If it is the same circus inspired Pippin...is it not a bit similar (style-wise) to Barnum...circus musical theatre has kind of been done there. It was only 3 years ago.

People, Places and Things the night after Denise rightly won her Oliver. I was in the onstage seats, blown apart by her performance and when she came on for a second curtain call carrying her award with a nerdy, 'OMG how did I even get this' kind of look and danced around the stage with the cast while the audience erupted in cheers was awesome.

Yes the brochure is for sale - not sure how much as was revelling in my free programme! £8 according to the RIDICULOUSLY cute US usher who was in the Grand on Wednesday night. Was tempted to buy one just to chat him up.

Speaking of press night, bumping my question from two weeks ago: Me and my friend will go to the opening night on 15 June. We have never been to an opening night on this scale before. Will all the guests who attend the performance walk the red (or in this case purple) carpet or is it for invited guests exclusively and those who regularly booked their tickets will be guided in through a different entrance? On the website, it says the performance begins at 7pm and guests should be seated by 6:30pm. How early in advance should we be at the Prince Edward to not miss out on any of the pre-show red carpet buzz/publicity? Does anybody here have experience with London press nights and can help me? Trust me, the performance will categorically not start bang on 7pm... That said, they'll want the general punters inside the venue by 6.30 (and if you're sat stalls/dress you'll walk the carpet) but you'll be hurried through. From 6.30 the celebs and pap-worthy folk will arrive so they want a clear carpet for photos etc. So, you pretty much will have some of the buzz on the incoming, but not really see much else.

That's not even an official news item, and a lot of the content is wrong anyway.

The show will tour crew and use each venue local crew. Without casting aspersions, faults can often occur due to local stage hands who have to pick up and learn a show plot with little rehearsal, although other difficulties can be down to venue logistics, acoustics, sight lines, venue equipment etc. These things happen.

Jenny Seagrove as Reagan's mother, Tommy Steele as The Exorcist with a third rate Dorothy left over as Reagan, recycling the bed from Scrooge, the staircase from Evita and the backcloth from Blood Brothers. Probably.

the next news article on this will be that she's left the production. Are they doing refunds/exchanges for people who booked to see her? She's above the title isn't she? At an ATG venue? That's about as likely as them spending their restoration levy on restoring their theatres.

I just rang my boss to ask if I could have the rest of the week off because I'm feeling insecure. Didn't get very far! I have colleagues who had lots of time off when their parents had terminal cancer, and I've had colleagues who were signed off work due to stress and anxiety and other mental health crises. Please do not make light of these situations. You say that but there's a reasonably well-known actress battling cancer who is having regular treatment during the day and still turning up for work at night as she tours the UK. No I'm not saying who, nor am I suggesting having a parent battling such a horrific disease is remotely easy, but she's not helping herself by lashing out, behaving so erratically or hitting the self-destruct button so regularly. It's a shame. I didn't rate her in the show, but she's a talented girl but people will start to forget her abilities and only know her for being a mess.

It's no wonder the am drams are lapping up LB and MID, they're both very female heavy.
Female heavy as in M:F ratio, not salad:cake.

What is what that awful artwork though? Hmm...let's stage a gay play, let's put one of the Village People on the poster.
Good casting mind, but surprised they're doing this.

Very shocked by this. From the Bush Theatre on twitter Is this true? Most sources suggest they met when they auditioned for Manchesterford Poly. It may have been better to say that's where they worked together, but you're right, they met at uni. Julie was VW's tour guide and she felt intimidated by her at first. Such a loss. Julie will be undoubtedly heartbroken as we all are.

Oh and his ENDLESS championing of Bend It Like Beckham. If it was written by anyone other than his best friend he'd have hated it and ripped it to shreds.
The lame face-on-a-mug thing was the final straw.

They're stage right, or at least that's where the sound appeared to come from. Oh thanks! Are they visible?? They weren't during in act one. I ***may*** not have gone back for act two...

I've been looking at pictures of the ste and was just wondering where the orchestra is located? Are they below stage? They're stage right, or at least that's where the sound appeared to come from.

Saw it last night and it was V quiet, sound all over the place, but some decent performances. Left feeling pretty underwhelmed which is a shame.

I think middling ticket sales was likely the main reason, theatre owners don't book in new shows if the current one is doing well. Didn't Rufus Hound leave early because he just couldn't work with Robert Lindsay, Certainly did. Lindsay used to really labour and 'enjoy' the scene where Hound was in a wheelchair and used to be way too physical as a way of getting back at him for getting bigger laughs.

It was dying a death at the Savoy, hence the marketing realignment, endless rounds of offers and deals and eventual closing. Likewise the arrogant two-week tour booking which ended up being reduced to one weeks pretty much everywhere and filling gaps where it could was endlessly comped or reduced and barely attended.

If you have the financial availability, why not. Just don't expect a ROI. Sadly long-gone seem to be the days of a smash hit long runner where Angels have lucked out and got their investment back in spades, but it's worth a gamble, and you'll be treated well by a grateful producer (one hopes).

Maybe, or maybe they enjoy being featured ensemble in a hit show grateful for the opportunity to be on stage doing what they trained to do...?
(and no I'm not a bitter out of work actor)
