I laughed way more than I thought I would at Angels but it was so funny, especially in the delivery
eta: some of it was you had to laugh or you would cry

Saw this last night. She was superb. But I had some strange reactions to it. I'm not a music person. More audio books and podcasts on my phone. The music I do have is 42nd Street soundtrack and Strange Fruit by Billie Holiday. I don't listen to it often because I always have a reaction to it, usually crying. I was sure that when I heard her sing it I would have a visceral reaction. But it didn't happen. Not sure why. Maybe I have seen too many family members in that condition or maybe I just didn't believe.
I admired her performance. What an incredible hard job to pull off, basically on your own but there was something missing for me and I'm not sure what

1. First off I went to The Wallace Collection. I opened my bottle of water on the 1st floor landing. It was my sparkling water and not the still water. Squirted all in front of me and one the floor. I used my sweater (jumper?) to wipe up all the water on the floor. Someone comes up and (very nicely) said that they don't allow fizzy water any more as not too long ago someone opened it and it got on a painting. Was so embarrassed. Gave up my bottles with profuse apologies. 2. Got to the British Museum later than I had hoped but got through the Egyptian exhibit on the first floor and then we were evacuated for security reasons. It went very smoothly and luckily my vacation is long enough that I can schedule for another day 3. Decided that this all has been Fates way of telling me I needed to get to my room, have an early night and rest my legs. There was a car accident on the bus route and we had a long detour until we finally got back on route. I'm in my room and not leaving it tonight Almost forgot. I missed my stop but there was a Tesco on the next one so I went in and got some scones, clotted cream (how did I live without this before) and fruit spread for my breakfast tomorrow. As Scarlett in Gone With The Wind says "After all... tomorrow is another day"

Sean Spicer is from my hometown of Barrington Rhode Island. His mother still lives there. There are already FB pages set for "what Barrington Bushes have you spotted Sean in"

"Corkscrew comedies"? That seems a very odd description for this archetypal backstage story, which truly is a tale as old as time (and BRILLIANTLY done in this production) I really need to re-read what I write before I hit "post". I meant screwball comedy. Maybe I was wishing I had a corkscrew in my room for that nice bottle of wine I bought? The female lead part probably wasn't written strong enough to qualify as a true screwball, but I hope you know what I meant now. Those depression era films were so wonderful and this production gave me that same type of escapism that I really needed last night. I loved that show and, as I said before, it raised my spirits and made me forget my achy woes.

I've been hitting the tourist trail pretty hard since arriving Sunday. Today was rough. I strained my calf muscle while walking all though Tower of London, and that was on my good leg. So I'm slowly limping around, phone reception goes all wacky and I can't pull up map to theatre. Leg so bad I couldn't wonder around looking for it, even though I knew I was close what with all the other theatres around. Finally got it figured out and work my way over there. Big class of wine and nice conversation with some people that let me share their table.
Got in my seat (A1 Stall is fantastic), the music started and I smiled and laughed the whole time. All cares and pain were forgotten. It took me back to all of the depression era corkscrew comedies that used to play late at night on the TV when I was a kid
Trying to figure out if i can fit more more trip there before I have to go home

Saw this evening and it was wonderful. The screens worked so well with the story. I was cheering with tears running down my face at the end. Surprised by a few of the minor characters, they were standing like they didn't know what to do with their arms and legs when other characters were speaking.
I laughed a bit and swallowed the wrong way and started to cough. I was trying desperately to control it when an angel of a man behind me handed me his bottle of water. Saved my pride. Was so embarrassed. Hopefully I won't read about myself in the bad behavior topic.

Darn! The Senior Concession tickets aren't available for Sat evening performances. I'm not sure if I would have qualified anyway. 62 with US drivers license to prove age?

The excellent Irish actress Derbhle Crotty is taking over from Juliet Stevenson as Gertrude from 4 July. Drat, I was really looking forward to seeing Juliet Stevenson.

Aw, you go to sleep, dear. You sound cranky. I was very cranky. I'm sorry if that carried over to my post. In regards to the show itself, I enjoyed when I was first watching it and loved when Spacey did some of his impersonations but then I started thinking, "Yea, I get those references but I'm 62 years old". And the several "in the closet" references were really annoying. Really? Who cares? So I think the show really took a step backwards from last year. It's turned back into "Yes, this is your Grandma's Tony show". However, seeing the songs from the shows has made me determined that, once I'm back from London trip, that I will start going to NY to see some shows. Not sure if I can even do once a month. The train fare alone is $100. Will have to be for a matinee as the train schedule doesn't allow for evening show also.

LOL oh, that's true I totally forgot what the word on the street is. Whatever he is, he reads straight. Too tired to respond fully. I have no "word on the street". I just haven't heard one way or another. I just know he is so friggin great in so many things and haven't heard that any of that was dependent on his sexuality. Only that he is private. Good night all !!!!

This tells you where my America is when Jill Biden gets a standing ovation. And I love it I would like to live in/visit your America. Well so would I. But unfortunately it only appears in brief moments, between the Orange Man Yelling and the Congress Hiding Behind His Toupee. My America has become a Brigadoon.

Yes, from 0030 on polling day they can't comment on polls or the political parties chances or manifestos until the polls close Thanks! Sometimes I wish we had that. I ALWAYS wish we had that.Preferably starting 12 months before the next election.
