girls being last!

Just got in from the show...my thoughts:
Alice Fearn - credit where credit is due, she's very good. No Good Deed was by far her strongest song. Her acting is very very good. I like Elphabi who really act through their singing - Alice for me was the first to really do that since Nikki DJ. Of course that's not to say that the others don't act during their songs, of course they do, but there's a certain something that I can't quite put my finger on that makes me connect to an Elphaba's act/singing, and it's only really been Nikki and now Alice that I've felt that. That said, before this turns into a 5* review of Alice (which it isn't), she has some serious downfalls to her performance which really bugged me. First up, the r**fs. They worked fine in No Good Deed, it suits the song and the general mood, Elphaba is on a bit of a mad one so it makes sense. But all through the show it felt she was chucking in riffs at every possible moment. Keep it in a concert please. Some of them ("flying solo" during DG comes to mind) really jarred, and broke the flow for me. It's really quite frustrating as she has a bloody good voice. If she'd sang the part to score, and literally just belted the crap out of it, she'd probably be getting plaudits from me. The other thing that bugged me was that at times I felt she was rushing. The most memorable was during the cat fight scene - she was jumping ahead of Glinda so much so that she couldn't even finish her lines. Obviously I know the show, but I wonder if it would be confusing for a first timer. So, summary of Alice Fearn - she's good. Very good. But a few things stopping her from being great. I know everyone loves a good Elphaba ranking, Alice sits in the middle, somewhere between Willemijn/Louise and Jemma Alexander.
Now, Sophie Evans. Dear oh dear. I don't want to be disrespectful, but she's so woefully miscast in this. She has a lovely voice and can clearly act, but she just is not funny. All of the humour was so forced. I just couldn't get on board with it. Generally wooden performance. Her Thank Goodness was very strong vocally, but I would say that all of her other songs where somewhat under par. Even in the opening number, she was cutting lines short. Sadly under par, and probably the weakest Glinda I've seen.
Bradley Jason is a very good Fiyero. Probably the strongest vocally we've had, I'm still not 100% sure on some of his acting. He can be a bit shouty at times, which part of me likes and part of me doesn't. A good addition to the cast overall I'd say.
Boq - no idea who the actor was, but he was just a standard Boq. Nothing new, nothing special and nothing bad. Just like most Boq's before him!
Really liked the new Wizard, it's always nice when we get one who can actually sing. Still miss Clive Carter though all these years later.
Melanie La Barrie a very good Morrible. Not as scary as Sue Kelvin but a heck of a lot sassier. I liked it.
Orchestra a little ropey tonight sadly. I love the score, but there were a good few blips through the show, and I swear the timing was briefly out during the flying section at the end of Act I.
All in all, the new cast are good. Just good. I don't think that they're going to provide a much needed injection of energy like the 10th anniversary cast did, but it's still early days. I will try and head black later in their contract to see if there's been any change in the performances.
