Wiltons is a much bigger venue than Union so will bring in a lot more revenue and on Saturday afternoon it was nearly full so I'm sure the cast are being paid.

Enjoyable afternoon at Wilton's to see The Mikado. I love the venue and even though they don't have air-con the walls of the building are so thick that it wasn't too hot inside. It was up to the normal high standard, quite a few familiar faces but a lot of new talent there especially in the chorus. It was great fun as always and very funny. My only negative comment is that it was set in a 1950s boys school who seemed to be on a camping trip. However it just didn't make any sense as after the first song where the words had been changed it was clearly the "normal" Mikado for the rest of the show and no reference to a boys school so it really didn't make any sense at all. Some character names changes like Katisha was Kitty Shaw. It didn't spoil me enjoying it at all. They have new seats from when I was last there but they are still slight "bum numbing" and the front row (where we sat) had no leg room at all. Iv'e sat front row before and its not been a problem. I knew I wouldn't last 5 minutes not being able to keep my leg fairly straight so a lovely lady at the end of the row kindly swapped. The only problem was that I was now directly behind the piano and so had difficulty in hearing the singing as the piano was so loud, but again, didn't really spoil it for me.

Any thoughts on stage height at the Savoy? I know some previous productions have had high stages but would you guys agree this one is unlikely too if it’s a basic set? Last thing I saw there from the front row was Dreamgirls and the stage was really high. Had terrible neck ache after.

This should be good as I've only ever seen Linzi in Joseph.

Excellent production. Beautifully sung and acted. Would have preferred one balladeer. Loved the set. I thought the set and staging was very good. They were whipping up the audience before the start which gave it a certain feel How do you whip up the average Chichester audience? Or do you mean "wake up"? 😀

Everyone has mentioned the amazing sets for the Adelphi production. I saw it with Betty Buckley and also Elaine Paige and my memory is not what it was. I remember a sweeping staircase but that's about it. Was there a swimming pool too or have i made that up?

I loved this at Chichester and love Jenna Russell. Hammersmith is a bit of a trek for me, but hopefully will be worth it.

Just had an e mail from LW Theatres to sign up for early access to tickets. Seeing as it's an ATG theatre seems a bit odd. Guess it's because an ALW musical. Wonder if they will have a separate allocation of tickets.

Is this closing? Only booking until early October. No but they only release a few months tickets at a time to create a hype. Similar with Hamilton

I'd heard of the show via social media but didn't know much about. So just listening to the music. Really enjoying it. Nice tunes and it sounds great fun. I'm definitely going to see it.

I love La Cage but this is all sounding like a car crash. I really don't know any of todays drag queens, my knowledge ends at Lily Savage, Danny La Rue and Masie Trolette. I want to see a non drag queen actor play a drag queen not a drag queen playing a drag queen.

How long does it take to get to the theatre from St Pancras by tube? Google maps is telling me about half hour, does that seem about right? You will need to go to King's Cross which is next door and take Metropolitan Line to Wembley Park.

Some good names added especially Damian Humbley and Bradley Jaden. I was hoping Rob Houchen would also be there but maybe he is up to other things.

Well all over now and I hope Sheridan is really proud. She seems in such a good place now. Every show sold out, massive box office advance and I don't think she missed a single show. She seemed really humbled at the end of each performance from the audience reaction and the fans waiting at stage door. I believe she is now off to Greece for real to film a drama. I'm so pleased for her. She was very pampered though chauffeur driven there and back,90 mins on stage! If she had needed to get her own way there she would have missed loads! And why would she do that? All major actors have a driver to take them to the theatre and back again. I'm sorry if I offend but what a very silly statement to make.

Fingers crossed, I’d love a cast recording of this. Surely it should be a live recording if possible though rather than a studio one? I feel like that would be more authentic to the experience this show creates, but not sure if it’d be possible. Definitely on. Marisha has just posted a Tweet and picture of them in the recording studio.

He did an absolutely wonderful one off concert of this a few years ago at The Palace Theatre with an amazing cast and big orchestra.

Decided to listen to the OBC recording just now as I know so little about the musical and to decide if I want to see it. Afraid it's a very big no! Don't know whether it was because I was listening to it in the garden (with ear buds) and it was boiling hot or whether I'm getting older and less broadminded. But songs about "d**k", c**k" and sexual fetishes isn't my idea of a night out.

So now, RuPaul is starring in A STRANGE LOOP at The Barbican?!! That is what is being reported in today's Culture section of The Sunday Times in an article called 'How To Make A Smash Hit' (which is not credited to any journalist). Is fact-checking no longer a "thing"? Sweet, cartwheeling Jesus. I've just been reading that article and I thought to myself "that's news" as I'd not heard anything.

I'm very new to Twitter and only have about 2 followers (probably by mistake). Mostly use to to find out what is going on in the world of musical theatre and have only actually Tweeted a couple of times. Anyway I did a tweet yesterday saying how much I loved Guys and Dolls especially the disco version of Guys and Dolls at the end with Marisha Wallace and said it should be released. And just seen that Marisha bloody Wallace has liked it!!! I'm going to frame it and keep.

I think I’ve listened to the 1 song they’ve released about 30 times so far today. Very catchy! However if you’d told me this was a cut song from Dear Evan Hansen I would probably believe you. Just listened, yes it's very DEH isn't it.

For anyone who has been standing am I right in thinking they were selling pretzels from a trolly before the show? And the smell of those hot dogs in the interval, so tempting but I resisted. I do think they could have sold cheesecake and strudel though.

Thanks alec10 for your post - I’ve just booked a rush ticket for tonight (standing) so great to hear how good you thought the show was. I’m a bit unsure about the standing but for £25 vs the price of a good seat it seemed worth giving it a go! I know the show from seeing the Simon Lipkin/Oliver Thompsett/Rebel Wilson version at the Phoenix but this sounds very different, which I’m excited to see. I also saw that production and this one is very different. You will love the floor standing but don't stand too close to the raised stage during the Havana number unless you don't mind getting wet.

Have to admit I was wary about going to see this as I didn't like the immersive idea and I saw Daniel and Marisha perform one of the songs on TV and wasn't that impressed, but last night made me change my completely. Loved the show. I was sat in the stalls and had a great view (only downside was that for quite a bit of she show I was looking at peoples backs). Loved the staging and the stages rising and falling, I also spent quite a bit of time watching the crew and how they moved props and audience around the place. It must have been a logistical nightmare to get it right and all done so quietly. Superb cast with some great singing. All 4 leads were impressive. Daniel Mays comedy performance was perfect, why have I never heard of Andrew Richardson? Checked the programme and he seems to have done mostly plays but what a great voice. Reminded me of Frank Sinatra/Harry Connick and he was very handsome. Celinde Schoenmaker has such a lovely voice, but I think it was Marisha Wallace who stole the show with a really powerful performance. Have to also mention Cedric Neal as Nicely, Nicely who nailed Rocking The Boat. So nice to also hear a big orchestra who sounded amazing. Loved the interval act and the "dance off" at the end. They need to release that number. The people on the floor were having such a great time and I was slightly envious but, the same with Abba Voyage, i'm far too old to be standing and dancing. Well behaved very middle class audience, guess that's what you get south of the river
