Reporting a theatre for unfair/bad behaviour - the Coliseum last night was making everyone throw their bottles of water away so you would buy their overpriced ones as part of their 'security measures'. This on the hottest day of the year in a baking hot theatre led to many unhappy people complaining and even longer toilet queues as people just drank whole bottles on entry!

It's a lovely venue and even the back is close with a great view! I've been on my own, another who doesn't drink, and felt totally comfortable there with a soft drink before the show so go and have fun

It certainly isn't that bad! I'm still planning on going a second time once it's settled in a bit and I know to sit non centrally re the set.
The cast were amazing, any cast who gets through an open dress with only one stop have to be good, even more so when that includes kids.
My comments when I first went were meant as constructive feedback - hence giving reasoning for things - and I would hope that came across. To be this negative is astounding as the show in no way deserves it

Saw it on Monday - open dress rehearsal instead of 1st preview! It felt like a work in progress as already stated - somehow it didn't get to my emotions and seemed more like telling facts through music rather than a full blown story. The costumes meant that it wasn't always easy to determine who was who and I rather disliked the idea of black and white for the blind and sighted as being too clinical.
Re the set - first time I've come out of a show with motion sickness. I do think that had a bearing on my lack of enjoyment, did it really need to turn so often?
I'm glad I saw it and do try to support new musicals, however, my ultimate feeling is that this could be good but needs far greater development and depth than it currently offers.

Classic behaviour in Malvern seeing Elaine Paige on Saturday night - the people behind me tutting and complaining about other audience members coming in to sit down so late (actually with still over five minutes before it started) and how rude they were, why not just arrive earlier etc etc, so rude being the constant refrain. Then they proceeded to chat fairly loudly throughout the support! For people who considered coming in late, albeit before the show started, to be rude the fact that they chatted all the way through the next twenty minutes was unbelievable - I moved after the interval rather than have to murder them if they continued.

I would love 'Jack the Ripper' to be revived as it's such a fabulous show - when the cd came out I played it constantly and it's still a favourite!

Ok, so only a handful of show songs with most being from her favourite songwriters so mainly 60's/70's. It's a great show and fun to see her doing new material rather than the same show ones but if that's what you prefer maybe not your thing. All I can say is that the audiences seem to enjoy it judging by the reaction at Canterbury on Sunday.

As a German I immensely enjoyed the last episode, they couldn't have made Albert more stiff-uptight-typically German if they tried! Amused by the English actors' German. Lovely stuff overall, makes me consider pootling off to Coburg to take a look at the place. Having been I can honestly say that Schloss Rosenau where Albert was brought up is beautiful and well worth a visit!

There will be a mix of many songs she hasn't sung before from her own favourite songwriters along with the big musical ones that are expected from her such as 'Memory' if that's any help to you now.

Sadly not although I know many people have asked her to record it. It does mean I try to see it on tour whenever Lyn Paul's in it as, for me, she's the ultimate Mrs J. I think the Jack the Ripper cd release recently was perhaps the most excited I've ever been for a recording as I love the show and it again had always meant getting to any productions near me to hear the songs!

Dulcinea (Man of La Mancha) - Howard Keel Tell Me It's Not True (Blood Brothers) - Lyn Paul The Perfect Year (Sunset Boulevard) - Elaine Paige Unexpected Song (Song and Dance) - Julia McKenzie Saturday Night/Rippers Going To Get You (Jack the Ripper) - OLC

If I go more than 5-6 weeks without seeing anything live I get quite grumpy (just ask my work colleagues) but that does include concerts so not just theatre. Over a year I probably average once or twice a week. If I ever find I don't get that feeling of excitement as the lights go down then I'll know it's too much! That said I am more choosy these days simply because of the cost of tickets so if something has little appeal I won't go just in case I like it the way I used to do.

So far I'm really happy with this casting - no-one I want to see particularly (in fact I'd cross the world NOT to see Nigel Havers!) and I loathe panto so this is perfect for me. Imagine one of my favourite performers saying yes, would ruin my Christmas!

If you haven't seen a show then you don't know if it works or not. I don't understand people deliberately foreclosing their options based on no experience - and being proud of it! I find it easier to do this with musicals than plays - if I don't like the music then not much point going! Plus I loathe Disney, panto and kids singing so I know in advance that they would not form a good night out for me. With ticket prices as they are I have to be rather more picky than I used to be and would rather see something brand new without preconceptions than any of the things previously mentioned.

Theatre tokens are my idea of a perfect gift - if everyone who spends £5 on a box of chocs gave a £5 theatre token it would be so much better. If your friend is also an ATG member then combined with no fees and an offer it could be a gift that lasts a while and gives so much pleasure. Also they have no expiry date so can be used whenever required.

It's not hard to clap but it's not always deserved either. Also who knows why people don't clap, they might not consider it justified, might not have liked the performance or might even, like myself sometimes, be suffering horrendous arthritis in their wrist in which case it hurts to clap so you keep it back until the end of a show.
Just as I have no right to speak to a performer at the stage door after the show they have no right to assume applause for everything they do!

Yes, EP enjoys a drink - but she was also performing in King&I when her mother had cancer so would have first hand knowledge of how difficult the situation can be, not to mention having treatment herself when in Sunset. I just hope Sheridan takes all the time she needs to recover, her real fans will still be there at the other end without complaining about however long it takes.
