You’d hope by now they’ve cast the tour!

Seems like this has been a big disappointment for the ENO. Let’s hope they can get the casting and promos right for the tour.

Personally it was lovely to finally see Lea but it felt very “in and out let’s make the money and leave”. Not much warmth to the performances and it felt like a money maker.
Wish Lea would do a full show in the UK again.

I’d be interested to know what operas we’d like to see (slightly off topic but related). It’s been so long since Parsifal and I’d love to see Das Liebesverbot. Leaving Wagner aside (as a brain dump) how about Fedora, Fanciulla del West, Stiffelio, Ernani, Turn of the Screw and Les Hugenots? 😀

Any update on casting for the Tour? I was thinking that, surely leaving things rather late. I liked the tour which was about 2006? Honor Blackman was sublime as Mrs Higgins and Amy Nuttal was a charming Eliza.

I must relook at the season again but I’ve also not continued my membership. It looked dull.

Has anyone tried the stage door for this? Just wondering if it’s been barred due to the ongoing pandemic or whether the cast are able to meet people if people act responsibly at the stage door.

Was my original topic not the same as this one? Hmmm i'll have to ponder this one a while, on the face of it this season is dull.

I thought last year's event was wonderful, the singing & live band really added to the occasion.
Does anyone happen to know if the date for this year's 10th Anniversary show has been confirmed yet? Thanks 10th anniversary?! Where the hell did that time go!!!

I've also heard that meeting her is not a pleasant experience as she will belittle you. I didn't know Richard E. Can't was on this forum! I bet her bark is worse than her bite. Well i'll try later in the week anyway. I consider myself to be a nice person so unlikely to cause much offence!

Blimey...I saw on the ROH facebook page an upload of the Act 1 duet between Alvaro and Leonora from the recent cinema broadcast...how glad am I that I'm seeing a different cast next week!

Saw this in Dartford on Tuesday. Jodie Prenger accent kind of gyrates with me, but it kind of suited the character. As I said when I saw it inRichmond this plays characterisation is everything I deapise, where people are materialistic and pretentious, this could be make Mike Leigh’s play so appealing. I enjoyed this but wasn’t as good as the Richmond Theatre or Garrick Theatre. I saw this a while back and hated the accent that Jodie used. I also wasn't a fan on her take on the role which was actually quite vindictive, as opposed to causing pain ignorantly which is the take on the role I prefer.

Also completely agree about Mel (and Gavin) loved it - 'It's cinnamon, the strange taste in the coffee is cinnamon Bobbie.' It was the eating of the brownies that did it for me. How many do you think she must have got through in the entire run?!

From my experience theatregoing even the worse performance leaves me with at least once memory of something...whether or not that is positive, it is certainly memorable!!!

tonyloco once again you make me immensely jealous with those wonderful performance you have been. Bastianini AND Corelli! Yes I agree Tucci was less than ideal but there have certainly been worse Leonoras! Then Pauline Tinsley, that must have been a force to recon with (ironically there I actually meant no pun!!).

I love this play for what it is, don't expect groundbreaking theatre though.
Coincidentally I've heard stories this theatre is in fact haunted by a woman in black...so ironic!

I simply adore this woman although she's never let me have a photo with her She toured with this show about 5 years ago and it was really really interesting to those who don't know of her wonderful career in musical theatre. She has a chat with a host which is obviously scripted which is interspersed with clips of her records over the time. I loved hearing about her performances in Darling of the Day in particular. I was upset when she pulled out of doing the 50th celebration performance of My Fair Lady at Covent Garden, she would have had so much fun with Mrs Higgins! Hehe

Does that mean his dancing is a bit poor in the show? Maybe they should convert the floor to ice for him! I believe he zooms around on rollerskates as it's a touring production the cant ice over the stages Ohhh that would have been fun on ice!

Does anyone else think they massively overpriced this show and it would be better suited in a smaller venue?
