I've also got a ticket for 30th (but the matinee). A group of my friends are booking tickets for the Monday cinema screening too and I must admit I did think of maybe trying to sell my London ticket, but I might as well go, seeing as I've had the ticket for over six months . My mates aren't mad theatre goers and I keep telling them it's a concert version but I'm not sure they really understand the difference.

I've never had a bad seat from TodayTix or TKTS so it doesn't bother me really. Plus the friend I am going with is amazing at chucking tantrums, so if we get sh*tty seats I'll just set him loose on the box office x Doesn't seem right to have a tantrum at the box office staff in order to get better seats. I've never thrown a tantrum, but I have very politely asked if there is a chance of somewhere with a better view as I didn't realise they were so far away/the knee room was so tight/there is someone in the row in front with BIG hair and it has nearly always worked. If not I may have to try the frail old lady act in future although doing lots of exercise kind of negates that option.

Tried to get a ticket in Sheffield this week and was sold out so those reviews seemed to have worked. Also notice they have 5 weeks off at Christmas and have heard speculation they’re going into Windhams theatre in place of Man in white suit. Anyone confirm this? xxx Well I went this afternoon and there were plenty of empty seats. In fact the balcony was closed and the 20 or so people who had booked seats up there were moved into the circle where we were and we moved to the next row in the middle which was virtually empty. I have to say I thought it was overlong, starting at 2pm and finishing at 4.50pm and I got a bit bored. The ensemble are fantastic, both singing and dancing and some great individual voices but they seemed to unnecessarily repeat parts of the story.

Saturday night's performance of We Will Rock You at Sheffield Lyceum was abandoned after about 20 minutes, due to what is being reported as an electrical fire. Yes, I read about that. We should have gone on Thursday but my husband was ill and when I phoned to explain, to my amazement they actually credited my account with the ticket price. If I could have rebooked for another date (which would probably have been Saturday) I would have, but it was a sell out. A shame for everyone affected.

Adam Denman from Guys and Dolls (Paris) to Guys and Dolls (Sheffield)! I think half the cast of 42nd Street moved to Paris after it closed to do Guys and Dolls. Would have been great if they could have all come up to Sheffield too.

I'm seeing it Wednesday. It's not the normal sort of stuff I see, but thought I would give it a whirl. It doesn't seem to be selling too well, so I've bought next to cheapest tickets and might move to the more expensive ones if I can. ;-)

I've just seen Buddy in Chesterfield, tomorrow We Will Rock You, and if I can keep awake I might squeeze in Wise Children at the cinema.

Tomorrow, I shall be in sunny Scarbados to see Birthdays Past, Birthdays Present, the latest play by birthday boy Alan Ayckbourn. Stephen Joseph is a lovely little theatre and very reasonably priced. Hope you enjoy it.

I don't know a single person who having seen the show hasn't loved it, but sadly it's not putting bums on seats and that's what counts.

Reviewed this at its launch in Edinburgh this week. Was great fun as always and audience reaction very positive. We saw it on Thursday as part of a birthday treat from our family. After about the first ten minutes (which seemed a bit flat), I really enjoyed it. The dancers were brilliant and it was very funny. Very impressed with Edinburgh Playhouse. It looks a bit of a dive from outside but is huge inside and I should imagine has good views everywhere as it's so wide.

Felt like a terribly long show and some rather lacklustre performances. Am I cynical to think that Kelvin was deliberately put at the endto keep everyone watching? I knew they’d pull him down after last week, possibly he was a bit cocky and needed it. I thought Visage was boring and she’s already started doing the “mother” thing. Huge ad for Drag Race UK though of course which just happens to be on BBC3. I feel sorry for Mike Bushell, already picked out as this year’s clown. Predictable. We were at a wedding last night so watched today. I said to my husband If she mentions her age or her two child births again I'll scream. Not sure if she did as I fast forwarded quite a lot of the dialogue. She is a pretty amazing dancer but if she's starting to irritate people already, she won't get the votes.

I saw this on Saturday and loved it. The plot's a bit thin, but they get away with that because all the actors and dancers look like they are having an absolute ball. It doesn't take itself too seriously and is very funny as well as having some amazing singers and dancers. Cassidy Jannsen has such a powerful voice for a tiny lady and Miriam Teak Leak (who I hadn't heard of before) really belts them out as a feisty Juliet. I had only vaguely heard of half the songs (Pink and Britney?), but it didn't matter at all as I don't know many songs when seeing new musicals. The theatre was packed (2 for 1 anybody?) and the audience loved it. I looked at the next few weeks and absolutely loads of empty seats, which is such a shame. I hope it does well in London. it's a juke box musical yes, but very different from what you would normally expect from this genre.

Thrilled they've added Sheffield to this as I couldn't get tickets when we were in London a couple of weeks ago.

Apparently they are from 22nd onwards on sold out shows. Confirmed as 12 standing places in the rear stalls, £15 each, to personal callers at the box office from 10am, strictly ONE per person.
Much as I love Les Mis and all the singers/actors in the concert version, 3.5 hours is way too long for me to consider standing. Mind you, I've already got two tickets to see it (in fairly uncomfortable seats admittedly) so quite happy with that.

From The Box Office have got some offers on with tickets at £15. Not too sure myself whether to risk it as some of it is in the open air and my husband does not like risking getting cold or wet any more, the old bones can't take it sadly.

I've got tickets which a friend kindly got for me at 2 for 1 ages ago and I'm taking my friend for her special birthday with a zero at the end. She's not a theatre nut like I am, so I really hope this is much better than people are expecting it to be. Oh well, it's a day out I suppose. ;-)

We're in London for about a week later on this month and I've got shows booked for every day except for Saturday matinee which I am hoping to save for Fidler. I keep looking for offers and apart from TKTS and the faint possibility of getting a rush seat from TodaysTix, I can't see anything, so it looks like TKTS, unless anyone can suggest elsewhere? Just trying to keep costs down as I've overspent already by quite a bit.

I've just had today's email offering tickets for The Illusionists for £15. I clicked the link and the only day where the £15 price showed was for the early Saturday morning show, so I clicked that only to see the cheapest tickets available were £25. Is it actually legal to offer tickets at a certain price and then none be available? Having said that, I clicked the link and the seats offered where in the circle, next to back row and on another site, they were £45 so still a bargain, but a bit annoying.

I saw it on Friday, after a horrendous journey over the Pennines due to all trains from Sheffield to Manchester being cancelled. We arrived 30 minutes before the start, no lunch except a Greggs sausage roll and then nearly had heart failure paying £9.75 for a large glass of wine (but we needed it). The show was fantastic. My sides ached with laughing and as everyone else has said, Elder Cunningham's comedic timing, not to mention superb singing and dancing made him the absolute star of the show. Thanks for the info on the costume change by the way. Very clever.

I've seen each version of the show so far and was pleased to be able to see it on the West End this evening. It was hust as good as I remember. Great cast. The Nativity scene surely has to be one of the funniest scenes going at the moment and I still find it a cracker even though I've seen it 3 times and know what's going to happen! Sad to see quite a few empty on a Saturday night but the audience loved it. It's a shame that it wasn't in a theatre a bit more viable and benifit a bit more from walk in trade. We're going next month and this (apart from the Les Mis concert version) is the only show I booked in advance, because it's our first day down and I didn't want to waste time day seating, paying full price. I could kick myself as it's discounting every day but hey ho! You can't win them all and maybe they will offer us a free upgrade. ;-)

I went last night in Sheffield to see this. I must admit it wasnt my choice to go as my other half booked, I dont know many of the songs so didnt know what to expect and wasnt particularly looking forward to it. Marcus wasnt on but Louise in his place,(2nd musical meant to have seen him in but he wasnt on!!) some stand out vocals especially Natalie Green and was surprised by how great Jake Quickenden was. Glad to have seen it to tick it off but not one would rush back to see. I saw it Tuesday night and wasn't overly impressed although agree most of the cast were very good singers. The sound was so loud that half the time I couldn't understand a word and only knowing the more popular songs. it didn't make a lot of sense. Or is it not supposed to?

Thanks everyone for your advice. We aren't going until August so rush tickets no help for us (yet) and I'm a bit worried that leaving it until we get there might be risky. I think I might just bite the bullet and go for the cheap seats. The old knees are a bit arthritic though if I can't stretch out much. (I know I can't have it both ways).

I keep looking to see if there are any kind of offers for this, but the £125 seats are still there. Has anyone day seated, and if so, what sort of tickets are offered?

I saw this last night in Aberdeen - with reservations after the comments on here regarding the kids etc. Yes, there was a bit of emotion missing without the kids and the beginning wasn't as good as the London production but overall, I LOVED this cast. Charlie and Lola were absolutely fantastic! The Aberdeen audience took a while to warm up but by the end they gave it a full standing ovation. One comment I have is that the accents are much more authentic than the times I saw it in London - so much so that my friend who came with me struggled to catch a lot of the dialogue. However, not a bad thing. I think the band may be scaled down, it sounded very synthesised and base-heavy to be honest and I reckon they could have played a track. I still love it though, well worth a trip if it comes to a town near you. Just back from seeing it in Sheffield and I totally agree with your review (having also seen it in London). I was a bit worried as a couple of friends who went on the first night (of a two week run) said they thought it was very amateurish. the lighting was all over the place and actually left at the interval. Move on to this week and I couldn't see any of the problems she encountered, in fact, I thought the first half was better than the second and the audience loved it. Standing ovations, whooping and cheering. Lola and Charlie. Just wow!

Sorry to ask but I'd love to take the mother to see this as she's a long time Elton fan, but I need to know how explicit the sex scenes are because she is rather sensitive to seeing that sort of thing on screen (the moment there's any kind of sex on TV, she'll whip the remote out and switch it right over).
Well I'm a just few years younger than Elton and a granny to 8 (had two more since I chose my theatre board moniker) and it didn't bother me. It's not explicit, but there's no doubt what they're doing.

Not sure about the pricing? My local independent cinema £12 At theatre in local Uni £13 Curzon £18.75 Odeon £20.25 Cineworld £20.70 😱 Wow I didn't realise there were such big differences, I thought it was the same everywhere. It's good to see that the independent place is the cheapest. We're on holiday (in the UK) when Small Island has it's cinema screening and the local independent theatre/cinema is charging £17 with no discounts for it. I saw All My Sons at my local Odeon Luxe for £13.95 (senior discount, which no one ever checks) and it will also be the same price for Small Island.

Am I right in say MB played Edna on the first UK tour? I remember it being my first musical I saw in the Edinburgh Playhouse, around 2010 if I'm correct. Can't remember loads- but do remember Tracey's stand up bed, I was amazed as a kid at that. Also remember the big can of hairspray shooting confetti when it opens to Edna. And of course remember Mum gushing over MB afterwards! Love this show- cannot wait to catch it next year! Yes, you are, and wasn't he amazing? I went with my friend (not as avid a musical theatre fan as me) and we just loved it.
