Gutted that I can't get to this tonight now - sadly have been diagnosed with a blood clot and can barely stand let alone get to the theatre! Been trying the theatre number to see if they can sell my ticket on (I know no refunds but would far rather have someone in that seat enjoying the show than it be left empty!) but just find myself on hold for ages so looks like there will be an empty seat after all. Hope all those going have a fabulous time - I'll be with you in spirit

Could there be a 'General theatre chat' section (call it something catchy like The Green Room) and then a section called something like 'Off topic' for all the TV, movies, politics etc (call it The Bar)? Sounds like a good idea - as someone who doesn't watch TV I've often clicked on a thread only to find it's a TV show I have no interest in. If all in one general chart forum then it really does help if people can put either TV or film in brackets so I can avoid them.

I've been wanting this show to appear for what feels like forever - but a concert version at ENO with their ridiculous water policy and horrible ticket prices?! Just hope it inspires interest in the show so we get a proper production somewhere.

7pm starts would mean I could only go on a day off as no chance of getting to a theatre in time from work that early! I do agree that a really long show should start then but in general no thanks. Sundays instead of a weeknight also get thumbs down from me as I work Sundays so it would just be another performance I couldn't manage.

Sorry, I don't know specific venues - it can also depend on artist/producer as some of them insist on it too. One of my friends missed out on something a while back with tickets from them so I steer clear.

Some venues now block tickets sold by them so be careful - you could get there and not be admitted!

I rarely post on this thread being somewhat wary of social media but oh my goodness, how amazing is this?! This is one of my projects at Kensington Palace and something I’m passionate about so this kind of recognition for the work my incredible group of guides and interpreters do has absolutely made my day! www.euansguide.com/news/our-round-up-of-the-uks-top-signed-tours/

danb They did both of those in Italy last year and Starmaker had me in tears as they had images of all those cast members no longer with us on a screen for it!

It's just one place as it's been organised - and financed - by fans of the show who have got this group together with all profit going to a children's hospice charity so not a promoter or anything like that.

Peter Polycarpou and I'm there! Casting the daughters will also be interesting, Alexandra Silbur's Hodel was fabulous and will take a lot of living up to for me.

Thoroughly enjoyed my first Fringe and hoping it won't be the last (although money and amount of leave from work play a part in that!). In three days I saw 20 shows, an exhibition. had dinner with friends and drinks with friends. Discovered I'm not quite as unfit as I thought I was - either that or pure adrenalin carried me from one end of Edinburgh to the other.
Thankfully all the shows I chose were good, some better than others but nothing I wish I'd left out in favour of something else. Favourites were 'Eat Me', 'Ailsa Benson is Missing', 'Violet', 'Amours of Lillie Langtry' and 'Margaret Thatcher Queen of Soho' I usually see more musicals at the theatre yet it was plays that stood out for me here for a change.

I reserve stage door for a handful of people as I'm not that comfortable with it but I will stage door for any of the actors from the tv show Dallas - one of very few tv shows I love. Having read a fair bit about 'diva' re Priscilla Presley I was a tad nervous but she couldn't have been lovelier, or quicker. She was straight there having just changed her clothes, left the make up on and gone round saying she didn't want people waiting in the cold. Happily signed, posed for pics and chatted, answered questions about Elvis and even asked one lady to send her a copy of the photo she had of Elvis with Priscilla as she's never seen it before.
Just goes to show don't believe what others say about someone, make your own mind up if you meet them!

Hating it! I like my temperatures in single figures so an ordinary summer is too hot for me let alone this one. In addition I work in an old building which retains heat and has no air conditioning - most rooms were between 31 and 34 degrees yesterday. Roll on winter which is my happy time, I never complain of being cold.

If anyone has an early evening slot they're not sure what to do with do give this a try - tickets.edfringe.com/whats-on/eat-me I saw it last year at a one off performance and looking forward to seeing it again. The only problem I have with my time there is the amount of things I#d love to see but just can't make fit in. Why can't Fringe days be 48 hours instead of 24?!

I'm not physically fit but am used to being on my feet all day so the moving between shows appeals - sitting in those will be enough for me! Some I've removed as just too tight, others are a nice gap and others time to stop for food and wander. Thankfully I've been to Edinburgh a few times so have an idea of the geography and have already done the tourist stuff which helps.

Going for the first time this year, trying to sort out as I'm only there 2.5 days and it's a logistical nightmare! Can anyone tell me if shows tend to finish at pretty much the times they say they are, some of the ones I want to fit in leave quite a narrow time between them?
My list has narrowed, narrowed and narrowed again but I think I'm nearly there. Going for the brilliant play 'Eat Me' which I saw last year in it's first outing so working around that with a mix of other things that take my fancy.

These out and about meetings with actors sound so clandestine, almost illicit. Secret nods in the street, furtive smiles across the aisle of a tube train.... very exciting! Sadly I’m so bad with faces that Meryl Streep could stop me in the street and ask for directions and I wouldn’t clock a thing. Great example as I did manage a fifteen minute conversation with Meryl Streep at work once and had no idea! I'm another who rarely recognises people so on the rare occasions I do I'm usually too proud of myself for knowing who they are to worry about going over to them.

ENO or Curve - that means a trip to the Curve from London then! Have been hoping for this one to come over, I'm not a massive fan of juke box musicals but for Gloria Estefan's music I'll live with it - unless, of course, she plans some concerts in the UK at the same time.

According to the copyright course I attended for work if a photo is taken specifically of you then you own what's called 'the moral copyright' and would have the right to sue.
Of course, if the tickets/terms conditions have that handy disclaimer that by attending you are agreeing to possibly having your photo taken during the evening and used then you've given that away and they can do as they please.
It then depends on the morality and discretion of the theatre - looks like there isn't much of that at Her Majesty's unless someone makes that FOH person take it down and apologise.

Food is fair enough but making people throw away water is ridiculous - particularly with their over priced tickets! It costs enough to just go there, when I was at Chess there was no water freely available at the bar, staff said they were too busy to keep refilling the jugs. Clearly just a way of getting extra revenue, and of making me decide I have to REALLY want to see something to go there again.

The key to keeping things pleasant is to put the people who rile you up/ you can’t resist arguing with on ignore. That way you don’t get tempted into interactions with people who bring out the worst with you (and the people who are actually trolling don’t get what they want: a response). That only works to an extent - you still see what they've put when they're quoted by others!

I just saw this... The staff at the Palladium were asked to report back on any complaints about there being a bit too much Dick. None thus far apparently... Surely most people would realise that Julian Clary plus Dick Whittington means an evening of smutty innuendo wouldn't they? That would account for the wonderfully low number of children in the audience the night I went as it's clearly more one for the adults although the few children near me seemed to have a great time and much of the innuendo passed them by.

Where I work we often have late guests waiting half an hour or more for an Uber - all other firms and black cabs find us easily enough yet everyone, staff and guests, are left standing and working for longer than expected due to Uber drivers. They are certainly not a company I would ever use after seeing this happen time and time again.
Agree with TM - black cab drivers have it tough, they are told when they will have meter fare changes with no choice about it and even have to pay for the upgrades themselves which can take weeks to get back at maybe 50p a trip!

Re change it can depend on the theatre as I've had it in coins but also tokens - the tokens do go down to £1 ones and I've had one of those for goodness knows how long!
