14 Oscar Noms! Amazing! Loved this film a lot, have had all the music stuck in my head since I saw it a week ago.

As a lighting geek, it sounds like I'm in for a treat sitting in the dress circle. Yay!

Thanks everyone, that's really helpful. I didn't get a queue at all, so wasn't sure what was going on. No queue for me either, a couple of dates started off with the 'pick your own seats' then decided it wasn't about that life so decided for me but I didn't get kicked out of the date or anything. There were a number of dates where it gave me alternative dates with availability which I thought was quite clever.

I know there's a great big list of local eateries on the Cursed Child website, but I'm trying to plan my day and was wondering if anyone would be able to suggest anywhere in particular that is affordable, convenient, has tasty food, and isn't inconvenient or intimidating to a solo diner. How about The Diner on Shaftesbury Ave (not to be confused with Ed's diner) goodlifediner.com/locations/covent-garden/Or Cabana in St Giles Piazza: cabana-brasil.com/restaurants/covent-garden/I've eaten in both alone and have felt comfortable.

Also, I had to pay with a credit card that didn't expire before March 2018! Glad I caught that before booking- ludicrous! No you didn't. You would have been able to change details, as indicated on the Hamilton website.

Provisional plan now up at: theatremonkey.com/VICTORIAPALACEstalls.htmLooks like the upper circle has the same layout - were bars at the front, now they seem to rv only the centre aisle for 4 rows. Just watch for legroom. Width in stalls and dress is almost the same, bit narrower in the front stalls than I expected. Rear stalls is wider and shallower than before. Dress circle is about the same apart from infill of the front rows. Those boxes at the back of the stalls are brand new, similar in layout to the Prince Edward now. Not surprised at the lack of centre aisle.

I wonder if the producers will care that it's being reported that it was really easy to get tickets? Doesn't make it sound like the hottest ticket in town, does it? They're retweeting comments that say that so they don't seem to care. That solves that then haha! I must say, I do regularly book tickets for lots of different events (football, theatre, music etc) the day they go on sale/priority sale and this has indeed been far and beyond the most painless. Barely any virtual queues and only flicking through a few different dates until I was happy with with what was being offered seat wise. I do wonder if Cursed Child had used the TM infrastructure instead of Nimax/ATG's that it could have been more seamless? People have pointed out that it was booking for two shows instead of one but it wasn't really, you were given the same seats for each, it wasn't a case of going into each part and choosing.

Pretty sure though I got offered tickets in the grand circle at the £89 bracket at one point which seems a bit outrageous. That circle was steep!

Success! Side of the dress circle late Jan! Always found the views in the dress at the VP decent so hopefully that was a good choice.

So there *are* £20 tickets - though the only ones I can find are 4 slip seats either side in the Grand Circle, marked as Side View and Limited View. Wondering how bad it will actually be as £20 for Hamilton is a bit of a bargain!! It's not fantastic. A lot is cut off.

Who doesn't love a bandwagon, even if I'm slightly late to it. No idea how many time I've seen each one but here you go.. in no particular order: Elphaba: 1) Idina Menzel 2) Kerry Ellis 3) Shona White 4) Cassidy Janson 5) Alexia Khadime 6) Nikki Davis Jones 7) Rachel Tucker 8) Ashleigh Gray 9) Julia Murney 10) Shoshana Bean
Worst was Julia Murney. Best, can't decide between Rachel, Alexia or Shoshana. Three very different Elphabi that made a huge impression.
Glinda: 01) Helen Dallimore 02) Annalene Beechey 03) Sarah Earnshaw 04) Diane Pilkington 05) Louise Dearman 06) Gina Beck 07) Savannah Stevenson 08) Suzie Mathers 09) Megan Hilty 10) Caroline Keiff 11) Kendra Kassebaum
Megan Hilty was the best. Worst was Helen Dallimore, who's performance I tried to forget straight after.

This paperless and get your real ticket at the theatre-thing is awful how long in advance do i have to be at the theatre then at the day of the show i am seeing? when i looked at the queue of people who waited to get into the theater to see Harry Potter it looked waaaaaay too long, how many time does that take to get in and start the show in time if they have to control everybody? Harry Potter's queues never took that long to get inside, granted that was just security checks not picking up your tickets. I do think we need to be a bit sensible here and recognise that they've actually thought about how that might work every night and will have the appropriate 'infrastructure' to deal with 1000+ people in the same situation every night. They've got a while! I must say, I haven't read too much about the work going on at the theatre but it sounds like they're being sensible by not releasing any types of tickets that could be effected by the ongoing refurb. I also think the not being able to select your own seats and just being offered a price band/seating area is the pay off for not having to queue for hours online, it's a much more simplified way of handling a large influx of people wanting to book tickets at the same time.

£200 for a premium ticket?!? They obviously think the demand will be good, I would NEVER pay £200 for a show! I don't think this will have the demand America does where it is sold out completely. I think it'll sell out for the first few months but then the hype will die down. I think you're being naive. The producers are aware of the demand more than we are and the website even states 'We expect demand for HAMILTON tickets to be exceptionally high.' Remember that Americans can fly over and see it for £600 cheaper. Yep. It was the same for The Book of Mormon when it arrived here too.

I haven't watched this yet but listened to the Cast Recording on the way to work this morning. I wonder if Kristin has it written into her contracts that she has to belt her high note at least once otherwise won't do the job?
Jennifer's vocals are just insane on I know where I've been.
I'm looking forward to watching it at some point and forming my own opinions of this TV production. Didn't think Ariana sounded TOO bad on the recording but not as strong as others.

Amazing achievement. I've turned so many friends and family to the website too. Such an invaluable source, even moreso now with the high prices one can get charged for awful seats!
I can also claim to own a signed Theatremonkey book!
Well done Steve!

Ah Nelly, you've made me brave the spidery cupboard in search of the programme! Yes, indeed it was Cynthia Erivo. Glad to hear she has become a star - not seen her again personally but will look out for her! She's now a Tony award winner!

At the risk of this coming back to bite me, I will stick my head above the parapet and own up to the fact that *whispers* I actually went to see I Can't Sing and *dons tin hat* quite enjoyed it! I went for Nigel Harman, who was terrific, and there was a girl playing the part of The Unknown Auditionee who was definitely a star in the making. I can't remember much else - it was just a night of frivolous fluff - but well done frivolous fluff and we were surprised when it closed so soon. Oh yes, one other thing I do remember is that the audience would have made their way into the Bad Behaviour thread - wasn't the usual theatre crowd, though that was to be expected I suppose. I'd definitely go and see something else by Harry Hill. (Maybe this post should go into the Unpopular Opinions thread!) I really enjoyed it and it had a really great cast too. If it's Cynthia Erivo you're talking about, yes she has actually become a star!! Google her haha!

Really don't see the fuss about Christmas ads. They are just trying to sell something to us , to make money out of us. So boring. Well yes...that IS the point of adverts in general. But the production/stories are being discussed on here....just like we discuss theatre or whatever else we find interesting.

The Emmett for this tour was cast ages ago (somewhere back in this thread), and I thought then that it was early. Never heard of Rita Simons before. Hope she's good. As I said earlier, you can' sleepwalk through Paulette as she's got such a strong character, lots of jokes etc. etc. Yeah Paulette doesn't need to have an amazing singing voice but as long as she can do the jokes and humour well then you should be alright She totally does need to! I've always thought Mazz Murray would make an AMAZING Paulette. She wouldn't tour though. I was disappointed by all the main Paulette's in the West End version. Jodie Jacobs was far and beyond the best there's been (in the UK). Ireland (even with the rewrites) is such a lovely song if you have the vocal chops to do it justice and nail the end note.

There's a big difference between something being 'fixed' and producers manipulating the way the audience vote/who goes.
The telephone vote is totally legit of course. So it's all how the producers react to that.
I've been to quite a few recordings of the shows as I've known people involved on the tech side. There are producers whispering in Simon's ear every time the camera isn't on him. I actually think it's quite impressive how they're able to control things.
Anyone auditioning/talent spotted to appear on the show knows exactly what they're letting themselves into so I don't feel too sorry for them.

I've had a look around it quite extensively. It's annoying me that it's been described as hidden/lost. They've always known it's there. It was very, very spooky looking round but also fascinating. Westlife filmed one of their music videos there when they were still a thing. It also featured quite extensively in 'Our Gay Wedding: The Musical' which can be watched here: www.channel4.com/programmes/our-gay-wedding-the-musical/on-demand

I really want to see this show but what were they thinking when they cast Frances Ruffelle?? Queenie is supposed to be in her twenties and Ruffelle is in her fifties. The role of Queenie was originally written for Vanessa Williams so it would have been nice to have given a black actress the role . . . Ah man I'd just love her to come and do something here. Such a talent.
