So if they are using the tour orchestrations then I think we can definitely agree they can stop all pretence this is the return of the "brilliant original"

I think it's unfair to judge her by Chess as the production was a steaming pile of... I really liked it.

I didn't warm to her in Chess but I think she may be really good as The Narrator. I can imagine her giving a good belt where it's needed. Just hope they drop the comedy though. Anyone think there's a chance this might be filmed/streamed for extra revenue? Wouldn't mind seeing it but really don't fancy travelling down to London just for the one show

Also don't see what the fuss is all about, he's not even that hot. Glad someone else said it. I was wondering what all the fuss was about.

Hot buns man has made a return on the official Cinderella account. He’s not singing now though. The accompanying strapline is still cringe though http://instagr.am/p/CNGBV9DFTFt Don't know if the cast has been announced, but that's Andy Rees. All that puts me in mind of is one of the tasks on The Apprentice where they run around random London locations trying to sell tat

They've just performed on Comic Relief... They just died on Comic Relief... Who signed it off and what have they been drinking? That wasn't a great promo for the show. The real thing was way better than that.

Tour to recommence in June apparently and they've set their sights on bringing it back to the West End. As much as I enjoyed this tour I'm not sure it's WE worthy.

I'm possibly more excited about the potential Comic Relief take off of it than I am the real film. Comic Relief are spoofing it? French and Saunders already did it brilliantly a few years ago

[quote authorThat's a very big move just to shoehorn 'Summer Night City' in. I love that song and hope they can include it somewhere. That and Head Over Heels, which is very under rated imo.
If MM3 really is happening, i'll find out and let you all know. [/quote]
Don't forget Summer Night City is actually in the original stage show as part of the Entr'acte leading into Under Attack and the dream sequence so there's always scope to use it in that way

Thinking back to the ENO, the only two things I didn’t like were the “floating” body, and “Unnecessary Norma” lurking around in the background. That floating body was just bizarre and actually really distracting where I sat up in the cheap seats as it was just at eye level.

Their social media posts are getting more and more patronising, spelling out the story like a child's storybook. Don't know what they're hoping to achieve with them as at the moment they're just giving people a chance to pile in and criticise that the original staging isn't returning

So the POTO page on Facebook is taking a bit of a battering. They've posted a picture in memory of Maria who would have been 72 today and everyone's commenting about thw hypocrisy of posting that whilst removing her set pieces from the show.

The Vegas production was only 95 minutes long. It seems to get a lot of love despite the fact that it was butchered to the extent that it couldn’t really be the same show. The chandelier looked pretty spectacular though. I was watching a video of the overture in Vegas yesterday. The chandelier assembling was definitely spectacular but it did put me in mind of something out of Close Encounters of the Third Kind

Just been looking on youtube at videos which compare the fall of the chandelier in various productions- boy it falls pretty fast in some of them! There is a video of a non-replica Polish production (won't post the link as it's not an official video so don't think it would be allowed on here)The design of the chandelier in that looks very similar to the one in the plans submitted to Westminster, and that one rises and falls in the style of the original so I'm still holding out hope.

I didn't feel as moved by last night's episode as I have with the other. I felt that it was 'ticking boxes' about what they felt they had to reference (tombstone ad, clause 28 etc) The funeral scene at the beginning was quite moving,as was the part where the one character listed all the dates for the funerals which were coming up.

It's a presumption based on images from the UK tour, which after the gilded stacks, had a permanent false gold arch proscenium, very much the same shape as depicted in the mock up. Unless that's a photo of the UK tour's short lived run at Manchester, that's the 2012 chandelier being used because the Curve Theatre couldn't accommodate The tour never made it as far as Manchester. If it had we may have found out whether the chandelier at the Curve was indeed a temporary measure

Call me cynical but if this is going to be a series of posts preparing us for Phantom's return, then I don't think we're getting the original chandelier back. Unless I'm mistaken the photo of the chandelier here is not the original design /

Watching weekly too, really don't think this is something I could watch in one go. As others have said above the bonfire scene at the end was very powerful and upsetting showing how the family wanted to wipe his life out completely. On a lighter note am I guessing right that this is filmed in Manchester and not London? The buildings have those distinctive red bricks you see in Manchester. Yes you're right, a lot of the locations are in Manchester. Lots of friends have already been posting pictures of themselves outside the Pink Palace. Some of the locations are listed here but may be considered spoilers if you've not seen every episode yet. www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/tv/manchester-filming-locations-used-channel-19674900

Watching weekly here too. Most of my friends seem to have binged it but I'd rather take my time with it. Tonight's episode was another stunner, that ending really packed a punch.

Listening to this on and off today. Have so far heard two versions of One Day More and it struck me how much Les Mis has changed between the original cast recording (gorgeous) and the 2020 concert cast (twice as fast and very shouty!) They do seem to be playing a good range of showtunes. Looking at comments on social media there's a lot of regular listeners moaning about the takeover but loads more praising it!
