Anyone who has "booked" online; Payments not going through but they do if you ring the box office with your reference as they have been reserved! My credit card has three separate pending £50 so hoping only one does go through!

The website seems to have had a meltdown (Quelle Surprise) and I am semi-booked I think but waiting to hear back from the box office.

I don't understand why regional productions aren't taking the opportunity to tour here or have a brief residency. I will put my hand up and say I have no idea how much these things cost!

I love Michelle Terry as my gushing over her/her bottom in Cleansed thread shows but the prices are a bit *gulp!* as I have never been to this venue before. I am 5ft 1, can I get away with cheap seats?

Exciting (It makes me feel less guilty about buying a Friends Membership) but apprehensive about Redgrave. From word of mouth she misses shows but maybe that was just with James Earl Jones...

Might be worth doing the Today Tix lottery for this, Marwood?

Glad I booked this back in April now! I got upgraded for Red Velvet last week, unlikely to happen now!

I wasn't really taken to the theatre as a child *small violin* but living in London and Entry Pass really opened it up to me. My first play was A Woman Killed with Kindness, which was dull but I like the spectacle of theatre, even if the play isn't very good.
I go and see about 40-45 shows a year now (as cheap as possible).

I still enjoyed this play but my god the tube noise is irritating.
I had forgotten how fantastic Charlotte Lucas was in this, what a sexy lady! I could watch Adrian Lester for hours, such an engaging actor and I hope he does more varied theatre in the future-I have only seen various Othellos with this and the NT production.
Emun Elliott was great and I think as BME I don't think much has changed, there is more acceptance but still this feeling of tokenism when a black actor gets cast in a traditionally white role. I must get round to seeing Lester's Henry V at the NT Archive...

I have it from good authority (a friend enjoying the view) that he was present on Saturday. *BIG sigh of relief* I am hoping he just had a deserved day off!

Guaranteed advance notice of forthcoming productions
Quarterly e-newsletter, Hampstead Backstage

They also have a fantastic Under 30s £15 tickets scheme if you don't mind being in the front row or the very back dress circle row (Prefer front row, obviously)

Almeida Priority booking – access to your favourite seats before they go on public sale Events – discussion with creative team and drinks reception for each production Supporters’ e-Newsletter – exclusive interviews and insights into our work

I, of course, mean Southwark not Borough. So excited about Kaluuya's gorgeous face I have forgotten how London works.

I was never a friend but if any of you live in Lambeth or Borough then the Young Vic's Two Boroughs Scheme is wonderful. Free tickets for all performances it seems (I got to see A View from a Bridge transfer and Measure for Measure but there have been offers for The Trial, Macbeth, Battlefield etc) so I might just hang on and see if I can make any of the dates Two Boroughs offers but otherwise not excited about the shows until I hear casting news, I do think one of the Young Vic's strengths is getting interesting names.
I am looking forward to Blue/Orange as it is a play I have wanted to see for years and the casting is really fantastic. Daniel Kaluuya was wonderful in A Season in the Congo.

I too agree with much of this, but on the "nodding off" point, I hardly think anyone spends money on a ticket with the intention of having a snooze and if the production is so boring, is it the fault of the person whose attention wavers to that extent? Besides, once you are asleep, you are not aware of it and just have to hope you don't snore or dribble - or collapse onto the person in the next seat! I hope nodding off is rare-I have only come across during a NT Live screening of The Habit of Art, which was dull in all honesty but snoring really irritates me (I think this is why I am single). It mainly seems to be older people as well. I don't believe they need less sleep, just have terrible sleep patterns once retirement kicks in! I don't think 3 hour shows like Uncle Vanya help either!

I am genuinely concerned hot usher has left the Almeida as he wasn't there last Monday. If you do see him please let me know as my nomination will have to go to the short usher at the Duffman!

I think xanderl's gripe is legitimate. The only reason I invest in membership with any theatre is the priority booking. I'm not interested in, say, 20% off in the shop or 10% off in bars/restaurants because I don't use those services. *signs Jean up to the Sneaky Tin of Gin club*

Delighted for David Bedella, who I have yet to see in In the Heights but was such fun as Frank N Furter in Rocky Horror and joined the Theatre Forum Lovers FB group so I hope he has joined us over here.

I've been know to do 'tin o' gin' but bag searches in West End theatres freak me out so now only do it for BFI and NT...
Open it before the show and if I am really a lush then open another at the interval but I am not the hard boozing theatre attendee I probably need to be for some plays!

Same as Peggs above for me - just the suggestion of nastiness/gore makes me queasy! Throw in an actor convincingly going "Arghhh" and I'm outta there. Titus Andronicus totally off limits, given that I even struggle with the eye gouging scene (and its aftermath) in Lear! I'm genuinely interested to know what everybody gets out of Sarah Kane's stuff. Gore, violence, on-stage masturbation...it sounds like a teenager's idea of writing something cool and clever, but the thought of it makes me want to simultaneously yawn and vomit. I always think "ooh, Jean Hunt would hate this" during gory theatre bits I struggle more with suggestions of gore than the gore but it is odd, in theatre I can handle anything but in the cinema I get really jumpy! Sarah Kane was a curiosity for me but I am unsure I would see her work again-except Crave which is less grim apparently-but I am intrigued by controversial writers for the reasons you state. Why are those subjects taboo apart from making people feel a bit ill and what does a theatre get out of producing a play that makes people feel unwell!

I didn't notice any fainted the night I went so maybe it is the same sensitive person coming back to try and make it through the night every other performance?
Who faints in their seat? I am not really fainting type (don't let my pretty dress choices fool you) so I don't know what makes people faint.

Absolutely nothing stopping The Old Vic bringing back under 25 tickets or doing what the Young Vic do and have free/cheaper tickets for local residents in Borough and Lambeth to make it accessible and "not posh" but he has done the exact opposite.
The £10 tickets will go to those in the know and the high priced tickets are aimed at rich tourists or older patrons that perhaps already spend a lot in sponsorship. I have a friends membership but unlikely I will renew beyond August if I can get £30 or under Glenda tickets before then.

Noel Coward had a lovely accessible toilet (the ladies and gents weren't open and the plus being a woman of child bearing age means people think you might be up the duff) but whilst I can see it doesn't generate money it is a basic right to have access to a toilet that doesn't make me feel ill.

Yes, SRB mentioned this at the talk. He will be doing Timon in Athens. He seemed delighted with the £600 fee and to be flown to Athens (who wouldn't!?) but mentioned this version is different from the one used at the NT.
