Was at Wicked this afternoon- first time in a while.
Was quite an eventful show- it got to 2:30 and we were all still waiting in the foyer to be seated, lots of announcements about 'technical difficulties' and people getting fidgety. I was concerned they were about to cancel it all together! But we did eventually get let in and the show started at 3pm.
Technical difficulties seemed to be to do with the set- some of which didn't appear at all, such as the bed in NOMTW (poor Mother had to give birth on the floor) and the fountain in DTL. Others were pushed on by stagehands (e.g. platform in Thank Goodness) and the Wizard's head stayed at the back of the stage and wasn't interacted with in Wonderful.
The lift under the stage also didn't work- the young Wizard in NOMTW ran off the stage at 'Follow me down...' (bit ironic) and Elphaba ran on stage in No Good Deed with no Grimmerie in sight.
Probably only noticeable by those of us that had seen the show multiple times, the cast did very well to cover it up. And thankfully the DG lift was working in all its glory!
Alice and Sophie were absolute powerhouses and I did wonder if they were doing extra jazzy notes/riffs to make up for the difficulties (or maybe just don't ever hold back even on Wednesday matinee's!)
Three understudies on- Maggie for Nessa, Tom for Fiyero and Scott for Boq. All I thought were fantastic and lead-worthy!
Bit of a quiet audience and lots of side stalls seats empty but to be expected this time of year/week I suppose, and they warmed up by the second act.
All in all a great trip!!

wicked Alice added EVEN more riffs?! Good lord, the show must of been indistinguishable!

Sophie and Alice have been recording, and it will be released Valentine's Day based on what Alive tweeted.
Before the fangirls freak, it won't be a Cast Recording. And if it was, I'd be stunned these two were the ones to be put on a London Cast Recording. I'm certainly intrigued to see what it is!

wicked Alice added EVEN more riffs?! Good lord, the show must of been indistinguishable! I mean, I haven't seen the show (or Alice) in probably about a year, so I wouldn't really know if they were added or existing. But there did seem to be more than your "average Elphaba Wednesday" performance. Having said that, it wasn't overdone. It was basically a perfect rendition of the score with some 'jazzy' moments!

This will be a random collaboration on some music.
Nothing to do with Wicked the Musical.

It’s a charity single. No idea whether it’s just Alice and Sophie that feature or whether there’s more people involved but it’s nothing to do with the show directly.

I'd be genuinely gutted if both of them stay another year. I want to go back to the show at some point this year, but I don't know if I want to see these two again.

I hear what you’re saying but will you be voluntarily quitting your job at an arbitrary point in the next year danieljohnson14?

This will be a random collaboration on some music. Nothing to do with Wicked the Musical. I wish we could get one of these every now and then. Not just from Wicked but cast members from different shows recording stuff together. Sort of like the Hamildrops.

Saw the show Tuesday night, first time watching the London production in two years.
Wasn't impress. Alice and Sophie have lovely voices but they were going through the motions, ensemble lacked energy and missed some cues.
Lots of innapropriate shouting from Alice. 'well if that's LOVE,' in Defying Gravity springs to mind. And too much riffing at the end.

I’ll make one trip before cast change when Carina is back as Glinda but that’ll be it. I just don’t like this pairing enough to justify going, hoping it’s a brand new pairing come July.

I think Alice and Sophie are perfectly fine, they get great reviews.
I've not seen the new cast yet but I do fancy going to see Laura Pick as I haven't managed to catch her yet.
I'm at the "Wicked stage" now where there has to be someone in it that I love for me to go back to see it, there's just too much else I want to see in London. It's not like my old days where a trip to London meant Wicked, Wicked and more Wicked.

Tom Hargreaves plays Fiyero for the hundredth time today. As a cover that's pretty impressive.
Is David Witts ever on?

I'm at that point too. I only go now when there has been a cast change or if Rachel Tucker is in it.

Now.

I'm at that point too. I only go now when there has been a cast change or if Rachel Tucker is in it. I’ll never forget the performance I saw Rachel Tucker give on a Saturday matinee, November 2016. She threw in a perfectly executed riff in “I’m flying high deFYing gravity”... ah back when the show was sung to score and the riffs were in the ‘moment’. We were spoiled with her.

I saw her four times in her return, and funnily enough I thought the one random show I saw of her, she was at her best! I always appreciated Rachel because the riffs and stuff she actually sang fit into the score and never felt in appropriate. We haven't really had that since. It seems rare these days. I still want to see Laura Pick, so I hope she either gets bumped up or I can nab a comp to see the show with this cast. 😂😂

Similar to you though, the matinee really sticks in my mind. Probably the best time I’ve ever had at Wicked. It was also the first solo theatre trio for me so it was even more special - I was desperate to see her so went alone.

*cough* Just want to mention, Willemijn never over riffed either *leaves* Well if I said since Willemijn it would of narrowed it down to just Alice and I didn't want her fangirls to come for me (even if, arguably, it's true). So you said it. 😂😂

Alice Fearn was sat there manically laughing and she declared how different things were going to be now she's in charge. I wonder if it means anything martello736 I think you predicted the future!

Wicked will definitely have a new Madame Morrible at cast change as Melanie La Barrie just announced as joining the (amazing) cast of & Juliet.

Oh, that film will never be released. It's a well known fact in the Wicked community that the film is just a rumour spread by the producers so that they can get us to shut up about bloody riffing.

Wicked will definitely have a new Madame Morrible at cast change as Melanie La Barrie just announced as joining the (amazing) cast of & Juliet. Most people are leaving I'm afraid (not sure about those who joined in 2018, but 2017 for sure). The website Mandy is currently hiring for all roles, including covers and ensemble. Auditions are going on now. It's sad times cos Im very attached to this cast
