I'll haul the list out too then.
Elphabas: 1 Cassidy Janson 2 Idina Menzel 3 Louise Dearman 4 Willemijn Verkaik 5 Hayley Gallivan 6 Ashleigh Gray 7 Christine Dwyer 8 Nicole Parker 9 Rachel Tucker 10 Jackie Hughes 11 Alexia Khadime 12 Nikki DJ (as standby) 13 Jenny Dinoia 14 Kerry Ellis 15 Nikki DJ (as lead) 16 Shona White 17 Emma Hatton 18 Jemma Alexander 19 Michelle Pentecost
Glindas: 1 Sarah Earnshaw 2 Suzie Mathers 3 Louise Dearman 4 Emily Tierney 5 Kara Lindsay 6 Alli Mauzey 7 Gina Beck 8 Savannah stevenson 9 Helen Dallimore 10 Dianne Pilkington
I genuinely can't remember these girls enough to rank them: Laura Emmitt - Elphaba (don't even remember seeing her but I keep a note on my phone of the dates I went and the cast I saw, which clearly states her name. Memorable!!!)
Glindas: Charlotte can't remember her surname Jenni (Broadway Glinda, can't remember her surname)
Loving seeing how Matt Willis is ranking in the Fiyeros - personally I couldn't even tolerate him. He didn't look, move or sound like Fiyero for me. Lee Mead was another strange casting at the time wasn't he! We've had some rather interesting Fiyero casting. Nobody beats Ollie T for me!

Now... I know the scene is meant to be angry but I can't believe she's getting away with *that* angry! Why so many growls?! It's very offputting and just isn't for me I'm afraid.... Nor me I must say... super surprised at how James is letting the ladies have a bit more license to play around now. Willemijns riffs are increasingly fruity and Alice's growls are in abundance - back in the day James wouldn't have taken even a trill in the wrong place but now he seems to be letting them go for it..!

I hate speculation as much as the next person, but I would be very surprised if the new Elphaba is Caucasian. I think the producers know it's time for a big change.

I've been to a few Wednesday matinees where the audience is a bit miserable and only the minority get up. But always at least one person gets up. To be honest I can't remember the last west end show I went to without one. Bloody Dreamgirls got about fifty 😂

I agree - if only one actress had an alternate, that could look like 'she's not up to the job' BUT if they make it a standard thing for every Elphaba to only do 6 a week, it doesn't reflect on the individual's ability, but the concienciousnwss of the casting team. My guess is that the tour was a trial for the new alternate role, and throwing this out there - we might see the back of standby Glinda in London considering how well the understudy Glindas got on when Carina disappeared for a while.

Thank Goodness is my favourite moment in the show when done properly. A good Glinda can steal the show for me. Lots of Glindas just throw it away... it also has a lot to do with the way the Fiyero plays it too.
I'm personally usually inclined to drift away mentally during INTG (again, lots of Elphabi can't get the right timbre of emotion for this) and Sentimental Man.

I actually have a list of every time I've seen the show (55) and the ladies who were playing the leads. Love a lead. My first show was 23 Sep 2006 (matinee ) with Idina and Helen. Almost 11 years ago.....jheeeez... I saw Rachel 11 times and she was the Elphaba I've seen the most out of 22 Elphabi.

Just re-watched the Marybeth Abel episodes, I love her, and them, so much. The stage management side of the show is in many ways more fascinating than Fly Girl / Think Pink / Fiyero Time / Call Me Madam because there's so much information in there, and so many fascinating facts. I got a backstage tour at Wicked as a part of one of the other experiences as a part of the 2016 Wicked Day auction and I couldn't stop myself from asking the company manager all of my burning questions about onstage temperatures and running times and things like that He said that they fully report to the Gershwin and if anything goes wrong (like a no-fly), they have to call up and grovel and explain themselves. It's quite interesting to see how much of a tight ship the world's Wicked productions are. I find this so interesting - on one hand, it's live theatre and they likely couldn't do anything to stop things going wrong. On the other hand, it's Wicked's HQ so it must be like telling your boss' boss that you don't know very well something has gone wrong. Love all that.

^^do it! It's very well written - she has a degree in English Lit if I remember correctly so it's a nice read. Couldn't put it down.

Jessica Vosk is auditioning for Lead Elphaba here in London for July 2018 I sincerely doubt this but holy moly I'd foot the bill myself. Considering flying out to the US to see that girl play Elphaba. EDIT: she wouldn't have to audition. The casting for productions around the world is done in the US. My good friend was in the London production in the previous cast and her final auditions were taped and sent to the US.

I can see this backfiring badly. I actually love Joseph, it was the first show as a kid that got me obsessed with theatre, so will always hold a big place in my heart... BUT it doesn't have the same kind of cult following that JCS does. I also don't think the score is as 'big' as JCS score and will drown in a big venue. I saw the JCS arena tour and thought it was all kinds of wrong, and somehow think this will be an even more disappointing fail. Why not just do a big gala at the Palladium and get Donny Osmond, Philip Schofield, HfromSteps (that's his full name right?) etc with Linzi Harley, Maria Friedman and Vivienne Carlyle and other alumni back, and get ALW to play Jacob or something? This show is great when quality is put over quantity, and arena tours are hard to achieve that.

If she gets the gig, I wouldn't be surprised to see her do a short run either in London or NY. My initial thoughts were 'god no' but then I remember seeing her in Cats and being pleasantly surprised. I was still hoping for Les Michele or Sam Barks - both big enough names whilst being able to handle the role.

I've never seen Wicked, but love Alice so it was only a matter of time till I book. Took advantage of the TodayTix Egg Hunt and booked one of the £19.50 circle tickets (just in case it's not my cup of tea) and didn't have to pay a penny. Gah in those seats it will definitely not be your cup of tea.. So if we care to find you, look to the middle stalls? Take THAT message back from me.

Out of interest, because lots of promo vids leave out DG - do they not show it just in case she doesn't fly at that show, or just because it's the pivotal moment and they don't want to give it away??

I missed that one - what did you lot say now?!?! Willemijn's holiday dates have slightly changed so Alice now has updated Elphaba dates April 17th - 22nd May 22nd - 24th June 29th - July 1st Oooh this is interesting - in this case, I'll be making a trip in May I think. Adding my two cents into the seating debate - I've seen the show 55 times and my least favourite times seeing the show have all been from the circle. My favourite seats are between row S and row Z in the middle block. Beautiful view and crystal clear sound.

Absolutely deserved - she was phenomenal in Show Boat (loved it all to be honest) and has been consistently phenomenal in everything I've seen her in. Hopefully this won't be her only award - first of many to come methinks.

The rest of the cast have to gel properly - so would have needed to be cast together. Casting isn't just who's best for the role, it's also (if not more) to do with how the person gels with their love interest etc. They had no need to cast King George with the rest of the cast for this reason.

I'd be surprised if we DIDNT have a whole cast change to be honest. From what I've heard, Susie and Oliver are definitely off - Sarah M hasn't been Nessa for long so I'd be surprised to see her go. Also I hope we don't see the back of Alice - she's just finding her feet!

Also on an unrelated note, big thumbs up to "Elphabi" First time a degree in English language has ever come in useful.

Educated prediction: Susie and Oliver are leaving, and the next Elphaba is someone that has already performed the role. I would genuinely bet money on Jackie.

Just listened to that incredibly overly riffy version of DG from 25/3. I'm sorry. Is it a joke? Is it actually from a concert she did out of character, post-show? I'm angered by the amount of embellishment. I LOVE a good riff. But less is most certainly more. Less is more. I don't know what else to say. I was actually in favour of the new riff she did in 'stand there with the wizard' because it followed the excitement of the phrasing. And I like most of the embellishments she does - I just cannot understand why she did them all at once. It's almost like one of those heinous 'My Perfect DG Riff Mix' that you see pop up on YT with a load of poorly edited riffs by various Elphabi from 2004-2007. It's a no from me, Willy. Less is more, please.

I'm OBSESSED with this show right now! The cast album is the only thing I've listened to for weeks, goosebumps every time! However, something tells me it's not quite right for a UK transfer, which is sad if accurate. Hmmmm I've also been considering this - but I think conversations about mental health are very important, and things are (slowly) moving in the right direction with regards to people talking about issues like that - so it could be exactly what the UK needs. That being said, we all know what tends to transfer and what doesn't so I'm doubtful it will come.

I thought it would be worth mentioning Ruth is still in the physical programme (I went last week)... I didn't buy one but the woman next to me did, and I saw Ruth's name and picture in there - maybe she is still chained up in the basement.... the saga continues!!!

I know they want to bring Dreamgirls to Broadway with Amber but Americans would demand their money back if she is out...Even if she isn't over the title, the producers will have issues on their hands for not offering a refund. She should really take 2 shows off/week as she does miss an awful lot. She is amazing in the role but poor thing. Marisha though is sensational. IMO Marisha should get perm lead on Broadway. They don't need a name to sell the show over there.

Surprised she is (technically) third cover - I loved her performance. Maybe a small issue with her diction but a wonderful characterisation. I actually preferred her to Ibinabo.
