To be fair to Alice, I wouldn't have known she wasn't feeling 100% (if that's the case), she didn't sound unhealthy at all, she was just obviously more reserved than she usually is. Yeah she took Thursday off and came back friday and said to my friend at SD that she's feeling a bit knackered but she's still going on which is good, I'm sure she's fine now after having yesterday off as normal, plus i see you sat in the circle which also isn't that great for sound so that's probs why you thought she didn't fill the theatre but yeah that's why she was being more reserved than normal

So, interval verdict - Sophie Evans - beautiful voice. Yes, she could definitely make more of some of the comedy but I actually think it will come with time. I'm rather enjoying her, she's young and fresh. Alice Fearn - is it definitely Alice on? Without checking the cast board, I can't find anything online saying otherwise. She's good. She's not blowing me away as I thought she would though - I actually think her voice sounds much more powerful on YouTube recordings than in real life. I was really expecting her to fill the theatre with her belt but she doesn't, not in the same way Rachel Tucker did (only comparing because she's my benchmark Elphaba)... when Rachel belted, you really knew about it. That's not to say I'm not enjoying Alice though, her portrayal is strong and her vocals are still very good. Maybe I'm being unfair and I don't want to compare too much. Will report back after the show. (I'm sitting next to the worlds most ANNOYING woman. She's told me she's seen the show 3 times and when the Ozian official said "animals trapped in cages means they won't speak" she took a dramatic gasp and went "oh no!"...) She is also not feeling 100% but she still went on and did 2 shows, so props to her!

Hey all, now on the train home so will post my thoughts of tonight's performance. Laura Pick is a fantastic Elphaba. Tonight was only her 4th? show I believe but she's already established some great characterisation and has a beautiful voice. Of my 18 Elphabas, she is the only one I've ever seen be better in Act 2 than Act 1, which makes me very hopeful for her as it's difficult to nail the Act 2 performance so she can spend time working on fine tuning and adding nuance rather than still putting together her character. Her voice is very light and operatic almost, she has a definite Natalie Andreou quality and glides over all of the notes with ease. All three of the big songs were brilliant, No Good Deed I would say being her signature number. She isn't a huge belter or indeed a huge riffer but her effortless grasp of the score means that all of the songs sound great. Her diction is second to none, I think her and Natalie McQueen have the best I've seen, not a single word is lost through mumbling or Hatton back-phrasing. She did flub a couple of lines, the most notable of which being in Defying Gravity when she ran on shouting "the guards are coming up, I'll have to barricade the door!" and then when Sophie said "Elphaba, listen to me!" she realised her mistake and pushed Sophie out of the way and said "'NO! They really are coming! I have to barricade the door!" It made me laugh if nobody else. I think there are definitely things Laura could improve but for a 4th performance it was outstanding. Really!? When i saw her i didn't really like her Act 2 portrayal. Much preferred her Act 1

It's definitely a step in the right direction. They have done it right this time with having every actress other than Alice be new to the cast or role. I have yet to see Alice and intend to, but I am more excited to see Laura Pick now considering all the buzz I have heard about her! I'm really excited for you to see Alice

Well maybe, but any fan of wicked or any show who managed to see a show with the same cast more than twice is amazing to me. I absolutely could not go to a show more than twice unless it was to see different people in the roles. One you see a show and know the show then surely it does become about seeing new takes on the roles? Absolutely, but I know people who never saw Alice Fearn while she was standby but have refused to see her since she took over as lead purely because she wasn't new to the show. It's a lose-lose situation. Their loss, they're just missing out on seeing the best Elphaba we'll ever get anyway aha

After London cast change I thought it could be Suzie Mathers as Michael McCabe said in her farewell speech that it wasn't the last we'd seen of her. But then there was a strong rumour it could be Helen Woolf who was in the ensemble and 1st u/s Glinda in London who has just left. Helen pretty much covered the Standby role so it would be a great move for her to get the tour lead. But with a brand new Fieyro and rumoured brand new Elphaba it could be someone brand new too for Glinda! Think he meant Suzie for Wicked Movie I honestly think Willemijn and Suzie will be Elphaba and Glinda in the movie! Stephen loves them!

Oooo in fairness, Sophie has pretty much done two months straight since rehearsals and then into the show since cast change without calling out! I think Sophie is scheduled to be off tonight as it's a nine show week! Alice is off tomorrow so presuming she's had her put in, Laura Pick could be on tomorrow matinee! Urmmmm no, Sophie is sick, and Alice's scheduled show off isn't till Thursday Matinee...

You'd have thought they would announce Elphaba and Glinda at the same time - they will have been cast by now so why just do Fieyro?! I know they're on the back foot today but silly to just do one! Amy Ross as Elphaba Helen Woolf as Glinda Jessamy Stoddard as Standby Elphaba I was actually told the other month that Jessamy is gonna be the standby on the tour, so we'll have to wait and see

Long-time lurker, first-time poster here with a burning question: why were the keys lowered in this production? When I saw the first preview I was disappointed to discover that Eva's parts in 'A New Argentina' ('He supports you/For he loves you...') have been transposed down to (most likely) Madonna's key. Madalena Alberto sang the score as written a few years back at the Dominion. And I know that when she used to do it on tour, the last chorus of the song would always be sung in the original key. Why change it? Is it even legal to alter the score in a professional West End production? I wonder if Lord Andrew is aware of the changes being made. They haven't changed it... They've just lowered it for Emma

Natalie McQueen was back standing by tonight by the sound of her Twitter! Guess the new cast are still waiting for their put-ins! Yep, Sarah's had a back injury so Rosa will be Nessa for the entirety of August and Natalie, Helen & Lauren James Ray will each take turns standing by until Aimee Fisher is rehearsed.

I'm looking forward to seeing Alice when she is lead but that riff on the final battle cry is horrible. Someones ears aren't working, her last note was amazing, maybe it was the echo that made it sound weird for you, try this video, there's no echo here...
