ooh I would live Louise Dearman as Angel and Ruthie as Anna.. cant wait for this though, booked today. A company I have done shows with was attempting to get the rights recently, this would explain why they couldn't!

I saw Patti Russo when I saw the London production. From what I remember she was great, definitely had the lung power to belt out the songs

who do we think Marc is playing? Oscar or Vittorio? Charity? (you gotta have a gimmick) haha, I wouldn't be surprised if the new revised Company starts a trend in gender bending musical roles

I think this will do really well when it eventually tours, I might even be tempted to see it a 3rd time!

^Nothing a few programme notes wouldn't sort, surely? I'm not sure that would be quite enough as there were a lot of local references throughout.

It's not been that long since the last one. Hopefully, unlike the last one, they'll not hire Wizards who can't remember their lines! Hmm could you be talking about Des? He was actually reading his lines off of various props the day I saw it

It will definitely need a rewrite for London. I live about 20 minutes from Sheffield and some of the local references which had the audience in stitches went over my head!

I think we have some great regional theatre productions. I live in Yorkshire and I consider myself to be really lucky that I can travel to Sheffield or Leeds and see fantastic productions produced in house, some of which do even make it to the West End

I had to book and got central row f in the stalls (one row before premium kicks in). By the look of it Row A, B & C in the stalls could be day seats or they are being removed as there was no availability for these seats on any date I looked at.
I'm really intrigued as to which characters will be gender swapped, I've been thinking about it all morning, will they make Bobbie Bi, or will someone is waiting be all about the guys and if so, how will that even work without a full rewrite of that particular song??

I really enjoyed Kathryn Evans, It was a different take on the role and she sung the hell out of it. Her AIWNSG got a standing ovation the day I went, which was the only time I had ever experienced this mid show until Dreamgirls

I'm seeing it tomorrow and really looking forward to it, I've only listened to the CD a couple of times many years ago so the songs will be relatively fresh to me

I didn't pee before Half a Sixpence last night or at interval, or on the hour train there... or on the way back to the train station even though I needed too and then the train home had a broken loo so no toilets on the entire train. ... I mean, granted I found a bush as soon as I got off the train, bit I think I'll be okii at this one. well done, you have proved your worth, you may now take on Follies! hehe

I always thought of the original Follies being in the 20's, and Sally is only meant to be late 40's so I always put it as being set somewhere in the 50's? Not that it matters, they could set it now, a revue show could have happened any time in the 20th century really It matters a great deal. It's not just about a reunion of former showgirls, or an analysis of two unhappy marriages. It's also about the decline/death of the American Dream in the period following World War Two. The focus is on two former showgirls who were part of the Follies' final season in 1940 for a reason: America was at the peak of her powers, was the world's shining beacon of hope - but after the war was won, America's self-image began to change. By 1970, the US had been through Korea and was embroiled in Vietnam, the moral landscape was much more complex, and what had been shiny suddenly seemed to be tarnished. The social history encompassed by the show stretches further back than 1940, of course - I'm Still Here is full of references to specific historical moments/artifacts/incidents, and none of them are arbitrary - but it's no accident that it boomerangs between those two historical points. Ah, Thanks, I'm guessing it will all become clearer when I see it, Follies is one Sondheim I've never had the opportunity to see before.
