The character is meant to be 33. Redgrave is 52. Lang is 63. So yes. But not by much more ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Withdrawn due to 'ill health' apparently.

I have asked them to clarify the length of time the purchased content is available for and what happens if I wish purchased content to be available on my content and maybe later take out a subscription/ get access to newly added content. Not sure what the best thing to go for is tbh. I have 10 purchased productions in my account.

The RAH production did have an interval but it didn't work. It was awkwardly placed and just left the second half as the weird string of individual songs/ breakdowns which jarred with the first half and made it apparent that it is a play of 2 halves. I guess when you are in the moment and the production flows as one then there is less apparent jarring.

I got an email offering me 6 months free. However, there was no mention in the email about them no longer supporting existing purchases. Staggeringly bad customer service. No that message about no longer supporting existing purchases only comes up when you log in/ activate/re-activate your new account. It feels like they were trying to sidestep that and hoodwink people into thinking they were getting something free for 6 months when actually they haven't been explicit at all. Sneaky

Ooh very interesting. Admittedly it's mainly Richard Armitage fans up in arms but there is still an overwhelmingly negative response.

Where are you seeing the website comments and Twitter comments? I can't see anything other than promotional stuff on their Twitter feed: twitter.com/digitaltheatre?lang=en

Tried to book for this online and the website would not let me book the seat I wanted that was available - "an error has occurred, please phone the box office". This I did and was told that the seats that were available online should not have been as they were reserved for the promoter and should have been greyed out. So tried to book and failed - really life is too short for this. My first visit to this theatre is not happening. I will see something else! Life's too short for 1000 posts on Theatreboard too. Hahahahahahahahha. Joke

I know it's difficult to say because of the stoppage but how long do you think it might be when it's running properly? And is there an interval?

Dear God this was terrible. Not a single character you care about, could easily lose 20 mins, so many extraneous and unnecessary characters, purports to be something deep and spiritual but the writing is horribly clunky and over written. Amanda Hale good as her characters. The guy playing John and the professor the best thing in it. Wishaw just plays Wishaw. The woman playing Tom's mother embarrassingly bad. Not much set but what was there was used in such a pointless way. Not entirely sure how the Almeida let this one through without spotting the need for serious cuts and rewrites (and some recasting). Lots of empty seats after the interval. It's 2 stars from me and I anticipate a mix of 2 and 3 stars, although there will of course be some 4s as ever. What a shame.

Such a pointless mindless waste of everybody's time, money and energy. There are not new depths to be plumbed in this show. It does not need a stripped back feel. It does not need workshopping further. It unfortunately feels like a cynical vanity exercise from somebody biding their time until they come up with some new ideas. Imho So you bought tickets for all three nights then?! Oh yes of course. I bought 50 for each night. Can't wait ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Little point taking recommendations to be fair. Everybody has different tastes and preferences. If they could narrow it down from the list above then people might be able to offer more focussed views.

Hello I was lucky enough to see this show today as my friend had a spare. Loved the show. Great show. Top cast. Interesting and thought provoking play. This now frees up the ticket I have for the 2.30pm matinee on Saturday 19th August. It's in seat A4 which looks like a perfect view from my vantage point earlier. Centre of the third row. Seats on that row now appear to be sold for £45 but I paid £15 for it and that's all I am looking to get for it. There don't appear to be any more £15 seats available across the run. Message me if interested. Grab yourself a bargain to a great show. Also posted on the Noticeboard Thanks

The Other Palace website is freaking terrible. Why do these venues not do any user testing before putting them live?

In my opinion (and I have many about this production) the script and writing was by far the weakest link. I would have maybe liked it more if it felt like the author (whose previous plays I liked lots) had not written a bog standard and fairly unbelievable family drama, thought it wasn't exciting or different enough and crow-barred science elements into it and tried to make innocuous parallels between the two. I don't think I would have preferred either as a full play but I certainly didn't like the amateurish mess (that felt like it was written by a brattish teenager who had big ideas about the world and our place in it) that was presented on that stage.

Last night was my first trip to the Dorfman (never went when it was the Cottesloe either) and it did not disappoint. This play is excellent. I've never seen any of Kirkwood's work before, but her writing was impeccable. The family drama aspects of the play are grounded and touching - never melodramatic or straying into soap opera territory. For someone who calls himself a scientist, the accompanying commentary on communication and scientific endeavours was eye-opening and made me examine my own attitudes towards such things. The articles in the programme are also very well written - I know a lot of scientists who need to be reminded of the themes they discuss. Now, I don't study particle physics but I take an interest in it and have followed the studies that are being performed at CERN (I remember listening on the radio the day they turned the LHC on), so I was already familiar with almost all of the science that was mentioned in the play. I found that the interludes delivered by 'The Boson' were odd at first, but once I saw the parallels that Kirkwood was trying to make I actually thought they were quite clever. However, I would be interested to know how easy it is to understand for someone who isn't familiar with the science - the explanations seemed to be pitched at the right level, but it's always easy to say that when you've heard it all before. Given that one of the statements that Kirkwood is trying to make is about accessibility and communication of scientific information, I'd like to know if she's managed to achieve an appropriate level of communication in her own writing. I don't think anyone will be surprised to hear me say that Olivia Colman is amazing. She deserves every ounce of praise that is sent her way, because her performance here is remarkable. Both Olivia Williams and Amanda Boxer also give fantastic performances with their characters who are imperfect in a very different way to Colman's, but to take a troubled character like that and make her so real and believable is very impressive. It reminds me of Denise Gough's performance in Angels. Kudos to Rufus Norris for doing a production in the round so effectively - too often I've seen blocking that just looks unnatural, but here Norris has made every scene flow smoothly and naturally so that it can play to every side of the auditorium. I also disagree with those who were calling for the play to be cut down - 2hrs 50mins flew by for me, and I loved every word of it. I'm feeling very lucky right now that I've had the privilege of seeing both this and Angels - I feel like I should raise a glass to whoever started the Entry Pass scheme.
