Well I really hope I don’t feel the same as I’m seeing it tomorrow. To my amazement it’s practically sold out (unusual for plays in Sheffield), and because I didn’t book straight away I’ve got a rubbish (cheap) seat in the middle of the row, so if it isn’t very good I can’t sneak out.

I had a bad week this week The tiresome Confessions The dreadful Lear I was so looking forward to this Not a patch on the WE staging either set wise or cast (and that was far from perfect but had a very memorable first death) Unsure why we needed a gender swap to create a same sex relationship where one isn’t in the text Very silly set with a dining room rammed at the back of the stage Nothing about the execution of design evoked a house of the extravagant proportions described in the lines The soldiers could hardly be seen And the portrayal of the deaths lacked any shock or horror Very flat for me, no tension and typical bad touring standard acting Disappointing

It must be still doing very well though, or why would they extend again? We went for £39 when it first opened and got brilliant seats, but next time, although it’s a brilliant musical, I’m not sure I want to pay even £39 for an awful back row circle seat in an old rickety theatre.

We’re in London at the end of April for a week. I would like to see this show, but at the moment there are no offers that far into the run and as I cram as many shows as physically possible into my week, I can’t afford to pay the full price. I’ve noticed on TKTS it’s heavily discounted most days so I’m going to take a risk that it will still be the case further into the run (unless it gathers momentum like ‘Sky’s Edge’ and becomes a sell out).

I’m from Sheffield and saw it first time round, but it was a few years ago. We went last week and I did struggle with remembering some of the characters (which family they were with), but don’t think I’ve seen anything so incredible in a long long time. I really hope it is successful in London as apart from a couple of very local references, it could be any large city back in the day. The acting, music and singing were just incredible. I laughed and cried in equal measure and would have gone again, but as others have said, it completely sold out for the full run.

Well I’ve just booked tickets. The cheapest ones so I won’t feel I’ve been too robbed if it’s rubbish, but I do like JOJ.

It’s selling really well (unless they’re holding back a lot of tickets). I was really surprised when I looked.

Fingers crossed all the strikes will be over by then, but will definitely check before that the DLR and tube lines are open.

Booked tickets for April and used Seatplan as a guide, so thanks for the heads up about that. Amazingly, Ticketmaster had the cheapest tickets compared to the actual venue (side seats, but good reviews). Only booked because of the rave reviews on here, and my husband isn’t too keen on the fact that it’s so far away from the main London hub. For that reason I’ve booked the Sunday afternoon matinee, giving plenty of time to get there and back. I'm sure you will have a great time. BTW Ticketmaster is the official ticket seller so when you go to the ABBA Voyage website and click on buy tickets it takes you to Ticketmaster. Also would suggest you check in advance on the TFL website to see if there are any weekend closures on the tube and DLR lines.

I saw it tonight (got soaking wet too, but we need the rain don’t we?). I agree with others, she really shouts at first and I started thinking what’s all the fuss about, but then it gets properly into the story and really grabs you. I left at the part where the lights were all on the audience as I had a bus to catch. Maybe I should have waited a bit, but I thought that was the end?

I really enjoyed the matinee on Thursday, loved all ‘The Osmonds’, but the youngsters were really cute weren’t they? When ‘little Jimmy’ came on to sing ‘Long Haired Lover From Liverpool’, his mic wasn’t working, but he continued to sing and the orchestra instantly played quieter until another mic was brought in for him. He got (and deserved) a massive cheer at the end of course. It is a bit long and the 20 year old girl next to me (who knew all the words, but thankfully didn’t sing TOO loudly, just some rather exaggerated armography as CRH would say), actually left five minutes before the end, presumably to get a train. It was packed, presumably because of the £10 offer. I got my ticket months ago, so didn’t get that, but it was only £22.50 seniors rate, so still not expensive.

It really is a problem isn’t it, and the ushers don’t seem to do more than just look. There was an old man (well he sounded old) with a very deep voice talking most of the time through Dream Girls last week, and when he wasn’t talking he was singing a very tuneless version of the songs. Everyone was turning to look and the usher, who was about 60, 5ft tall and as thin as a whippet also just looked and did nothing. Mind you, I didn’t blame her really, a gust of wind would have blown her over.

Walking away from the Les Mis tour, which has Katie Hall as Fantine. Two women behind me said “she was OK but Susan Boyle sang it better”. I can only assume they meant Boyle was better than Hall singing I Dreamed a Dream. I actually heard the same thing (loudly) in the theatre in Manchester, whilst Fantine was singing I dreamed a dream (just after Susan Boyle was in Britain’s Got Talent).

I got an email today from Broadway World saying there are special offers for many of the seats (some half price) if anyone is interested?

I saw it tonight and to be honest it went on a bit too long, to the point that quite a few people left after the under the sea scene. Start time was 7.30 pm and it finished at 10.10 which is longer than a lot of adult shows I’ve seen. The special effects were clever and at the rear of the circle looked flawless. If my grandchildren hasn’t been on holiday, I would probably have taken them, but at 5 and 6, there would have been a lot of wriggling I think.

I’m going to London next week and have been looking at TKTS online every day. Hardly any discounted shows, and the ones that are you could probably get a better discount either at the theatre box office or TodayTix, so I don’t think I will bother.

I’ve already got my tickets. I really enjoyed it the first time (even though we had Freddie Flintoft 🤔). I love Lee Mead and Les Dennis is hilarious.

Peter, you sound just like me. I only know ‘the one’, and for that price it’s worth taking a punt. It’s one of many in our week in London at the end of the month.

This was just on in oxford new theatre last Week. I hate to slate a show but it was the second worst touring production i had ever seen. The first being hairspray. I went during the Week and people had got up and actually walked out. I admired the cast and thoroughly enjoyed reliving the songs from the film that i Watched until the video tape could play no more. Peter Andre was a crowd pleaser and had everyone on their feet, the finale was the best bit.😂🤣 I saw it today and had exactly the same thoughts as you. Loved the choreography but oh it did seem slow, and no one had got a believable American accent. No Peter Andre or Ore for us, but the fella who played Teen Angel had a brilliant voice, much better than ‘Danny’ in my opinion. The finale was pretty good though.

I got tickets yesterday from TodayTix for £25 each (checked on Seatplan and the full price was £70). It was a 24 hour deal, but I notice it’s been extended for another 24 hours.

We are going to London at the end of October for a week. I’ve already booked quite a few shows but am reluctant to commit to this just yet. I have seen an offer on Facebook for 2 for 1 tickets, but only in September. I think I’ll bide my time and see if they do any other offers nearer to the dates we will be there as I’m not prepared to pay too much owing to the mixed reviews.

I saw this last week with about a thousand school kids who whispered/talked all through the first half and unwrapped sweets when not talking. They were much better in the second half, but maybe because they had fallen asleep. I found it very drawn out, although the ‘tree’ and the monster where very impressive.

I think a new Sheffield high has been reached. For tonight's performance, there is a single seat in the stalls available for £70, or 'only' £67.50 for concessions! I’m going (for the second time in this run) on Saturday 29th in the cheap seats (row L circle) and thought I might treat myself to an upgrade as failing eyesight made it impossible to see too much detail on my first visit. Like you Paul, there was one seat in the stalls for £65, so I’ve decided to stick with the blurred vision. Proud Sheffielder that I am, it was so much better at The Crucible as the Lyceum must be one of the smallest stages around, with such a steep rake, you almost expect the desks to slide down into the audience.

I’ve got tickets booked for the week after New Year as it’s a nightmare getting into Sheffield the last couple of weeks before Christmas. A friend went the first week and said it was terrible, but he didn’t like Kinky Boots, so say no more. 🥴🤣

I saw this yesterday and absolutely loved it. Totally agree that it's the Joseph of many years ago and Jaymi was just wonderful, as all the cast were. 5/5 for me.
