Wow wow wow 🤩 agree with everything written a true tour de force performance. From both actually the performance is so enriched by the live music one wouldn’t work without the other acting music lighting the whole choreographed performance stunning !! So glad I got to see this before it ends 240 mile round trip but worth every mile
I missed out on Rush tickets this morning !! That app is so annoying … told me for 2hours all tickets are held …. Then All tickets are gone I look elsewhere …. Then come back they had more tickets now all held again ….. so ring box office the won’t do any deals … so find TKTS doing dress row E for £24 great …. Then check tix … now 1pm … rush tickets available stalls Row R arghh what do I do …. 🤔check seat plan …. Hmmm dress looks better …. Then lose TKTS …. 🙈😱….. try rush 1.20 pm more available Row P end of row …. 😱😱🎭 try Tkts again phew seats back on sale book book book 😵💫…. Get them then alert comes Rush available Row M stalls lol …. view from dress E 9-10 was great 👍 worth every penny and if I had more money I’d of happily have paid a lot more to see such a quality performance 🎭

Got to see the show last Sunday …. Bought tickets direct on the Friday row F centre royal circle for £30 each view looked ok Just before the show I asked the extremely lovely box office staff if there may be some a little closer They moved us to stalls centre wow 🤩 view was awesome plenty of leg room and empty seats either side too !
Shame we had such rude people in front though in sears that cost £150 ! 2 family’s dad sat at end didn’t move sat staring forward all show 2 kids about 7 yr up and down wanted 2 booster cushions but were better behaved than the mother texting !! Told her friends she was so bored but kids seem to like it then curled up on the chair and had a sleep 💤!?
The other family 2 kids were quiet and really engaged with the show …. It was the father with his Pringles maltesers , popcorn 🍿 constantly rattling and talking to his wife and then force feeding the kids when they clearly just wanted to see the show
Still enjoyed it no petula or zizzi. Both understudies were good bird woman looked a bit young though Bert was ok wish I had seen Charlie ….. mrs brill was well brilliant 🤩 the 2 kids were ok Jane rushed her lines Michael was excellent 👍
Not as extravagant is the original I saw there many years ago but really liked the extra lighting effects added 3/5

Wow what a fabulous piece of theatre …. New interpretation of the great escape …. A bit of everything audience participation, comedy , Drama , tense thriller , camp musical , acrobatic, the whole piece so well staged and choreographed…. Excellent set and lighting all in the round . Being sat in front row I didn’t expect to be taking part !! Very talented and tight cast not a weak link amongst them a true well deserved standing ovation 5/5 ⭐️

Out of interest, did anybody here see the original cast? How was Lisa Stokke? Saw the original cast in August 99 after queuing up for returns. I remember the cast being excellent, Lisa Stokke made a very good Sophie. I love her performance of I Have A Dream on the cast recording. I saw the original cast she was great … I saw one of the last previews and was sat right behind benny and bjorn such a thrill it was the first night that they added in the the reprise at at then end when the disco lights come down Each side etc and was the first time the audience got up out of theirs seats …. Much to their delight before that it just ended walking on the boardwalk

I saw the last performance on Saturday I agree with all the comments mkb. Esp the sound It’s a very difficult subject to capture correctly I also work in older peoples mental health services specifically in dementia care for over 20years … I’m glad it captured the many facets and experiences …and humour once or twice maybe to educational? But maybe that was the intention The lead actress performer was exceptional and the husband also so believable at times it was like being at work standing in patients home with them . Full standing ovation at the end I had to jump up first for Maggie was so well deserved 4/5 from me too

I know it's not really a playhouse but I wonder if it might see a play transfer or debut there? Animal Farm was previously mentioned but perhaps something from the National like The Corn is Green for example? The stage version of Spitting Image which was announced a while ago still doesn't have a theatre so maybe that could be a possibility. I’d imagine we would be more likely to get something like Murder on the Orient Express.. or as you say Animal Farm. Something that is more likely to sell well for a limited season. Wasn’t that Tom Jones musical supposed to be rather good also? It sure was what’s new pussycat… the story of Tom jones the novel … with the music of Tom jibes the singer set in the swinging 60 s quality production in every way set slighting live band costumes choreography a real feel good. Show

I just watched the mega mix you tube clip must say wasn’t impressed at all was all a bit lacklustre to me and costumes awful Wasn’t impressed by the vocals … I’m sure I read somewhere it wasn’t even all live ? 🤔or did I make that up …. I love Cher but this seems a cheap copy of the USA show Arlene and the team did such a fab job with what’s new pussycat last year shane it’s not that touring was the best new show I’ve seen in many years I was also disappointed by the Cher Show, which I saw at Leicester last week, for all the reasons outlined in recent posts here. I found it disjointed, unengaging book and too many of the (35) songs are reduced to excerpts. The generally monochrome staging became dull after a while I book and usually enjoy all jukebox musicals, totally agree that What's New Pussycat is way better than this and I also loved and highly recommend The Osmonds Musical currently at the Churchill Theatre, Bromley Must admit with all the reviews I’m tempted to see the osmonds show was never a huge fan but does eeem like they have a good show there And yes What’s new pussycat was a top class production and so engaging it’s real shame it’s not touring instead …. Still hoping. For a west end transfer fingers crossed 🤞

I find all areas perfectly good, I usually sit in the last few rows at the back of the stalls which i find to be excellent and doesn't feel far away to me at all. It's a shallow theatre. I've not sat in the circle many times but from when I did I found that to be good too even towards the bacK. In this day and age of ticket prices I'd hardly say top price tickets of £50 is particularly high and you can get perfectly good seats for £30. It’s all relative and personal I guess but to me personally £50 ticket is a lot of money I’m a front line Nhs worker that’s £100 for me and my partner esp with the cost of living going up fuel etc too Don’t get me wrong for special events etc of course I’d pay more but for regular shows I’d be down to theatre once every 2 months which would be 😱😱😱😩🥺😢 If I didn’t get the deals and stand by tickets my theatre going days would be extremely rare which would be very sad as it’s my escapism from being around so much death and sadness each day …. Theatre 🎭 is my great love and passion London can demand higher ticket prices I get that ad always use. To be bigger productions and stars ⭐️ seems les. If that now though . Tbh I’ve seen same productions in London sometimes cheaper than my local theatre 😉🤪 I managed to see little voice at a quite local theatre last week on day seats for £12 …. They were charging £37 +booking theatre on sat eve less than half full such a shame But sadly many of us regular people are being out priced 😞 Saw another show there few months back now too price was £47. I went on Thursday eve got day seat yay 😃 £10 I counted 80 —100 people in a 800 seat theatre was so sad

Never been to this theatre. But tempted now … but with the ticket prices …. Ouch ! Can’t afford to put heating on let alone spend £50 at the theatre …. What are the very cheap seats like here ?? 👍😉🤗

Just out of Malvern tonight an extremely small size audience but then tickets are £27-34 luckily they were doing half price tickets this week so nabbed a couple . I’ve seen 2 other productions before uk tour and Birmingham rep Rep being superior in every way imo from set to effects to a fab cast and magical end scene . Shobna is great and works so hard … my half price ticket was worth the price just to see Christina biancos mr boo night club scene ! So not all bad I questioned some of the directing choices especially the last couple of scenes . Ian Kelsey didn’t quite embodie ray say his it’s over scene such an anticlimax wasted opportunity . Which brings me to the house burning scene …. One orange light and lots of smoke , Surely they could of at least had a few more lights or projections even ?? Got to be the weakest I’ve ever seen ….. then after couldn’t really see the difference ? A melted tv and grey fleeces thrown over furniture. The end light scene which at Rep was so magical and moving bought me and my party to tears …., was a single mirror ball … didn’t really have the same impact ….. I enjoyed moments wasn’t all bad pace dragged in places but overall 2.5/5 for Shobna and Christina singing Got to say though the new Malvern seats are the shortest seat pitch and most uncomfortable I’ve ever sat in ouch 😣

This appears to have sold so much better in Wolverhampton than it did in Birmingham??? Where tickets were being sold for £14 just to fill the theatre Wolverhampton tickets are between £55-60 top price and cheapest tickets and I’ve never really got this On seating plan says listening only !!! So you can’t even watch the show just hear it for £27-30 🤔🙄🤪

I’m a huge Jamie fan seeing it initially in Sheffield then with the changes in London and the London run seeing it 7 times couldn’t get enough of it So was mortified that seeing it in Wolverhampton on tour stopped It dead in its tracks for me after seeing Layton as Jamie …. I just really don’t see what all the fuss about him is ? I saw lots of different Jamie’s in the west end and all including understudies were so much better imo It ruined Jamie for me and don’t think I will ever see it again with Layton in the role

So I just got back from seeing this show in Southern California 10tony awards no less … I knew nothing about it but gave it a go … maybe it was the pace , maybe it was because it was in a huge 3000 seat theatre could be many things but For the first time in my life I felt like not going back after the interval ….. sad thing was there was no interval …. 1 hr 45 min straight through … around .8 people in our section left after an hour and never came back
Is this a marmite show ? Anyone else really love it ? Or not so much ?

Could do without all the !!!! But thanks to burly bear for adding spoiler alert much appreciated don’t want to upset anyone else 👍

Like I think everyone on here felt …. last night did feel special … and amazed how good all performances were esp with the limited rehearsal time . I had hoped for a few more surprise but hey ho {Spoiler - click to view} Paul baker …. Was fab again couldn’t believe 20 years had passed and lovely to see Drew back as Steve strange . Gail hadn’t changed either all wonderful . John partridge surprised me l had seen him years back but last night the whole show immediately lifted when he exploded on stage . I did wonder who would play Josie.? Thought Sally Ann was great
I was hoping for a video montage of all the past cast would have been lovely to see ? Shame it wasn’t added and I too missed Matt Lucas I missed him originally but loved him on the soundtrack…. Hope it wasn’t clashes or falling out that kept him out … as surely for charity people could put differences aside …
Had some youngsters next to me ….. well about 23 so young compared to me 😊and wouldn’t have seen the show originally… maybe YouTube etc now …. They had difficulty following the story but appeared to enjoy the songs and in circle they and from what I could see rest of circle refrained from photos and filming until finale which was lovely to see …. As we were all in the moment like it should be .
I do think the songs have certainly stood the test of time and was wonderful to hear them with such a full sound the added voices worked so well …. I really do think 🤔 like was said all those years ago and again last night Taboo was way ahead of its time And I think 🤔 now would be the right time for a revival would love a blend of both versions or at least some broadway songs added.
Not sure what’s gone on with Marilyn but seemed the butt of the. Joke last night more than originally ? In the show
I’m sure I saw Arlene Philips outside the theatre 🎭 and not sure if he went last night but had dinner not far away last night and Samuel L Jackson was on table next to me !! Anyone who goes tonight will have a fab time and at the reduced rate getting a real bargain
