And, inevitably, both names in the frame are now getting threats. The allegedly real people also look very like the actors cast to play them. This does feel irresponsible. If they are indeed the two people who have been allegedly identified, then they've really not done much on the Netflix Drama to make them unidentifiable at all really, have they? Agree, it seems incredibly irresponsible.

I saw this on Tuesday. What a performance from Sarah Snook (and the very hard working stage management and camera crew). A genuine tour de force. I'd love to see Sarah do more on the stage now.
The production itself was very clever, I wouldn't say it dragged at all but I was starting to get a bit restless by the end. Instant standing ovation and fully deserved.
I was Row C of the upper circle and thought it was a good place to watch it all unfold from, I didn't feel like my experience would have been vastly improved on either of the lower levels.

Sadly all that seemed to be was them teasing their new artwork. Not sure why that is something that needed to be teased.
Would love a cast rec for this.

I saw the show twice at the National and loved it but the one part I did have a problem with the first time I saw it was the resolution of {Spoiler - click to view}Poppy and Nikki's relationship.
However, the second time I'd seen it Maimuna had softened her portrayal slightly and it made it seem a bit more understandable that {Spoiler - click to view} Nikki would take her back.
So I am looking forward to two new portrayals of these characters to compare.

I sat behind a parent who, for the entire show, persisted in stroking her child's hair as if she was a pet dog. I don't know how the little girl put up with it! It might have been a calming technique for the child?
When I saw Frozen recently, I too had worries about how distracting an audience that had a lot of children in it. Pleased to report that on the occasion I went, I was very impressed, there was even a school group in one of the circles and I only realised this after the show as everyone was leaving.
I am sorry to hear some have had bad audience experiences with this show but I've had way worse with adult majority audiences (most recently two people scrolling through their phones the whole way through both acts of Hamilton).

Evelyn Hoskins, who was in the original London cast of Spring Awakening has just teased this!
Continuing the trend of concerts, I wonder if this is a original cast reunion concert?

Fiddler is definitely happening, has already been cast! Wonderful news, if true. What a great setting for a production of it.

Like others have said charity shops and antique shops (where they do house clearances) are great sources, I've picked up many musical vinyls that way. Independent record shops sometimes are a good bet as well, I've found some gems in them. One of my favourite finds was an original Mary Poppins film cast vinyl at Amoeba Music in Hollywood! A good source to look at what is out there, to make your own wish lists and to catalogue your collection is www.discogs.com/ - I also use it to price check vinyls when I find them in shops, to make sure I'm not overpaying as they have an active market place on there too.

Also, Shaq Taylor is better as Hamilton than LMM. Sorry! I think most performers who have played that role are better than LMM. Lin is a lot of things but a great performer he is not. And I say that as someone who loves his work. Ditto on that. In fact, I thought the same about the people I've seen play Usnavi in In The Heights too but thought his performance in Hamilton stuck out more as a struggle.

I saw this tonight and thought it was pretty average, sadly.
Some nice effects and the cast are strong vocally but the songs are so bland and never really go anywhere. Even the opening of act two which visually was fantastic, the song was just a bit meh. Whilst I get the point of the story is he is never around long, some scenes are so fleeting it actually just feels pointless.
In the days where pretty much every show seems to get a standing ovation, the audience reaction was pretty muted, barely any standers.
I expect this to be panned in the press but what do I know?

There’s no doubt she might be great. But I know very well that if this was a soap actor with no MT experience or evidence of being able to sing who got put into a high profile musical as the lead, people would be sneering about stunt casting. But when it’s a musician/singer who’s considered to be “cool” with no acting experience it’s “exciting“ casting. I’m just pointing out the double standard. I'm going out on a limb to say that there hasn't been kick back on this casting because those familiar with Rebecca Lucy Taylor's persona whilst performing as Self Esteem would pretty confident she can nail Sally Bowles. This is genuinely a good, exciting bit of casting that absolutely fits this version of Cabaret.

I saw this tonight and thought I’d pop on here to give my thoughts. What I didn’t expect was to come on here and it resemble my Twitter feed (people mostly arguing about football)!
Anyway, I loved it. Such a great night out at the theatre and the portrayal of such familiar people to me, out of this world. They’d be stupid not to give this another run especially with the Euros next year.
So glad I caught this!

I was also very close to leaving at the interval of War of the Worlds at the Dominion, the majority of the cast especially Jimmy Nail were not good.

They've added a song!!! Act 1 now ends with The Show Must Go On, lead by Killer Queen (Brenda) who comes on stage after Lee Mead (Khashoggi) calls her to tell her they've captured the Bohemians. This was a lovely surprise as it's one of my favourite queen songs and did really work. They now do the very full version of Don't Stop Me Now, again Killer Queen leads this but does feature Galileo and Scaramouche running at the top of the video screens also taking parts of the song whilst they make their own journey, I thought putting them in this song didn't add anything nor did them doing the full version rather than what used to happen, Killer Queen starts singing the song and just as she gets into it Khashoggi stops her to tell her that he's lost the rebels. These where in the recent tour before it closed, it wasn't in the earlier run of the tour, but had been added by the time it got to Cardiff. Ah thank you for clarifying!

I was also there last night and absolutely loved it, that show does belong on a big stage and it felt like pure nostalgia. I had seen the original London version a silly amount of times and the most recent tour once so my comments are based on this. Seeing as I will be commenting on differences I noticed between the original, the recent tour and then this, please assume there are many spoilers. For those expecting a brand new production (as advertised), it isn't that. The audience were really great and actually really well behaved. I had a great night out and left on a high. The not so good: The set IS mainly the same video screen set up they had on the most recent tour, very minimal sets until towards the end of Act 1 where you get to the heartbreak hotel which is the scene that had the most going on set wise, some of the screens were turned around to reveal actual set during this. I guess if I hadn't seen the recent tour, I probably would have been a bit dissapointed about that but I wasn't surprised really. The video content on the screens was from what I can remember, 85%(rough calculation ) of what they used during the original Dominion run on the screens there, which at the time looked great but even towards the end of that run looked a bit tired, I wondered if they just didn't have the content ready to fully put in and quickly went back to this, but when the screens are the main part of the show for a lot of it, I was quite surprised that more effort hadn't gone into that. Again, it looked best towards the end of Act 1 when it was integrated with actual set. Towards the end of Act 2, when they are travelling to Wembley stadium, a motor bike (similar or the same one as they had in London) comes up from under the stage via an automated trap door. It felt like a missed opportunity not to use this more in the show, especially for Killer Queen's entrance like they used to at the Dominion. The very good: The cast and the band! Maybe an obvious one but they are what make this show and they were fantastic tonight and seemed bowled over by the audience reaction. Ben Elton was good, I was fearing the worst with him and he was way better than expected and really threw his all into it. He even carried his song nicely although it had been very lowered for his voice. Brenda and Lee were decent. Ian and Elena have really great voices and great comedic timing, they were a highlight along with Christine Allado, she's got a lovely voice. Nice to see Adrian Hansel on stage again, his voice is great too but in this role, rarely gets to show it off. Significant changes: The character that Ben Elton plays is a mixture between Pop and the rebel leader, so he appears at the beginning and then also at the heartbreak hotel at the end of Act 1 and then again at the end of act 2. It worked. The legend of rock is now a tongue in cheek joke about the legend of we will rock you, during the first scene, Ben Elton's character delivers a very knowing few jokes about the original run of WWRY, they did hammer this home a bit too much throughout I felt and there was some clunky dialogue to do with this and Queen towards the end of the show which I will be surprised if that stays. When they drain lake Geneva, an actual huge statue of Freddie now appears rather than on screen, it seems this was the Freddie statue that has been posted on socials as there wasn't one I could see at the front of the theatre. There was a close to being tasteless joke about John Deacon in Act 2, which I was surprised had got past Brian and Roger! Overall, the majority of the script is the same, some new jokes and plot points as mentioned above and some references bought up to date but it really did just feel so warmly familiar even with the lack of set that I couldn't help but beam during the finale. I think that's it, if you got this far, well done!

I agree, I doubt she would be aware. Also I guess even if they are papered or heavily discounted, people still actually have to take those tickets too, they're not being forced so it could still be counted as being sold out or thereabouts?

I went last Tuesday to the Adelphi. First half where she played the new album was great. I really like the album, some strong original material which os rare for MT stars, and her voice is in amazing shape. Second half was disappointing. It opened with London Show Choir doing 5 (!) songs without Kerry (should have been 2 max) and then some overdone covers (Queen) mixed with better moments (Shallow duet with a talented guest who's name I forget). She was quite funny during her audience interaction moments and vulnerable also, mentioning she briefly questioned if her career was finished recently. Stalls and Circle were reasonably full and Upper Circle was closed. Definitely an older audience than I expected. 12 years ago the audience would have been full of teenage girls but I saw none. Also caught this and echo what you have said. She was sounding fantastic and the songs from her album were very good. The start of the second half was quite frankly bizarre and seemed to come out of nowhere and agree, went on for far too long. I was also disappointed that the great band didn't come back until the last song for the second half.

Went to Hamilton last night, there were two ladies that were seated one seat to the left of me who spent the whole show on their phones showing each other things and chatting. It took me right out of the performance multiple times as their screens kept catching my eye and the constant chatter was annoying. At one point I did reach over the lady seated next to me (who wasn't with me) to tap them and asked them politely to get off the phone. They looked at me then ignored me. I spoke to the lady sitting next to me at the interval who was seated directly next to me and she said she was finding it annoying but didn't want to cause a fuss so I left it.
We were right in the middle of the row so even if ushers noticed, there was no way they could have done anything during the show.
I just don't get behaviour like this.

The most loyal customers in these situations are pretty much always the ones that lose out. For example, I have a season ticket for the football team I support, which means I am guaranteed a ticket in the same seat for every home match they play. However, the general admission tickets are categorised depending on the 'level' of team they are playing and generally the season ticket is priced based on the highest category, meaning that I'm technically paying over the odds for certain matches. All they (theatres, football clubs etc) care about is bums on seats and the earlier they can get that money in and guaranteed, the better!

Yes a job in theatre (whether on stage or backstage, foh etc) isn't one you go into with the hope of having bank holidays to yourself. Can't speak for performers but any FOH or backstage crew would be on an increased wage for any BH days worked, so there is also some incentive.

But as several people have pointed out to you numerous times, the cast are not billed above the title. Therefore you are not buying a ticket to see the cast you are buying a ticket to see the show. I’m not saying that people can’t be disappointed they didn’t get to see someone, I’m saying the same people moaning that Lucie only did a certain percentage of shows doesn’t mean that the show was wrong for not clarifying what was going on there. Someone else mentioned in other jobs that person would get fired or moved positions if they were on half the time. It genuinely depends.. like I keep saying over and over: we don’t know what issues Lucie was facing during Wicked. She could have a chronic health condition or suffering with mental health issues and therefore was only able to do a certain amount of shows a week. The producers not only do not need to clarify this, it would actually be against the law to share an employees medical issues without the permission of the employee. And also it would be discriminatory if it was such medical issues to not employ or to replace said employee. My kinder surprise comment was a joke btw but I’m glad everyone took it so seriously lol. You're not "pointing anything out" to us, we're all aware of the "you paid for Wicked, you saw Wicked" argument. We're just saying that one of the leading reasons that people book certain shows is to see their favourite performers, so they're allowed to be disappointed when they're not on, that's all. Being disappointed is one thing, I totally get that and we’ve all been there I’m sure. Ironically I was left disappointed (until the show started) when I first saw Waitress to catch Katharine McPhee and it was Lucie Jones on in her place that they’d drafted in before she officially started. But some people acting like there’s this big conspiracy / stitch up going on is a bit baffling? Not suggesting you have done that but others have implied it. I really don’t think there’s that much in it and ultimately like I and other have said, surely the majority of people going to see the show won’t care or probably even notice. I’m certain the company manager isn’t having a laugh every week going hahahah this is hilarious who shall we call this week to come back this week.

My apologies for a few blanks posts - iPhone technology and old folks are not a match made in heaven. But for the sake of the very damaged feelings of others who cannot bear that another person’s opinion of this show differs from their own, I shall restrain myself from sharing my own truth or opinions about this so-called musical from now on and leave them to their shallow, boring luv fest. On to more interesting shows to discuss… And this year's Olivier for most dramatic storming off in a huff goes to.... Very often, I have a giggle at how well your posts and avatar go together.
