I have a free show slot and narrowed it down to nice fish and this house. What do people who have seen both recommend? I can only fit one in.

Just to note again that Rent will be back in London zone 4, less than 20 mins train from Victoria in Bromley in early Feb. Premium tickets £44, most others £39 and largely unsold so maybe discounts nearer the time. Another venue not too far is Woking in March. I got top price stalls for £35 on the Saturday evening. It said early bird offer on ATG website so they will probably go up in price soon.

Is there an equivalent to theatremonkey for regional theatres? Or can anyone here give me some advise on the mayflower theatre in Southampton? I want to book some tickets for billy Elliot and all the best stalls tickets have gone for the day I can do and I begrudge paying £65 for back of the stalls or circle. What is the balcony like there?

Has anyone got a song list for this? The program only has them in alphabetical order rather than the order they appear in the show.

What with the hot weather this week just thought I'd start a thread on air conditioning in theatres. There's nothing worse than sat in a hot and stuffy theatre for three hours. Can anyone think of any particularly good or bad theatres? The Charing Cross theatre a few weeks ago was unbearable, would like to see titanic again but put off by how warm it was in there.

It needs to be someone quirky and not conventionally attractive. Jodie Prenger for example. - but she isn't a big enough name. Kerry Ellis? No. Natalie Casey? Maybe but still not big enough. How about Jodie Jacobs?

I walked past the palladium on Saturday around 5pm and massive queue of people waiting to get in for this.

Is this theatre always like an oven or did I just go on the hottest day of the year?
American idiot was unbearable - not sure if I hated the show or if the fact it was so hot in there I couldn't enjoy it.

I like a 2.30 matinee on a Saturday so I have time between shows for food etc and get to the next theatre (always a rush when you see two fringe shows) but prefer 3 or 4pm starts on Sunday as my trains are less frequent/take longer and I do like a lie in!
I love how almost everyone on here does double show days!

Glad to hear it. Hopefully the prices wont be as ridiculous here. If I had to venture a guess, I'd say that the London production of Hamilton will be similarly priced as Book of Mormon. More premium seats than usual, and more more expensive premium seats (in the range of £125-£150), but also plenty of normal top price (£70) and even cheaper seats in the gods (£40-£50). I do hope though that they won't start the resale thing here. I wish I had a cheaper hobby *sigh*

People are paying $300 for that? Think this is one bandwagon I won't be jumping on!!! They're paying $300 if they're very lucky! More like $700-$1000. But if you want to dismiss a musical that people are that passionate about by short clips then go ahead. Hamilton isn't 'too' anything. It might be too musical parody for one persons tastes but you just have to look at the enormous critical and commercial success of this show plus the way it has reached the American mainstream in a way that a musical hasn't done in at least twenty years to see that the composer, director, cast and producers don't need to change a damn thing. Most people think this show is pretty perfect the way it is. I'm not dismissing it just saying it doesn't look my 'thing' from those clips but I will still go and see it if it comes here and I can get a ticket. I'll watch anything once.

Very exciting! Has he not got a summer show at sadlers this year? I usually book them both at the same time to save 20% No, no summer show this year because Sleeping Beauty is going to Asia. The only chance of another show would be ReBourne but I don't think there will be another ReBourne show till next year, however I'm happy to be proved wrong. That's a shame we can't get our summer fix of Bourne this year!

Take a look at this clip, here you can see exactly what I mean. It is all "outside", every song has the streetdance, every end pose is a "cool one facing the audience", the ensemble is extremely repetitive in shouting words about what happens, and there is very little actual interaction between characters, only in a "mimicking way", and if it tends to go somewhere, the focus quickly turns towards the audience again, or a pose, streetdance or a cool word, that screams "musical parody". If you compare this to something like Miss Saigon (another dramatic show about history), there is only 1 character in the show that turns to the audience, and there is no "posing" at all. It's like the show doesn't take itself seriously at all. Because of this, I can't take it serious either. It creates a vibe that actually makes me laugh at times. Especially when the end pose of a song comes in. People are paying $300 for that? Think this is one bandwagon I won't be jumping on!!!

Would you class leaning forward when sat at the front of the circle as bad behaviour? I was sat front of circle last night and could see perfectly well sat up straight normally but practically everyone else on the row were leaning/slouched on bar. I have memories of people doing this in front of me and obstructing my view so never do it.

I think there were rumours of the red shoes on the old message board as when it was on tv I watched it wondering how Matthew Bournes version would be done!

Saw this yesterday matinee and it started a few minutes late and finished just before half 5. The time flew by, great play and the cast are outstanding. Third time I've seen the caretaker - saw the version with david Bradley and also Jonathan Pryce. Can anyone remember who else was in the Jonathan Pryce version?

Not read the whole thread but read the bit about the rumours of the show coming over here. Would this show sell here in a large west end theatre? In the heights in struggling in a small theatre (was half empty when I went) what has this show got to offer the average theatre goer? Not juke box, not based on a film and the average person doesn't care about American history. I don't understand why people seem to think it will work here. At least Book of Mormon has the South Park writers connection.

In the heights - think I might be alone on this as all I have read on this and the old message board are positive reviews.
Kinky boots - I didn't hate this but feel it's not as good as everyone says it is - in my opinion anyway!
Not actually seen this one live I have only heard the cast recording and watched you tube clips etc but Hamilton.

What is the running time for this? The Delfont website says 2hrs 30 including the interval but noticed the showing at the cinema tomorrow is 7pm - 1015pm. Not been to a live cinema event before - do they just have the play or adverts/extras also?
