I have just caught up on the "full" broadcast, so I've now seen some of the bits cut from the highlights. I thought the Bend It performance was truly awful, and really did the show no favours (and I quite liked it!) I can only assume that they couldn't muster enough of the disbanded cast for a full number that would have represented the show better. In that respect 7BF7B put them to shame; that was lovely. Although I think the choreography in the recent UK tour was a bit more exciting. I had forgotten the Bugsy performance - I thought that a bit disappointing, as was the only other clip I've seen on TV (Sunday at the Palladium, or something.) - I haven't seen it live. I loved the Mischief Comedy guys presenting the "Award for best performance in a sequel". If you were fast forwarding through the show and missed it, see here:Have to agree Bend it like Beckham wasn't good, but then Mrs Henderson wasn't that great either I would have chosen different songs for both shows, I wonder who decides which song will be used?

My view is that too many long running shows is not good for the West End, theatre isn't a museum and new shows good or bad bring variety to the West End. As much as I agree, I'm kinda glad that there are shows I don't need to see again as it allows me to not spend all my money going to the theatre, that said it would be good if there were more new shows in the WE but producers over here seem to be very safe in their choices.

With regard to the nominations I think it would have been very easy to have chosen a more diverse and if honest a better list of performers, the problem as Mark Shenton noted was that the committee had no say in the final nominations and because it is SOLT plus those theatres that pay to join the club, not every theatre gets represented.

Here are my thoughts. For once I have seen most of the winning shows. As others have said this year it was the nominations which made this years awards rather predictable, but also made me concerned that the Oliviers were going to pick the most famous names. However, unlike the Standard awards I don't think there are any obvious errors. The play awards were spread around so that only Hangmen won two, yet despite being the best play none of the cast were nominated, same with best revival, which I'm glad went to Ma Rainy, which shows how odd the nominations were. Of the main theatres The Donmar was probably the biggest loser overall as they came away with nothing.
With regard to musicals I was hoping for a surprise or two but I think the winners were fairly clear but its a shame that Emma Williams didn't get a share of the best supporting actress prize. That said I still don't understand the purpose of the Outstanding Achievement in Music award.

The Young Vic "Streetcar" revolve was impressive, particularly the way its speed reflected emotions. It might have been impressive but it was also very annoying and for me made me feel less involved in the story especially when in one scene it stopped and I could see very little of what was going on.

Can we move on from the nudity now? It's boring. The problem I have is that having seen it twice once in Bath and in London, is that its not a show that I'm keen to see again nor to be honest rave about to my friends, its not without its fans but how many will see it lots of times. Isn't this that helps make a show a hit?

My query is based on the Anna Friel version which I saw a few years ago which had nudity, (really for no good reason) and I think had a dog but not 100% certain. Hence my question.

Saw the show yesterday afternoon, I thought the show was better than when I saw it in Bath. However, the problems with the show in my opinion (already mentioned on here by others) still remain. Namely the show should really shift focus in the second act on Emma Williams and what happens to Maureen, instead of spending so much time with Mrs Henderson and Vann Damm.
Yesterday both the upper circle and balcony were closed.

I saw this last night, I wasn't aware of anyone fainting or walk outs, I was left some what annoyed by the way Katie Mitchell has put her trade marks into this production and I left the theatre non the wiser about what Sarah Kane was trying to say, having seen many of her plays this was a first for me.
Also when on earth are the NT going to sort out the queuing for the Dorfman cloakroom after the show ends it really is poor

Johnny Flynn really ought to have been nominated but there are plenty of other performers who might have got one too. The awards also really show up that these are for the West End so Amanda Lawrence misses out which is a real shame. What I find odd is that bar a few exceptions the nominated shows have all opened just before or after Christmas, so any show that was on last summer has a lesser chance of getting nominated. What is the qualifying period?

Dromgoole's time in charge has in my opinion been a great success, in particular it has been a joy to see over the years a company of actors emerge and see them perform in various productions at the Globe and Wanamaker, it is sad to think that Emma Rice doesn't seem keen to build on this company of actors. Oh is that what you've heard/read etc., not likely to continue with those actors you just always see there and know how to play the space? No I wouldn't say that, but just going on the comments Emma Rice made in an interview she gave and based on any castings announced, I hope I'm wrong, but I feel she feels the need to bring changes..... and these could mean that actors who have been seen at the Globe may no longer be wanted or wish to work there as they were part of a previous regime. This always happens like say at the NT. I guess my main concern is that the comments she made, and she clearly wanted to say them about Shakespeare being boring etc were I felt a bit of a worry as to the direction she is looking to take the theatre she runs.

Really enjoyed seeing this production last night, but not convinced that the revolving set is that great an idea, I think its hard to single out any one in the cast as all were good.

I booked tickets yesterday, the website was slow and it was hard to find good seats at a reasonable price. I ended up losing my ticket basket and having to start over as the NT as the shopping timer told me I had more time to pay than I had, what I don't understand is why when logged in and with tickets in my basket, I ended up losing all of them?

If the Oliver Awards are the British equivalent of the American Tony Awards. I guess the What's On Stage Awards are equivalent to Drama Desk Awards? The WOS stage awards remind me of the TV Choice awards. The Olivier Awards like to think that they are the Tonys, but really are more like the Evening Standard awards. The only awards I respect are the Critics Choice Awards but winning one of them is fairly meaningless to most people.

With no disrespect to Kinnear, McCrory etc are they the big names people will pay £65 to see? In 2018 people might pay that for Ralph Fiennes but he's been doing so much theatre that he won't be that much of a draw. Also with these Ralph Fiennes productions they were / are short runs, where as the NT shows will be over a longer period which may well mean some tickets will end up at Leicester Square tkts
