Sainsbury's should enforce it with some way to identitfy those exempt - too many people are naive enough to think most people will comply - a ride on a London bus will tell you otherwise.
Honestly no one is following every rule.
Far too many people aren't even paying attention to basic distancing, never mind face coverings. I think it's partly a misguided perception that the danger is now passed - it REALLY isn't, although the infection rates have gone down it wouldn't take much for them to begin to rise again - and partly naivety, and partly just plain selfishness: masks are more about protecting other people than about protecting yourself, so people simply can't be bothered.
The weeks of the government and press telling people they were useless doesn't help at all.

It will be interesting to see if they get a vaccine how they prioritize who gets it after the front-line health workers. On Loose Womwn yesterday we had Janet Street Porter representing the over 70's, Kelle Bryan who is immune surpressed and BAME and Coleen Nolan who is a larger woman. So all three/four characteristics could be at threat. I think we agree that healthcare front line/police should be first then those at most risk ( the ones who were told to shelter), other frontline workers like delivery drivers/shop staff are done in roughly that order. But where do you go then, age, gender, race, size, milder underlying conditions. I'm nearly 50 and overweight so am I more at risk than a younger fitter BAME person who may not be able to WFH as much as me for example. The best suggestion I heard from the Loose Women was you start with the oldest and work back after you've done the key/at risk. But if a son or daughter took their parent/parents to be immunized surely it would make sense yo do all at once. Will the government risk annoying many less enlightened people by offering it to BAME people earlier as a blanket policy - it doesn't feel like the government would want to allow the far right something to campaign on.
I suspect it will go
1. Shielding 2. Health workers most at risk
3. Other health conditions.
4. 65+
5. Less at risk workers
6. 50-64 7. Everyone else.
As immune suppressed people usually get the flu jab but being overweight doesn't Kelle will get it first I imagine.

sf Really? My experience of Covid is that it has brought out the best in people far more than the worst. There are more people around my way volunteering to help people than there are needing to be helped; I've met loads and loads of neighbours I've never even seen before through various mutual support groups, collections for food banks, etc. At the start of lockdown and just before, strangers were chatting on the street and in shops and being kind to each other like I've never seen before. I've absolutely hated the whole coronavirus thing and I'm still having sleepless nights about the long-term impact it's going to have on things like theatre and my employment prospects, but aspects of it have been exceptionally moving. Though not the mawkish clapping thing, I hated that. Varies by area and people you come into contact with.

My mum said she was the only customer in the supermarket this morning wearing a mask - it's clear people are not going to comply in two days time and I am not sure many shops will enforce it. I found that yesterday. I didn't enjoy wearing the mask but it's really invalidating when you make the effort to comply and others don't, and even then it's hardly a lot of effort to stick a mask on! I genuinely don't know how they're going to enforce this. So many people will sadly try to exploit the system and say they are exempt. And also what's to stop people wearing the mask into the shop and then taking it off once inside? I know big supermarkets have security staff but I really worry about the smaller shops. Most of the smaller independent shops near me have a council provided sign saying what the customer limit is and nothing else- very few screens or sanitizer and not even many with staff wearing masks.

Looking at the Debate on the BBC today Tory backbenchers seem opposed to scrapping shows for being un PC and also coded attacks on non mainstream projects and casting - it was quite clear what type of programmes they see as not being in popular in their seat.
It feels like they will be similarly critical towards theatre due to the coronavirus bailouts being seen as requiring more mainstream theatr.

Universities are going to be wrecked by Brexit - reduction in RU students coinciding with Cornovirus and likely banning of Chinese Students ~ EU not RU.

That is surely only financially viable in a minority of situations. The capacity looks to be under 50%.
It mostly be used for events where tickets are free or where costs are low enough to make it work.
Fundamentally the demands of ALW, Mackintosh and the rest for a confirmed date without SD cannot be given by the government. No government can offer that promise- in the continent it's all aspiration with things subject to change depending on the virus. No one knows the future. Korea has so many track and trace measures a lot of people in the UK would oppose.

Very impressed with Lloyd Webber on BBC news tonight. That man will not stop until he can get his theatres reopen. Bravo! Through equally what works for his theatres won't financially work everywhere- He seems to not be against willing to risk losing money.

No-Deal is primarily focused on the EU, truth is as this Tweet demonstrates we need to negotiate and agree FTA’s with every trading nation over the next 5 months. At the moment it looks like we not only leave the EU but we leave behind all our trading partners if not agreed by year end and any time spent on WTO terms will negate any benefits in the short term and any business lost is unlikely to be regained as changing suppliers is a long and complex process which many of our trading partners have started to ensure continuity of supply without tariffs and import complexities. If we leave the EU without a Deal it will also be worse than the much touted Australian Deal as Australia have a “mutual recognition agreement” which has been set up to facilitate trade in industrial products by reducing technical barriers which we won’t have. And not just the EU. 3.6% of British goods go to China but that is going to get reduced or even eliminated in the coming months.
It's a two prong problem as the higher education sector is being reduced with the goverment hoping to increase the % 18-21 year olds working in manfacturing while equally manfacturing output might be being reducee.

A huge blow to the cinema industry. Christopher Nolan's Tenet has been delayed indefinately. Being the only blockbuster this side of November I have no idea what they'll do until then: Just show old films - nostalgia can be profitable.

I think we going to get a no deal.
And with China and it's allies off the picture the main trade deal is going to be the USA.
Was getting no deal from the day dodgy Dom Cummings won A lot of the red wall brexit voters still think they will notice the amount of immigrants in their area reducing - not sure it will happen.

Now on to the second stage where testing is expanded to the USA and Brazil - our cases are now too low for the next stage (Where they wiil test to see if prevents infection when the person comes into contact with the virus.) to held entirely here. I am not sure exactly how long they need but I imagine at least a couple of months as the BBC mentions they also need to check stuff regarding how long the vaccine lasts for.
