I totally agree tmesis...this was one of the finest performances i've ever seen at ROH.

This has the potential to be another bad TRH production *sigh*

This play was SO dated! It was the worse kind of theatre that just gives you a story, but doesn't try and add any insights etc...and let's face it, this play was so predictable. Having said that, the acting was strong from Jason and Suranne was ok. I really was not impressed by Nina though.

Is Kellie the main Evita for the whole planned Evita tour?

How interesting...I saw Hadley go into the theatre before the matinee.

Quick autographing question. Does anyone know if Surrane normally comes out of the stage door after matinees?

Has anyone heard anything about the casting for The Importance of Being Earnest? It's only in a few months time and given the fact there have been many revivals of this play in recent years (including one currently on UK tour) surely they will need a big name to make this sell?

Does anyone know how long Lyn Paul is in the show for? I'm planning on seeing it in May and would really like to see her.

Thanks Steve, I was hoping to meet Elaine in particular. Has anyone had any luck with her coming out the stage door? Elaine, Julia, Nigel leave round the back of the theatre in the alleyway where their respective cars will pick them up. Should you wish to meet them Thanks, is that the alleyway to the right of the stage door?

Does anyone know if the actors come out the stage door after evening performances? I seem to remember reading there were signs up for Cinderella saying the cast weren’t allowed to stop for photos and autographs and I wondered if this was the same this time? It depends. Different at each performance. Most often Charlie, Emma, Gary and Diversity exit through stage door. The others eg Elaine and Julian often take another exit. Thanks Steve, I was hoping to meet Elaine in particular. Has anyone had any luck with her coming out the stage door?

Oh it was so dull!!! Their Traviata production for WNO was rather naff too.
I agree that on the whole they are excellent (particularly Il Turco in Italia).

I managed to get a standing ticket by keeping the website on favourites and keeping it refreshed. I'm seeing it twice in the same week...one for Kaufman, and the other for Kunde. I know already who will be better Well done! I'm seeing the Friends Final Rehearsal on Saturday am (I'm assuming that will be Kaufmann) and then Jonas again 2 weeks later. So far he seems in rude health... Thank You!
It's a very challenging role to be accepting, especially as you say as Jonas has been in a shaky condition. This could go either way in my opinion...I just hope the production is more compelling than the last one!

I saw the repeat screening of this last night and having seen it live I felt it was captured very well.
I did have to laugh though when Imelda mucked up one of her lines referring to the son as having "blue hair and blue eyes"! She did very well to recover from it though!

I was at the same performance tmesis! I thought Liparit Avetisyan was such a charming Nemorino, and apart from his excellent acting and singing he is the only Nemorino who I truly felt was love-sick. His first aria was so beautifully sung. Equally Pretty Yende was all that you could wish for as Adina, although I felt she was a little hesitant to begin with.
I have to disagree with you about Alex Esposito who I felt was weak as Dulcamara. He didn't, for me, have any comic elements to his portrayal and I felt he didn't have to vocal ability to carry the role off.
The absolute star of the evening for me, however, was Paolo Bordogna as Belcore...what a voice! Utterly superb acting and such a stunning debut.
The production is sensational from start to finish, I can't wait to see how Alagna and Kurzak get on this time around. It's just a shame Paolo Bordogna isn't singing in both casts.

They do lots of performances, the ones with the more popular dancers tend to be sold quicker.
Keep an eye on the "normal people" release date for tickets and you will be able to get the tickets you want. I'd recommend booking online close to the release date and time.
It's a magical production, I hope you enjoy it!

Pretty Yende sung beautifully, particularly in the second half, where her Adina actually falls in love with Nemorino, and she dropped the coldness, and silenced the house with her sonorous high note bullseyes. Adina has always been in love with Nemorino, she just was waiting for the right moment to tell him...which conveniently is Act 2!

i think what can be learned from this thread is don carlo is cursed!!! stay home and watch the dvdNo, it's Rigoletto who is cursed.... Technically, the opera that is supposed to be the most cursed of all is La Forza del Destino

You incredibly lucky person! Both incredible singers, I'm not surprised they managed to captivate attention from their performances alone (despite the lack of staging).
The DVD with Mariusz Kwiecien is impressive, vabbian have you seen it?

Ok...all in all a disappointing day yesterday. I really hope that Kristen gets well and it must have been a shock for her being rushed to hospital however I would question the ROH on their policy for having a standby singer. It is my understanding that all main roles have a singer on standby, so what happened on this occasion? The cast did very well performing selections from acts 1-3, however the best music comes from acts 4-5! Vabbian, there are lots of better opera singers for you to explore tmesis wow, that's impressive. We should talk more

Darius is performing at Southampton this week opposite Sheridan and gives a wonderful performance, better than he did in London. Sheridan was excellent as always. Kit Benjamin was also on last night as Mr Keeney in place of Martin Callaghan if anyone is interested.
On a side note, has anyone been to the stage door for Sheridan for this on tour? We were informed last night Sheridan would not be signing due to her schedule and she exited via a different door, I'm sure not by her choice. I was just wondering if this had happened elsewhere, or if we were just unlucky last night?

This production is very poor, in my opinion. I have yet to see this cast which is victim to loosing one of its starts (Krassimira stoyanova). I may let you know what I think of this once I've seen it...if I'm feeling nice

The WORST for me was Shane Ritchie in "Grease," with the fake "poke in the eye" routine. You're showing your age dear
