Opening night of Zurich! Exciting! Excited for your review! I feel we have a similar taste in Elphabas (Nikki & Jackie etc...) so your opinion on Amy will mean a great deal!

Apparently Emma Hatton attends Wicked just so she can jump onstage during Wonderful to do her jazz hands!

Make sure to give us your thoughts on the cast Welsh_Tenor, I'd love to know what you think about the cast before I see them in Liverpool!

Today was the final day of rehearsals for the tour cast before they open the show in Zurich They’ll be rehearsing from Monday in the venue, they’ve still got tech/sitzprobe to get through yet! Oh yes I understand that of course, but I mean their London rehearsals before flying over to Zurich. I'm very excited to see this cast, especially having no previous knowledge of the three leads! I think I have nearly 30 shows that I'm attending between Liverpool and Manchester!

I just booked to see the show in January, so I'm very excited to get the opportunity to see Alice as Elphaba and Maria as Glinda!

Thanks for the warm greeting everyone, it's great to be back! I must say, I am rather excited for this tour. Hoping to catch a good few understudy shows along to way!

I may or may not be attending 15 shows while the tour is in Dublin.... anyone who knows me well enough will be able to work out whether this it true or not!

I think it's an excellent idea to have as many covers as they do, considering the near disaster that happened in the tour back in 2015!

I'm really excited for Maria, I'm glad she finally has the opportunity to be standby for a while. I'm planning a trip to London in January so I might make it coincide with her dates, as I imagine Sophie will be around longer than Maria!

I'm really curious about what is happening with Jessamy. She initially told people that she was staying on as understudy Elphaba and her sudden departure made us all think she was a shoe in for the tour. I guess she didn't enjoy Wicked all that much!

Finally, the wait will be over tomorrow! I'll be in the middle of a lecture when the news is announced, but I'm sure I won't miss out on too much while I'm glued to Twitter! Jessamy has been at the Apollo Victoria a few times since leaving earlier in the year, and not as cover, which would make the theory of her being the standby rather solid. We'll find out tomorrow I suppose!

We can now say for definite that the cast announcement will be coming next week, how fun! Can we lol? To be honest, I would not be surprised if there was no news next week and the night before the tour opens there's a quick "Sorry we forgot, here's the tour cast"

why are you all excited for it? some threads up here it looked like you all already know who will be in the cast? Just to highlight, I was being sarcastic when saying "how fun" as we basically know who the cast is, and it's so overdue that all excitement has been drained from the announcement.

A friend of mine said that none of the international tour Elphabas or Glindas were returning, he seems to be right so far so I imagine he could also be right with regards to the understudies (Zoe, Elizabeth etc..) Natasha has already confirmed she won't be returning.

I really hope the Glinda is Helen Woolf, she has received rave reviews across the board so would enjoy witnessing her portrayal. I'm a bit concerned about Aaron in the role of Fiyero, but I have been surprised by "celebrity" cast before so time will tell. I know nothing of Amy Ross (in truth, I never heard of her before the rumours began circulating).
I would love for Kim Ismay to return, she was certainly a standout among the international tour cast. As for the standby Elphaba position, I think that Jessamy is a likely candidate. I remember finding her departure from Wicked so soon as odd, especially since she seemed to enjoy being with Wicked!

I plan to see the production when it comes to Dublin, will all the current cast still be there by the time it arrives at Bord Gais?

The consensus from the majority seems to indicate that Sophie doesn't have "what it takes" for the role. It's a shame really, she seems really passionate about playing the role. A few people I know have compared her Glinda to Savannah Stevenson when it comes to humour, so essentially she has no humour. While Glinda is obviously a role with so many layers, humour is vital to the character in the first act especially! From the majority of what? Obsessive fans of someone else? Unemployed actors who went for the job? People used to 30 plus year old students at shiz? Sophie was very funny when I went . the proof is rather obvious - people laughed . Its even recorded on the few youtubes there are so far - there's laughter in the right places. I was only taking this information from many well established members on this forum, who I can trust quite well when it comes to their opinions. I'll be seeing Sophie soon myself, and I look forward to seeing what she does with the role. No need to be so sensitive, we're all friends here.

I'm still amused at the thought of it being September 29th, the very last possible time in the month for the announcement so they would not be lying!

If it was due to be announced yesterday I think they would have put it back, due to events in London. I imagine it will be announced nearer the end of the month really at this stage

Would the full cast have not already been selected by the time Aaron Sidwell had been leaked as the new Fiyero? I can't see any other reason why they would delay the rest of the release

Ok ok, you all make compelling arguments about the difference between tour & London/Broadway! Maybe it's not such a bad idea.... May I ask why you were initially so against the idea of there being an alternate? Elphaba is one of the hardest vocal roles in musical theatre, both male and female being included. Doing eight shows a week, I think, is totally crazy. Having an alternate isn't admitting that the performer isn't capable of handling the role, in fact I think it's them being quite smart. If they are only performing six times a week, it is making sure that those six performances are of a higher quality (and of course ensures that the performer doesn't work themselves to breaking point). I'd much rather see a lead in good health with an alternate, than a lead in bad health who can say they perform at every show.
