I saw this on Wednesday eve having not seen the London company since Alexia Khadime's first run. It's held up great! I recall reading on the forum some people aren't too keen on the current leads but I have to say, I thought they were both great, Alice especially who has one heck of a voice! I don't want to make this sound as though I'm opening a window for bashing or anything but I'm curious to hear why people on here aren't the biggest fans of Alice and Sophie My issue with her Elphaba is that it can be quite two-dimensional, those two dimensions being frustrated and angry. This transforms itself into quite a harsh, shouty singing tone at times. She riffs a LOT - it seems as though she could trust the score and trust her ability to tell a story without displaying anger and frustration so overtly. She has an absolutely Wincredible voice, I personally wish she would use it more and just sing the score as written. Put my feelings into words perfectly

Carina Gillespie is pregnant again, so I don't think she'll come back, at all. Even before I knew she was pregnant again, I did wonder if she was ever coming back. Originally she was meant to be coming back in December, it then got pushed to January, then February, with Maria constantly having a new last day almost on a weekly basis. I imagine Carina might not be welcome back as she had a year's worth of maternity pay (December 2017 to December 2018) from a job it sounds like she never intended to come back to.

I think Maria is more than deserving of being made permanent standby instead simply maternity cover.

So if Carina is pregnant again, will she stay on maternity leave for another year or so? How do laws governing that type of thing work in the UK?

I work for a high street bank and it’s possible to roll over from one maternity leave to the other, but you need to return to work for a minimum period of three months to qualify for the enhanced maternity package again. If someone became pregnant for a 2nd time while on their first maternity leave, they would only be eligible for statutory maternity pay.
I’ve massively over simplified it and no idea how it works in creative industries but that’s ours works!

In my school some teachers have gone on maternity and then permanently left to take care of their children.

I'd imagine she can't return due the fact it's Glinda she would be playing and they don't like Glinda in any sort of stage of pregnancy due to the bubble. (The only reason she said so long during her forst pregnancy was to cover Nessarose, however they're fine for that this year) I'd imagine Maria will stay until July, as Carina's 'maternity cover'. They will both leave at cast change and a new standby will take over? Or Maria could get a year as just standby?

She had 3 children I think in the January of three successive years, she left at Christmas each year, then came back in September and worked through until Christmas before starting maternity again. I'm pretty sure her colleagues hated her. What fertility though

Does anyone actually have any predictions of who is leaving and joining at cast change?
For Elphaba, I think Nikki Bentley will get lead, after more than proving herself as standby and performing over 100 Elphaba shows. As for standby, perhaps Amy Webb? But having seen the positive feedback of Amy Ross, who was totally new to the show when she joined, maybe the producers will start casting new actresses?
For Glinda, I actually think Sophie Isaacs would be a really good choice. Having listened to the Heathers cast recording, there are bits where she reminds me of Kristin Chenoweth.
We definitely know that we will have a new Madame Morrible, but I'm not really sure who to cast. We've had some great Morribles recently with Kim Ismay and Melanie La Barrie, and I'm not sure who could live up to those two in my book.
Fiyero, Wizard, Nessa etc. could be anyone.

Michelle Visage for Morrible? I'd actually pay to see this again just for her 😂
She'll be in the UK for Drag Race and I guess she just needs to be in the studio once per week to film the judging?
Nah, won't happen. But it'd be awesome.

I actually think Shane Richie would be pretty decent as the Wizard, but he seems like the type who would only do a limited run.

I think we’ll get a handful of tour cast transfer in including Amy Ross as lead Elphaba with Amy Webb Standby.
Kim Ismay will come in as Morrible. Helen Woolf will come in as lead Glinda with Charli as Standby. Ensemble to transfer in will include James Titchener but I’m not sure about many others.

I think it'd be a shame if Tom Hargreaves didn't get lead Fiyero at cast change, considering he's done so many performances and gotten a great response from audience's.

Ah prediction (again).
OK. Can't remember who I said last time but...
Elphaba and Glinda- don't know if they have expressed an interest/ been asked/ auditoned/ whatever but I hope that the producers have given Amy Ross and Helen Woolf first dabs should they be interested. They certainly proved their worth on tour and we're an amazing pairing. They deserve their chance.
Fiyero- Philip Bertioli Boq- Matthew Capulto Nessa- Really not bothered. One of the Tour girls could do a good job. Is Katie RJ due a return about now... Dillamond- would be quite happy if they just axed this part Chief ribbon twirler- James Titchener Wizard and Morrible- Get Bonnie Langford and Tom Lister in! They would be amazing!

Oh I've been saying Philip for a while as Fiyero! He needs his time to shine in a lead role, it's time. Or even Boq. He deserves a leading role. 😍😍

Grace Chapman was supposedly one of the best Nessas, so hopefully she’ll get lead, whilst taking Rosa’s Glinda cover.

He deserves a leading role. 😍😍 Having met Philip I don’t think he’s a definite fit for either role, too Boq-y for Fiyero and too Fiyero-y for Boq. He’s a phenomenal dancer so is more likely to be Fiyero on that front, but I’m just not sure it’s his casting 100%.

There have been so many terrible fits as Fiyero over the years, I don't think Philip would be one of them. If he can cover Billy to the level he did at 42nd Street, he'd have no problems with this. I just hope this role goes on merit and not a "name".

When do they announce the changes normally ? Well when Sophie and Alice were announced it was like May wasn't it? So quite late. And they had that big, dramatic trailer to announce them... little did we know. 😂😂

Rob H. Fiyero?
I would give it to Tom or Ben Y. to be fair.

I don’t know who is or isn’t up for what but I do know that they offered London lead to their Elphabas and Glindas of the last UK tour at the cast change after they finished (Nikki Year 1, Ashleigh and Emily Year 2). Of course Emma and Savannah ending up staying on anyway in 2015 so it was a pointless offer but it wouldn’t surprise me if Amy and Helen were given first dibs on the lead roles. Whether they’d take it or not would be another conversation entirely.

Amy prob would, knowing how hard she worked to get from Ensemble/Understudy to leading lady, it would really surprise me if she didn’t take lead.
