Is this an educated guess or is there knowledge behind this?
I know a few people from previous jobs in London who are in the 'audition' scene and the chat is that it's her, but its all hear say without any proof. Hopefully they announce it soon!
It looks like the tour for this could be back on, it has booked into some ATG venues for 2025. But I said the same a year ago and it never ended up going ahead so we shall see.
My local ATG theatres used to be open 10am-8pm 6 days a week (or approx. 6pm if no show on) but since September 2021 they've only been open from 6pm-8pm on days there are shows. They remain closed if the theatres are dark. I assume it's due to the increase in online sales since the pandemic but I don't know for sure.
How long does it take to load and unload a show? I only ask because I was looking at the Bord Gais Theatre runs of Wicked and Hamilton and there is only a day and a half between one closing and the other opening.
It can be anything from a few hours to 3 days. The Les Mis tour took 3 days to get in to Glasgow and that was 24 hours a day, although it was in the first venue of the tour and they had much more time to do it. I imagine they probably usually do it in a day.
The staff doing the 'get outs' and 'get ins' get paid a very very high hourly rate, due to the strict timings and the heavy lifting involved and it almost always being over night.
Does anyone on here have any knowledge about the lack of a UK Tour going ahead ? I had heard a UK Tour was happening with a week booked in for January in Glasgow but then nothing ever got announced. Maybe they decided it wouldn't sell well after the movie flopping ?
I saw Annabelle Aquinom (ensemble and 2nd cover Cosette for the new cast) in one of her 3rd year college shows last year and she has an exceptional voice. She's tiny in stature but has a big voice.
Hannah Lowther (Heathers London, SpongeBob Tour) has been hinting on TikTok that she may have been cast in this, although her fanbase is very much the diehard Heathers/Six/Gen Z crowd so I'm sure she knows exactly what she's doing, whether she has actually been cast in this or not.
Last year when they did the cast change she was very open about having auditioned and having not made the cut so it seems more likely this time round.
We got slap bang centre of stalls row H last Sunday, and I’ve had row L before then; both perfect views.
I ended up getting seats in the Royal Circle Row E! They were at the side but still an excellent view.
On another note, Jenna Lee-James was on as Elsa which was her debut and she was spectacular. I couldn't fault her in any way to be honest.
She looked a lot like Samantha with all the Elsa get up on and if I'd been sitting on a higher level, with my crap eyesight, I wouldn't have questioned you if you'd told me it was Samantha on the stage.
Also, it's hard to believe she's 48 years old, she doesn't look a day over 25.
Does anyone know where the seats are for the 'Magical Mondays' ? Or is it random depending on availability ?
Random depending on availabilty as far as I can tell from what I've been offered before.
I've had back corners of the Royal Circle, the extra legroom seats on row M of the stalls where the wheelchair positions are, the stalls slips, and centre stalls row L&M. So it can really vary.
Thanks! I'm not too bothered what seats I get to be honest, as long as I manage to get them. Although, extra legroom on Row M does sound good
I'm going to try for Wednesday at 2pm, have you always managed to get them when you've tried ?
I doubt this will get announced tomorrow but I’ve heard it’s playing at the Theatre Royal in Glasgow over Christmas in 2025
I assume some of these dates announced tomorrow will go into 2025. Cardiff Christmas 2024? But yeah maybe not annouce as far ahead as Christmas 2025. Have Glasgow teased anything?
They haven’t teased anything as of yet, but it’s definitely pencilled in to the theatres’ calendar. My friend works there and told me a month or so ago. Fingers crossed!
I saw Antony Lawrence as Miss Trunchbull in Matilda (he was the 1st cover/understudy) and he was excellent , but I've never seen him in anything else since then.
The process of getting into the Shrek mask and costume takes so long I do not envy it at all.
Does an alternate still do the matinees over at DEH? I don’t really have a nightime slot before it closes. Sam Tuttys cleaning job is a real pain isn’t it? 🤣
Yes, I think Marcus Harman still does the matinees
"As much drama off stage as on it at Back to the Future tonight after an inebriated audience member disturbed act one: picking a fight with the person in front, climbing over rows & virtually sitting on other people’s laps, before the producer got security to throw him out."
I've always wondered if many of these people are actually repeat offenders. I mean, I don't think theatres actually go through the trouble of keeping a ban list or anything like that, do they?
The theatre I work at definitely has a ban list, and I work for a very well-known nationwide theatre company. They log on to the system and 'blacklist' them so they can't make any further bookings, but I suppose there's no way to stop them setting up a new account under a new name.
I’m back in Glasgow this weekend and decided to go and see this at the Kings Theatre tonight, having seen it in the Palladium last year with Alexandra a couple of times.
I’ll preface this by saying my main reason for going is that Linzi is one of my favourite theatre performers ever, so it was mainly for her. I was also in row A of the stalls, so absolutely loved being so close to her performing and found her hilarious.
However, I think I echo the sentiments of a lot of other people on here when I say this production is just a bit…lacking? I knew the track had been lowered before going as I seen it last year, but have they also brought down the tempo on some numbers even more since last summer or am I imagining it? Jacob and sons especially felt awkwardly slow. The staging was also noticeably paired down for the tour, and looks a bit cheap to be completely honest.
Having the kids as main characters is also such a strange move and my opinion on it is the same as last year - cheap labour! It totally takes away from the comedy of the show and replaces it with a cutesy “awww” kind of feeling, which I’m not a fan of. Obviously I don’t want to be too hard on a kid, but the girl chosen to sing the beginning of Benjamin’s Calypso tonight couldn’t hold a note and it was really cringe to listen to. The Potiphar scene is also supposed to be dripping in innuendo, but has been kid proofed so much in this production that it feels redundant.
Also I’m starting to think I attract this, but we had a show stop tonight for about 10 minutes, I’m the middle of the Pharaoh song. I’m actually not sure what happened to be honest, but during the song an audience member started shouting how much they loved Jason repeatedly (A very deep man’s voice, which I found hilarious), to the point where Jason started hysterically laughing and lost his place on the song. He quickly got it together but a few seconds after the song finished and Jack was about to give Joseph’s “prediction”, a stage crew member came out and told them all to leave and the good old technical difficulties notice was played as the curtain came down.
Does anyone who knows more about the production know what happened here? Myself and the rest of the audience were really puzzled.
My thoughts on Jason are also the exact same as last summer, he delivers quite possibly the worst stage performance I’ve ever seen in this show. It’s quite obvious that the majority of the audience are nostalgic fans of his who will cheer for anything he does, and they did (very wildly!), but his actual performance is extremely bad.
Jac was great as always, I’ve said since I first seen this that his talent exceeds this role and I’m sure he’ll go onto much bigger things in the future.
Overall I enjoyed the night as a Linzi fan, but I’ll probably not see the tour again despite planning on doing so in Woking when I’m back in London. As much as I would like to see Linzi again, I’d rather wait to see her in whatever she does next to be honest.
There's been a show stop almost every single day this week, most of the time because of pieces of set/scenery getting caught in the wings.
This line up is amazing, I'd loved to have seen Bianca and Bob in there but they've both been very vocal about not wanting to compete again. Bob says she will compete if the prize money is at least 500k though...
