Just back from tonight's show, which was phenomenal. It's quite difficult to put it into words, as like many others on this thread I too am a Renthead, and have a lot of memories linked to the show. I've been in a couple of amateur productions but had never seen it live, so this was a real treat.
As today was the day the world lost Jonathan Larson twenty one years ago, the director made an announcement at the start of the show to mark the occasion, and together with the cast and crew, we applauded his work and how many hearts he had touched around the world. Then the show started.
There was some really strong performances from everyone, Philippa Stefani and Layton Williams stood out in particular. Ryan O'Gorman's 'I'll Cover You Reprise' was so heart-wrenching, and Lucie Jones had some hilarious moments. Billy Cullum is a fantastic Mark, a lovely balanced portrayal of funny but also sad, particularly when he feels alone. Ross Hunter had a great voice, just could have done with a little more emotion I thought. The ensemble were fantastic too.
I'm so glad it's had a sold-out run in London because they deserve it - this is a really special show and I hope to catch it again on tour!

Saw it tonight - my first time at the Menier which is such a great little venue! Loved Scarlett Strallen and Katherine Kingsley, the revolving set was genius and I thought the ensemble were very tight and slick. Wasn't too impressed by Les Dennis, he looked rather bored throughout! A lovely feel-good show which left me smiling from start to finish.

Saw this at Newcastle Theatre Royal this week - very funny! I especially enjoyed the character of 'Charles', think we had an understudy on but he was very good! Great fun

In The Heights would be great, really sad I missed it in London. Lend Me a Tenor please and Singin' In The Rain could go back on the road - I LOVED those shows!

Oh so many! Desperate to see Hunchback and Frozen on stage. Hercules, Mulan and Tangled would be amazing too.

So me and my boyfriend are currently sitting trying to agree on the most emotional MT lyrics. Some of our suggestions are; "If i didn't believe in you, i wouldn't have loved you at all" - The last Five Years "Sometimes people leave you halfway through the wood. Do not let it grieve you. No one leaves for good, you are not alone, no one is alone." - Into The Woods "No day but today" - Rent in particular the ending to Finale B
Any opinions are welcomed!!

I love Carousel, but have no desire to see this. I watched Alfie Boe do two hours of 'acting' in Les Mis on Broadway this year and I definitely won't be rushing to see this sadly.

Regionally, I've seen lots of shows at Newcastle Theatre Royal and Sunderland Empire.
In London, it's a tie between the Savoy and the Palladium.

Very saddened by this, it's my one of my favourite shows. Glad it's going on tour though so it's not quite the end!

Hugh Jackman. Everything he does sounds like a parody, extremely unnatural, like he is imitating what he thinks Broadway should sound like, and taking the piss. Every note that is supposed to be soft, or with finesse, or filmic, or real/truthful, is a loud disingenuous trainwreck with him. Reaching for the backrow, even if there isn't one. Combined with very poor technique and abysmal timing of words and syllables. And last but not least, too long and fake vibrato on the exact wrong syllables, constantly, makes him the person this thread is about. I thought he was fantastic in Oklahoma, but I agree about the vibrato, it was awful in the Les Mis film.

I too would love to see this show revived - I'm still kicking myself for never getting to see the Ball/Staunton production, I love the cast recording.
Jenna Russell would be an amazing Lovett!

Cats Phantom Miss Saigon - I didn't get the hype with the revival. RENT - Great songs, just a predictable plot and the characters are unlikeable. Spring Awakening - not overrated as such, I just got my hopes up and when I finally saw it I came away disappointed.

Posting this on behalf of my partner who has very patiently let me drag him along to the likes of Wicked, Jersey Boys, Jeremy Jordan in Concert recently, which all come with the crowd of people he cannot stand: woo girls.
Those of you who watch How I Met Your Mother will understand what I mean!
