They brought in Raffaella Covino from SW to play Gabriela Garcia's old track and be 1st cover Nina I know, that's why I made the joke... Never mind! Silly me, went right over my head!

Have they got any more Southwark cast left to come and fill roles? They must be running out soon. They brought in Raffaella Covino from SW to play Gabriela Garcia's old track and be 1st cover Nina

I don't think playing both Fiyero and Boq is actually a possibility, at least going by the Equity casting breakdown: Fiyero is 5'11'' and above while Boq is 5'7'' and below.

Idriss may even be the first black Boq ever, I know Elphaba, Fiyero, Wizard, Morrible & Dillamond have all been played by black actors at one point but this may be a new one.

HA! Guess who just retweeted it- miss Carrie Hope Fletcher.. see I might believe this was just an unsuccessful joke on Benanti's part, I do NOT like Carrie, one bit, and have no doubt she retweeted it in the serious sense... Just ughh... cant stand the girl Would you mind telling me why people dislike Carrie Hope Fletcher? Never seen her perform, but have heard a lot of people saying they disliked her. This is just my view, but my main issue with Carrie is actually her fans, they get very annoying especially at stage door; and I posted a comparison video on Youtube a while ago of different Eponines singing the ending high note of On My Own and half the comments are just people bickering over whether Carrie is good/the best ever/suitable for the role etc etc etc. She also has a reputation for searching her name on twitter and responding to comments, even ones that didn't tag her directly, which sends her hoards of fans over to that person if she disagreed with them particularly. And there's this little whinge, when the original tweet is clearly more directed at the directing than the actors. I notice it didn't stop her doing photos/performances/interviews with Frances when the 30th anniversary came around.

About 4-5 days before I had a week booked in London seeing shows last September (mostly dayseating), I had an awful fall off my bike which scraped up my knee and thus gave me a nice limp for my entire trip. I foolishly planned my trip so I'd have only an hour or two window to get to my hostel (in Tottenham!), drop off my suitcase, take the train back to central London and get to the Savoy to see the evening performance of Gypsy. What I didn't take into account was a) my new speed handicap, b) the hostel was right next to the Tottenham Hotspurs' stadium and c) I was arriving on a match day. Long story short, I ended up resorting to £10 for a rickshaw to the theatre as soon as I got out of the tube station and still arrived 10-15 minutes late for the show, very sweaty and flustered. The show itself wasn't the bad experience (though I admit I did have some difficulty seeing what all the fuss was about), just the lead-up and the getting there!

A few months ago I was at the Hippodrome Casino watching a cabaret put on by the Miss Saigon cast. 2 girls sitting near us were talking before the show started which wasn't really an issue (plus I overheard some West End gossip so every cloud), but they continued their conversation once it had started and talked their way through a good 3 songs, when they ordered more alcohol to be brought to their seats I decided to move. I'm pretty sure they talked through most of the show.

From what I know, on the day of the anniversary gala the entire show was filmed including the special finale with Lea and co. and just before they closed they brought back some of the leads who'd previously left (Rachelle and Kwang-Ho, not sure about the others) to film bits they might have missed during the gala, but with the current ensemble presumably to save on the cost of bringing back everyone who'd left at cast change. What we're going to see in the cinema is the full gala performance (show + finale), with the extra filmed bits cut in to make the performance more complete.

She's excelled in several comedic roles such as Nancy in Oliver, and Fantine in Les Mis I found her very funny when I saw her as Mimi in Rent and her Out Tonight sounded like an owl hooting

If it gets any worse they'll have to bring in cast members from the Southwark run.
Though for understudy chasers I'd put my money on Sarah Naudi making her debut as Nina this week with Lily off sick and Gabriela going on holiday

Has this been posted before? Well that was certainly an experience Highlights: The giant museum gift shop pencil Bruiser played by one of the girls running offstage and making dog noises Elle's wig bearing an uncanny resemblence to tagliatelle Elle being nearly a foot taller than her sorority sisters The shop workers wearing lab coats The fact that all this is excusable for a standard school production but going by the advert at the end this is a show put on by a performing arts school

I was 10-15 minutes late to Gypsy because I made the mistake of thinking I could check into my youth hostel (in Tottenham!) and get to the Savoy in the space of an hour.

Monday's cast board according to twitter, I think that leaves 4 roles (Usnavi, Vanessa, Abuela, Graffiti Pete) played by their principle actors! Is there some sort of plague going round the cast?

In Everything I Know Nina says something like "there's a picture of the ladies at Daniela's, you can tell it's from the 90s by the volume of their hair" so wouldn't Daniela have to be at least 30-odd?

Odd that there hasn't been an official announcement, didn't Nathan Amzi get one when he returned briefly?
In other news Eve Polycarpou has tweeted that she's leaving on the 10th April too.

Is Daniel Bedingfield alright? Looks like Simon Shorten's been on for the Artillaryman quite a bit recently.

These are the muck-ups & changes I can remember from the matinee:
- In Backstage at Dreamland Marsha (Gigi) shoved Eloisa Tan (Yvette) on the floor when all the girls came in bickering
- When Christian (Engineer) went “a virgin will give them a treat” one of the bargirls said “virgin my ass!”
- All the GIs took their shirts off in the Dreamland sequence, Kurt Kansley started it right near the start then Aaron Lee Lambert and by the end of it all of them were shirtless
- In Movie in My Mind one of the barmen got some… pleasuring from Denise Baaij (Mimi)
- After Sun and Moon the applause went on longer than usual so Chris and Tanya (Kim) had to keep kissing
- In Dju Vui Vai Eloisa started taking Tanya’s shoes off her while she was still wearing them, then went “ugh, they stink!” when putting them in the bag. Also one of the bargirls/men took a photo of the barman on the far right eating his noodles.
- In Morning of the Dragon when Ethan Le Phong and Romeo Salazar (both ensemble) brought Christian out they shouted their instructions in English rather than Vietnamese: “move it!”, “kneel down!” etc.
- Tanya did a lovely little riff at the end of I’d Give My Life For You
- At the start of What a Waste when Romeo (club owner) comes through to yell at the club promoters he said to Christian “do something about your hair, you look like a hairdresser” which prompted Christian to say “what an asshole!”
- Sooha Kim (street vendor) was being overly pushy about selling her food and repeatedly spinning the tray on her hand, then David Kar-Hing Lee (club promoter) pulled her back from the crowd by her plait
- After Eloisa’s ping-pong trick a tourist lay down underneath her to look at where it’d come from, also 2 ensemble guys kept grabbing on to Eloisa’s hand and not letting her go back up the stairs afterwards
- By the time the scene transition to Too Much For One Heart 2 of the Moulin Rouge dancers were wearing 2 of the boys' tourist hats and one of the boys had got onto the platform and started dancing as well
- After TMFOH and Romeo comes in he did a flouncy little backbend on “Sir! Would you like a massage?” which Hugh (John) imitated when he responded “No thanks it’s not my scene”
- Chris did a huge Spiderman-style jump from the top of the embassy stairs at the start of the Nightmare
- Marsha plays her Nightmare character as Gigi recognising Kim so just before the helicopter appeared she and Tanya had a lovely little moment together before Tanya ran off
- Christian said sh*te instead of sh*t at the end of American Dream
- The ensemble boys hi-fived each other while running downstage for their bows, and all the ensemble clapped too when Natalie (Ellen) & Tanya came out for their bows
- When Christian did the standard “bend down and point to the right” for Tam’s bow, instead the standby Tam ran on in costume from the other side for a bow then the actual Tam came on from the right with flowers for Tanya
