Matilda. I haven't seen it, and haven't the slightest desire to, and all the occasional excerpts that have cropped up on TV have reinforced that feeling.
I have seen all the others mentioned, so if I had to choose one of those, it would be the Lion King.

Posh elderly lady, on taking her seat: "How long is this going on for?" Posh companion: "Not long, I shouldn't think."
This before a word had been uttered, a single note of music played, or even the sight of any cast member!
Followed by:
PEL: "Have I been here before?" PC: "Yes, with me." PEL: "No, I don't think so."

Well, I'm not sure what to make of this. I was there this afternoon - stalls reasonably full, apart from unfortunate gaping empty spaces in rows two and three. On the one hand, it was quirky and different, and well performed and played. On the other hand, I thought it would never end. Seemed to go down well with the audience, though, with loads of whoops and a lot of people jumping to their feet at the end. Sadly not for me.

Plus Paul Zerdin as Silly Billy, Nigel Havers as Daddy Bear and Gary Wilmot as Dame Betty Barnum. All the usual suspects.

With Matt Baker (The One Show and Countryfile - yes, that Matt Baker) as Joey the Clown!

6 new London shows announced and on sale Friday. Blimey! After that display at Eurovision I thought they'd have been cancelling!

Why is Cassidy J playing the role as Scottish?! Dumb choice. Exactly what I thought when I saw her a couple of weeks ago.

Fingers crossed it makes it to Wimbledon in a couple of weeks! Even though the tickets are relatively reasonably priced, based on the low sales I'm holding off on booking and hoping for some deals. I've just had a look at Wimbledon & it's £40+ if you want to be anywhere other than right at the back. To me that seems rather expensive for a small-scale production but maybe my expectations are unrealistic. As I mentioned a few pages ago, the Thursday matinee I was attending was cancelled, due to the producers' decision (according to the theatre). I'm guessing low sales.

Don't you just love it when you have chosen your ticket, then the system tells you your login information is invalid. You go to re-do your account and it promptly tells you those details are already in use. I know, they are mine! Grrr. Anyway, perseverance finally paid off and I have my ticket. Just have to remember new user name and password now. All Saturday matinee concessions seem to be sold out now, so had to go for standard.

Re Watergate, I was there today and the notice displayed says you can take water in if the bottle is still sealed. If opened, then good luck!
As for Man of La Mancha, well, I have to say didn't know a great deal about the musical, other than the Impossible Dream. I sort of enjoyed it, but I started to drift off during the first half. The orchestra was wonderful, Kelsey Grammar better than I expected. I saw Cassidy Jansen as Dulcinea - is her accent meant to sound Glaswegian?!
I was in the Dress Circle. I would estimate it was about seven-eighths full, and from what I could see of the Stalls, that area looked pretty full too. There was a standing ovation from the Stalls at the end, and about a quarter of the Dress stood too, so it seemed to go down well.

Caught this today. Loved it, and thought Jessie Buckley was great. I've seen her in a couple of things (wasn't she on TV in War and Peace with James Norton?), and as Perdita in Branagh's A Winter's Tale. She is proving to be a very talented, versatile young lady.

Not sure, if I were a man, that I would care to patronise barbers "Blood Sweat and Shears"!

Does anyone know anything about this? I couldn't find a thread anywhere.
It seems that this play being staged in June in Chelmsford, starring and being produced by Lee Mead.

If she likes 'flashy and fun', how about 9 to 5? And I'm another one in favour of 'Waitress'.

Oh go on, please do mention the helicopter. How on earth does a youth theatre school achieve this effect? Oh well, if you insist .... an upside down ceiling fan! You did have to use your imagination a bit, funnily enough - OH likened it to Budgie the Helicopter!

There’s a youth version that can be done. Wow, is that not just a bit ‘odd’? The youth ‘Les Mis’ just about works but aren’t the themes just a touch adult? What sort of parent wants to see that? 😳😂 I saw a school's version of Miss Saigon once, performed by a local theatre school. Lots of embarrassed teenage girls in bikinis, and we won't even mention the helicopter ...

David's run ends 11th May from what I know and he doesn't have an alternate. He's well worth seeing, I saw him twice and his Final Lair scene blew me away! Couldn't agree more. The Final Lair scene reduced me to tears, a feat other Phantom has achieved (and I've seen a few!).

I recently caught Maria as Glinda. Whilst I wouldn't say she is my favourite, she has a beautiful voice and deserves the success she has had.

Does anyone recall the flack Katie Hall got after her fling with Gareth Gates? I'd forgotten that! He does seem to get involved with all his leading ladies, though. I believe he's now engaged to the last one (whose name escapes me).

Just had a phone call from the theatre that the Thursday matinee at Wimbledon has been cancelled - producer's decision, apparently. Rats - that's the only opportunity I had of seeing it. Money refunded, but that's not the point.

I seen to have undergone a sense of humour bypass, as I hated both 'Back to Life' and 'Ghosts'. Wasn't struck on the return of 'Not Going Out' either.

Not one person on this forum has seen Louise yet? I have. She knew her lines, sang reasonably ok ..... but was completely outclassed by Natalie McQueen and Amber Davies. Early days yet for her, I suppose - that's it really!

Once. My friends loved it and I went to see it with such high hopes - and hated it. I actually did go back a second time some months later, in case I or the cast had been having an off day. Nope - still hated it.
