My mum said the guard in tesco this morning made no attempt to even advise people to wear a mask and let several walk right past him unmasked. Comparable to smoking? Try walking passed him chuffing on a lit pipe It's like guards are scared.

Daily Covid deaths in Spain are still in single figures and not increasing; the Spanish govt is being very vigilant about honing in on clusters of cases where they occur. Scare headlines in tabloids are rarely accurate. Spain changed the way it counts deaths a while back to a system which would be quite slow at picking up a surge.
Yesterday Spain had 2,615 cases which is very high.

Yet the numbers wearing them only reaches that % on trains and not on buses or in shops. Four buses today, all long journeys and in total only 5 people not wearing masks - fairly even split as 3 male/2 female and 3 mid to late 20's/2 mid to late 40's. As I was upstairs coming back I was also being nosy as other buses went by and the vast majority were wearing masks, certainly in such numbers that the ones who weren't really stood out Not the case here in east london - 50/50 on the buses - no noticeable age or ethnicity patten to wearing/not wearing

Also remember Labour are not going to whole heartly oppose no deal due to the political risks of being seen to be too pro European and no chance of the government having to change course if it's what they decide

I imagine arenas will be the very last to return - and I can't imagine any socially distanced concerts happening so not sure if trials would be worth it. You've got to have trials to test whether measures can work like we've seen with the Palladium and also sports venues. Negativity doesn't solve issues, creativity does. I think with arenas through the finances mean anything commercial non - sd would not be worth it.
It might be more viable if the BBC or ITV filmed arena shows to air and the audience can be trailed as part of it.

All goos but Sadly I can't agree with the sentiment entirely - I don't think it is for the best for long away dates be strong targets when the pandemic is unpredictable and so many people in the country think it is already all over. They would be the temptation to allow un needed risks to be taken to avoid breaking the target even if it would increase the risk of infection beyond a reasonable level.

Cases up a bit today - hopefully just more testing of the barely or non symptomatic rather than new clusters - but with poor enforcement of so many measures i am finding it hard to be positive.

The Journalist Benjamin Butterworth has put on Instagram that no temperature checking happened while he flew with BA. I’m not aware of passenger temperature checks but I can tell you all crew are temperature checked on entering work and there’s a threshold for us to operate. Obviously he can't see crew testing but a lot of people seem to think passengers are being temperature tested and that is used to justify full planes - I certainly did.

I think the government might well use the fact Ireland quarantines Brits to justify possible risks to the Border - they will play dirty to make sure everything is blamed on the EU.

First half was great! Interval now. Bit weird dancing with a mask but people up on their feet! ALW did a speech beforehand, saying how they need more government clarity asap and how important it is to have rhetaee without social distancing. Through I am not sure the goverment can offer clarity on that issue - and also it might be a double edged sword - no distancing might put off people who would go if the seat next to them was empty but not if everyone was cramped in and masks are being removed to eat or drink or simply for people's comfort - by the autumn mask wearing will be fading away if the current lax enforcement continues.

If ALW's pilot proves successful, I wonder if other theatre owners or companies will be willing to come aboard for other pilots on venues that are smaller? It would be interesting seeing how a pilot would work in places like The O2. I imagine arenas will be the very last to return - and I can't imagine any socially distanced concerts happening so not sure if trials would be worth it.

We are on the same song sheet for your first paragraph. With regards to vaccine, there are people who will not take a vaccine, which is fine, if they want to catch Covid and risk the complications that goes with it, then I have absolutely no problem with that. What people don’t have a right to do is transmit it to other people, who are going about their own law abiding way of life. Agree with that and, presumably, other countries will legislate so that anti vaxxers will face fines, maybe more, to have them comply. Johnson melts into a puddle at the thought of telling people to do something for the common good, however, so the chances of it happening here are, sadly, remote. I've read no one quite knows if the ECHR will accept compulsory vaccination for adults or rule it a breach of human rights which will complicate things in Europe.
Remember the UK has not even made the MMR compulsory for Children so it be a bit of a surprise if they do it for the adult public.
Won't be the only country through - the anti vax movement in the UK is relatively weak and doesn't have the political support it has in some countries - look in America where some are scared of anti - vaxers.

It is better to control the low infection rate now and keep it that way than let it blow up again, which it will and trying to control it, when; it is out of control, as it was 2 months ago. Get the armed forces in to hand out fines, if necessary and that includes public transport as well. And if Sainsbury’s aren’t going to help enforce the law, I won’t be shopping there. The government have dillied about masks for too long so I doubt the Army are going to ever going to patrol supermarkets. Usage on trains is pretty good so not needed there.
The government should give the police the power to fine shops but USDAW are reluctant to allow their staff to be made effective police officers - not that many shops employ trained security guards.

Watching Emmerdale and it seems the filming might be moving from using a 2m - 1m - even through current guidance technically still requires 2m unless in some circumstance (Or with testing but that has only been in a week.)

I thought more than two households can't sit at one table - As the aides are there that is four households breaking the 1m plus rule.
