I would swap/give it all up, Jean. It is a long night and I think incredibly inconsiderate of the NT to start at 7:30 and threaten at 3 and a half hour play.

Are we not going to takeover as part of a theatreboard co-op?
Bagsy auditioning and casting the sexy actors.

I went in with such low expectations because Rufus' reign of terror hasn't been enjoyable for me but if you liked Yael Farber's The Crucible then you will like this.
Without too many spoilers it also reminded me of the recent Another Country's Good, maybe it was the Olivier staging, which I always feel is quite limited for modern sets despite its vast size, maybe it was the "innocents" abroad aspect but I would still argue the NT is not in a great place but I hope it is trying.

So the whole production happened tonight. It is closer to 3 hours than the 3.5 listed on the free cast list but still too long for a 7:30 start.
It feels very appropriate in the light of recent terrorist events and it very much reminded me of A Season in the Congo. I am not sure how much of the piece was Hansbury's work as there is a dramaturg involved but I thought it was some of the strongest dialogue I had heard in a while and some interesting and engaging performances from the cast.
For Damned by Despair fans there is a lot of fire, I don't how long that will last though unless it is part of some insurance scam by Rufus to make up for the Arts cuts

What happens in that scenario? Do you get your money back? For a moment there, I thought Snciole was talking about Cowan's trousers not being snug enough. Then I read on... I just assumed they would be throwing money back at you, like Oprah, in that scenario!

What happens in that scenario? Do you get your money back? I am going to see this this evening and haven't had the cancellation email yet! If it's abandoned less than half way through, yes, you get your cash back. Probably best phoning them, Snciole if you are travelling far. I am assuming no news is good news but I was using it as an excuse to use my Pizza Express voucher so will be more devastated about that if it does get cancelled

Apologies if said elsewhere but David Haig added to the cast as well. It is a play I have wanted to see for years and so glad it has such exciting casting.

I wasn't blown away either but I mainly blame the Wyndham's balcony seats* as well as a quite poor script that really drags at times, that early group therapy scene went on forever, compared to the performances -I think the final scene with the parents should have seen those actors get nomination, but it felt to me like an actors' play dealing with issues that only actors understand and other common people's addictions were sidelined.
*Good seats but not good for plays that need intimacy.

Oh dear, is it icky? I booked for this because, well, Stephen Rea - but I'm not really up for any yuckiness. (Psychological violence is perfectly fine - it's gore that's a no-no.) We both know Stephen Rea would make any gore still super sexy though (Somehow, I haven't thought this through). I am looking forward to this, apologies to those of you going on 16 April matinee as I may push you down the stairs to get the best seat.

I am only in the interval but I am struggling to get why people have got so excited over People, Places and Things. Denise Gough is giving an interesting performance-though I am not blown awah in an otherwise weak, quite self-indulgent play.

I'm loving the attention to detail here. For 'science' naturally
Exactly. I've always had a passion for science. That's why the front row.
Next time Mallardo will actually be on the stage!

I missed Bill Nighy and Avenue Q Resident.
I think SRB was at the Waste Platform, on this basis alone he and I should be friends.

Bush and Finborough had inflation busting 'programme' and playtext for £4 (or perhaps £3.50) so there are still good deals to be had but unless I fancy an actor (I know...) I don't tend to buy programmes anymore.

Special mention to Trafalgar Studios, whose toilets are just horrible and cramped and the toilet didn't flush properly!

I think paying the £2 is worth it to have no expiry on the credit date, I don't feel panicked to use an NT credit voucher and in my case I wasn't in a rush to see The Flick on another date.. I am also not entirely sure the Flick is sold out (they must have Friday Rush etc) and might be worth calling NT to actually check if an exchange is possible and if not they might waive the credit.

I found this really intense but I enjoyed the performances, I am not surprised the two leads are getting a couple of days off, it looks exhausting! The element of race really worked, I didn't realise until the Glenda Jackson clip above that it wasn't written for two black leads. The only thing that jarred, though it worked, was the modern setting. It felt like it should have been set in 1950/60s America and I was really disappointed Jamie Lloyd didn't change Clare's name to Beyoncé!

I agree, he could just in denial that he is retirement age but it read like a voluntary redundancy acceptance, at best. I just don't think Coveney would leave the security of What's On Stage to write books, and occasionally write reviews for WOS(!?), Who is going to buy them? Us!?

To be fair to the NT I just sent them an email with my original order after I double booked myself (Nobody will blame me for choosing Tim Roth across the road over this) and they sent me my voucher over email, so saved me a phone call and listening to Ralph Fiennes begging me for money.

Reading between the lines it does look like he was shoved under a bus, just like us. He leaving excuse I joined 10 years ago in April, so thought it would be cool to leave in April after 10 years. Which is sad as with the decline of publications and a reliance on the net we are ever losing quality art content and criticism. I wonder if, like us, Coveney was too critical and it was affecting relationships with stakeholders? It will be interesting to see who his replacement is and the tone of their reviews.

I keep questioning what I was meant to think. I think the direction of the teacher's resentment towards him confused me. She seemed to be enabling his arsehole privileges and then got angry with him?. I think, as a BME, I get that there were expectations but all the expectations of Luce are positive, not negative. He meets the stereotypes of a privileged arse, which is to be expected with his upbringing whatever his colour!

You might be aware but I found a general landline number for Wyndhams (Delfont Mackintosh?) which is 02078127498, which gets you through to the 0844 number via a dodgy method (I suspect).

I really liked the performances and tone of the piece but perhaps because of my unfamiliarity with race issues within schools I struggled with the character of Luce. I think it is because the character is highly privileged and behaves like an arsehole.
I really liked Martins Imhangbe (His friends had come to see him and they were making me LOL with their comments about acting and how dreadful the Christopher Darden character was on American Crime Story) I can definitely see him having a mainstream career as he is very good and very gorgeous. I enjoyed Mel Giedroyc as well, she is so striking in real life.

I was looking at evening! I sound like I am moaning, still happy with my seats as I haven't paid much more than I would have done and the view/leg room should be fine but I was right on it at 12pm and everything!

I couldn't find any £10-20 seats, were they only available on weekdays? I was limited in booking Saturdays then I panicked and ended up with front row balcony.
