The issue to me of increasing the price of seats is that it only works if they have a success, a well known play or a star that people want to see, but surely if the NT does this then it will no longer be the National Theatre.

I agree, feels like it will be a much better cast.

As I recall the comedian role was the weakest part of the show. Has the comedian role changed much since Bath?

NT Future was judged the UK Theatre Building of the Year in The Stage Awards. Anyone agree?? I really feel that for all the money spent, the NT has lost something that made it special, they have stopped doing exhibitions, eg the landscape photography show is now on in Waterloo Train Stn and they stopped having live music a few years ago. What the NT feels like now is a cross between a gastro pub and a library all be it with low lighting.

Oh how I hated this! Escaped at the interval but waiting was purgatory. Still, my first miss of what has otherwise been a good year so far. The Second Act is way better

Thought they were meant to be moving to their new space about now, must be delayed or I've goy it wrong (again). I think they are moving in to the new theatre in May/June

I like to be able to choose where to sit depending on the layout of the production, changing from unreserved to allocated seating seems to allow theatres to increase their ticket prices. That said I too like the Union theatre's policy which is fair to those who arrive early and allows people to get a drink without having to queue up

Ugh. I wish their first choice had said yes. Mrs Lewis = wild horses. Go on then, I'll bite - who was their first choice? If Helen McCrory wasn't the first choice, I wonder who it was, am I right in thinking Hestor is in her early 40's - In that case I would have liked to see Nancy Carroll, but then not everyone likes her either.

Can't help but feel that this play is very lucky to get staged, is Matthew Perry a big enough name?

Duke of Yorks cast according to an email I received is: Kenneth Cranham, Amanda Drew, Rebecca Charles, Brian Doherty and Jade Williams.
Which means that either Brian Doherty is playing two parts or that there is another actor yet to be named...

Can't say this sounds all that great to me, I wonder how much will be cut and what the setting will be?

I wonder if Carrie Cracknell will use dancing in the production?

I'd say part of the problem with the part was that he perhaps didn't know how to play certain scenes, and whilst I was watching him I kept thinking of how Alan Rickman did it. In part I'd say the same with Josie Rourke who I really feel is keen to have a concept which means the original ending that is in the play script is left out.

Interesting as for me the weakest person of the main 4 was I'm sad to say David Haig, but I'd still say the audience seemed flat for some reason when I saw it

I wonder if this a play that works well in a small theatre but shows its failings when put into a larger theatre?

I saw this production a few days ago, and as hard as the cast tried, it really didn't seem to engage the audience, which I found really odd as the theatre was full.

As much as I really enjoy the show, I remember feeling when I first saw it, that it was always going to be a marmite show. I agree that the pricing has been really odd, as this was a show that needed word of mouth and attract groups. In a way its as if the producers weren't sure who to aim at.
