I've just had the pleasure of revisiting Burt Lancaster in The Swimmer, and came to the conclusion that this has strong similarities to Company in the device of a central character dipping, literally, in and out of a gamut of other people's lives, all who claim that he is so close and essential to them, but heck, there's little real connection. But then the device of the outsider being used to expose snapshots of other people's life is a familiar narrative trick. The Swimmer would actually make for a great stage piece. Dang, I haven't thought of that movie in years. Now I have got to see it again. It was wonderful in a sad kind of way

I'm seeing a matinee so I'm assuming that they won't go to stage door on 2 show days?

Been crazy busy with work, trying to get ready to leave for London Oct 26. I cannot believe that I'm sitting here trying to figure out if I can get 4 days in London for my February birthday to see All About Eve, Come From Away, True West and Follies.
WHAT HAVE YOU PEOPLE DONE TO ME !!!

I think the question should be “what kind of a freak lists the songs in alphabetical order and not the order they are sung”

Weirdly, I came on here during a 'break' from writing about...this very thing. So in my case 'debating' how much casting Andrew Garfield in Angels was, if not stunt casting then 'star casting' with a view to selling tickets (likewise Lane, who while not stunt casting is certainly a name you use to sell tickets) AND how this differs between actual 'stunt casting' I'm a theatre newbie and Andrew Garfield being in Angels was not a consideration in me getting tickets. In fact I rather felt "ugh" about it. But it was amazing. I never saw Andrew Garfield, Spidey or whoever on the stage. I only saw, heard, commiserated and cried for Prior.

And as for when Jonny B comes on stage. Well he'll get a standing ovation from me. Every single time. Fnar. Giggled like crazy at this.

I live 3 hours from NY and have seen a total of 2 Broadway plays. I went to London last year and saw probably 12 or more plays. I'm going again next month and have tickets to 22 (does The Inheritance count as 1 or 2) plays so far. And yes, Hamilton is one of them Even tickets to the National tours that come to Providence are more expensive then all but 4 of the London plays I'm seeing. And that's with my senior discount. Getting to NY, spending the weekend and getting tickets to a couple of shows would take up a big chunk of my London budget. Sure I could get cheaper tickets but they would be for plays I don't want to see. ETA: I just double checked and I saw 10 plays last years trip to London. My god, what did I do with all the rest of my evenings???

When I can't remember something simple, "What is that unforgettable line?" Why can I remember that but not what I'm trying to remember?

I agree with the above and can't see why 2 national treasures chose to take part. There's no reason to go and see this other than to sit back and enjoy their performances. As a tourist I don't know when I'll get a chance to see these actors again so I'm looking at dates to fit my schedule. Ready to sit back and enjoy the talent. I'm looking at Balcony A26 so not sure how much I'll be able to sit back...............

I have ticket to King George also. Death of a Salesman at Manchester Royal Exchange sounds wonderful and is during the time I'll be in UK but I don't see how in the world I could see it with the schedule I have already

www.foxfinder.co.ukDon't like this updated artwork at all. Was better before. Black and white headshots in particular look naff in a West End poster. Not sure why Kenwright jumped ship from Target Live. Did they photoshop his head on? It just looks weird

Almost broke the bank but I've time to recoup. Opening night Boston in the pit. Boston is only a little over an hour from me so easy drive. I think I'm pretty safe that Andrew will play on opening night in a city. Better get it on my calendar as I don't usually remember things 8 months later.................
I've told my children that when I die if there is no inheritance left for them to blame this group. But to remember I had a hell of a good time......

Angel Station is closest tube? Haven’t been here before and trying to expand from West End. Saw his Hamlet production last year and loved it.

Hard day today. When you read about her early life it's amazing that she clawed her way above it with a voice that rang out to us all. Aretha always had our respect and gave us pure joy with her voice

All licking references aside, these will make great little souvenirs to bring home. My granddaughter is taking drama and these will be incredible for her to put on her class binder. In US they don't put images of living people on our stamps. Which is good considering who our president is and how he would have made sure that that would have been one of his first actions in office, to put his disgusting mug on everything.
Wow. Just noticed the price on these. Maybe just a few for her to scatter on binder

Shows happen when a theatre becomes available. Unlike Broadway, there is no "season." It is quite possible that a new opening may fail and be replaced by something else come December, and I think a few theatres still have gaps. So, you could leave the odd date open in your visit schedule if you wanted to. Oh please don't let there be anymore shows that open up late Oct-mid Nov. My schedule and pocketbook couldn't stand it.

This is getting crazy. I have 21 nights in London (plus 2 in York) and, so far, I have tickets to 18 plays. It would be more but Measure for Measure is sold out and I'm going to wait for day seat for Foxfinder. And, of course, I keep checking M4M to see if there have been any returns on a date I could go.
I could stop reading TheatreBoard and hearing about all the things going on but that's not going to happen. Guess I'm just weak willed.
Dang, I forgot I was going to check out The Wider Earth at NHM.

These are bench seats? Big butt and bench seats means I'd better get aisle so I make sure I don't "overflow" into neighbors seat if seats are on small side.

Trying to make sure I see more than just West End productions this upcoming trip. I've never been here but what should I look for in booking seat? Just from what I've googled it seems like there wouldn't be a really bad view anywhere?

I notice that Chris Evans confirmed John McCrea is leaving in the interview (around 1:51:30). Chris Evans said something like "You are quite busy in the future, I've heard" to John McCrea, who said "Yes" then quickly changed the subject. Anyone know about more? January is mentioned later in the interview. Oh please let it be after 1 Nov !!!
