So from a Nessa shortage to a Boq shortage! I wonder if it will get to the point where the show will function with or without either of them there.

Aimée Fisher on as Elphaba tonight. Alice apparently has an injury.

Yes injured Saturday and today yet recording vocals for an album yesterday.
Common sense would suggest leave it til later.

Common sense would also suggest that if the injury is a physical one then it doesn't stop her sitting on a stool and singing yet it would possibly prevent her running around on a stage, in which case why not keep working to the extent she can and let her understudy do the show...

She could always take over as Nessarose for a few performances? She'd slay Wicked Witch of the East.

Savannah Stevenson did an interview as a part of The Stage's article on mental health in theatre, in which she quite heavily alluded to the impact that the pressures of being in Wicked had on her. Okay, she never actually used the word "Wicked", but I don't think it's unreasonable to interpret that as what she's talking about.

Savannah’s words are very powerful and clearly she’s referencing her time at Wicked. We’ve talked so much in this board about everyone’s favourite but it is a reminder that they’re human at the end of the day!
I do find it a little preachy/judgmental though that Alice’s fan account have explicated a sonnet on Twitter about good fan etiquette, where I’d say it’s recently been the Alice brigade (and Emma before Alice!) who are worst for criticising people for daring to express an opinion that’s different to “Alice for Queen!”

I’m cringing that ‘Team Alice Fearn’ have posted about this given that they are the ones stalking performers outside the stage door all the time, putting that additional pressure on the performers. No wonder they can’t leave work behind, imagine your job being integral to your feelings as your spread Nutella on your toast...

Very powerful words. Social media is a huge promotional tool but it brings with it its own problems.
It used to be you did a show, you left through stage door and you went home. Now you go home and you are bombarded with tweets. Yes you can choose to ignore them but it's important way to keep up with fellow performers and friends too so it's hard not to be drawn in.

I recognise that 😉 I always thought the plan was leaving Oz, not necessarily the water scene, but that's just how I saw it.

The people who wait at stage door get “the pink witch” to sign their programme then go home and do other things, live their lives even. Fans on the other hand.... Every now and then this picture does the rounds, this time it did make me think a little of Savannah going on Twitter and reading a tweet about how her “thanks awfully dearest” pales in comparison to Gina Beck’s

I actually imagined the fans as the people who get their photo/programmes signed and go home. Then the people who wait for you at the stage door to be the overly obsessed people who think they own Wicked and its cast members.

I'm sure a quick "I've enjoyed your performance very much can I please have an autograph" is not going to offend anyone.
Expecting (and it does seem to become an expectation) a "chat" when you have probably seen the same performer on their way in that very day, and the evening before, and the evening before, perhaps not so.
Surely there are only so many times you can ask the same person for a selfie in a short space of time?

Is there an antelope setting?
Would be handy for all those photos with fifth cover midwife.
Asking for a friend...

Based on twitter, there is alot of fans who appear to have selfies with the same cast members every single time. Its fun to put the pictures together though, you see the smile fade away day by day.

I’m surprised by how slowly this thread is moving lately. Are we just in that long dragging period between Easter and Cast Change? Does anyone know any insider info on casting? I know we may be getting a new Fiyero (someone mentioned Bradley was leaving)

But speaking on the topic of stage door, there was a group of girls (fangirls?) right in front of the door when I visited and they all looked like they wanted to chat/give Nutella and microwaves/tell their entire life story to Alice for ages but she just looked like she wanted to make sure she had time to give autographs and take pics with everyone who was waiting. (There weren’t many of us but it was clear she was wanting to move on to the next people in the queue)
It puzzles me why people stage door repeatedly when they see the same show so often. Does it not occur to people that Alice/Sophie and others may be rushing for the tube or the bus and don’t really have time to talk for ages?

I know we may be getting a new Fiyero (someone mentioned Bradley was leaving) I think it's very simply that Wicked isn't the biggest show in town anymore - some of us have got a bit (or more than a bit) tired of it. A family member said to me they'd be interested in seeing it, but even that doesn't muster up much enthusiasm in me to go back. I would love some exciting casting or next year then I might bother, but I've seen the show itself too many times now to go back just for the sake of it, and the truth is there are other shows in the West End that I would rather see if I decided to do a day seat or returns queue on a whim - Wicked just isn't top of my list anymore.

Right now it just seems like everyone talks about the stage door crazies. I wish I’d gotten into Wicked earlier because I feel like I’ve missed it at its peak. So far I have 1 show under my belt (London) and I have another planned (tour) but after that I have nothing else for a while which is kinda sad.

There was a bit of a dip (in fan craziness at least) in the second half of 2008 while Kerry was on Broadway and Alexia was playing Elphaba in London - though that was actually when I saw the show for the first time and fell in love with it! And then when Alexia came back to do her second run it was also less wild in terms of fan behaviour - the really insane fans were Kerry fans.

I think they do which is why lots go BEFORE the show starts. I don't get that. What can you say? "Many congratulations on the show that you may or not do well in a few hours time?" Also what is the criteria of what is a "peak" year or not? Off Peak being the casts you don't like and peak the ones you do? Genuinely interested. I'm sure Wicked HQ would go entirely on ticket sales which seem to be strong whoever is on that stage. However, it would be impossible to go by profits alone as unfair on previous casts where the ticket prices were not totally scandalacious. Perhaps number of tickets sold but then again did they not add more seats recently? Perhaps we can only go by which cast inspires the creation of the most graffiti on the barriers outside stage door? 😉

One issue with the theatre they should really sort out is the air con. I remember the 10th Anniversary, I nearly passed out at interval because it was so hot. And Rachel set the house on fire but that's neither here nor there. 😂😂

I’ve not been in the Wicked community for long but this is what I think were the peaks The Tuckman era Jenny DiNoia / Kerry’s return Rachel’s return / 10th anniversary When Alice first got promoted to lead Since then, it’s been kinda quiet and since most cast are staying on at cast change I doubt there’ll be any significant buzz for a while. (New Fiyero, Nessa and Dillamond. WDFD.)

From what I've heard Jack is staying for another year as Bow.
No I agree, anything Tucker was a peak. I think that's a general consensus for several people hahaha.
