Yes, the hare was there as a sticker on the yellow pole. Brilliant episode, Steve was excellent as the brash drag queen. And what a name! Wilma Dickshow

Very interesting, thanks n1david. I presume that means the same will happen for this production... at least I've been warned in advance now, that would have been quite the disappointment on the night!

[...] I loved Positive Role Model and was surprised that they swapped it out for Vocal, but I must admit that the lyrics of Vocal do work better in the show. Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? They swapped out Positive Role Model? But I want a Positive Role Model!

This isn't a great ad for the show i dont think. [clip removed to avoid bloating page] It's a shaky start, the words don't fit that well, may have been better 'speak sung' until the song gets more determinedly on beat, but that happens quite quickly and I liked it from there. A bit of a Marianne Faithful quality to it vocally; I've forgotten when this is set and want kind of rock diva she's meant to be. Perhaps for younger audiences today (even it's still set 25 years ago) Marianne Faithful isn't a very resonant reference; I'd say Hazel O'Connor or Toyah Wilcox type icons may be more believable but they're probably a mystery to many too, lol. Yes I believe even though it was set in early 2000s, the character of Billie was an "old diva". I've found my original Billie Trix promo which gives more of an idea of Billie's era; it's her fictional single Run Girl Run listed as the "original 1971 single version" and "1981 post-apocalyptic nightmare mix". It even comes with a fictional potted history: Can you tell I'm getting excited for this!? I steered clear of the previous revivals but will definitely be booking for this one.

I rather liked that! On the whole I think the speedier tempo works well, although it does get a bit muddled around the "I who studied make-up" section. The characteristics/accent seem to be at least inspired by the "other Frances" from the original cast, which I'm glad about as I thought Frances Barber's characterization was indeed iconic (even though I am no longer fond of that actor). I must dig out my old promotional copy of the "Billie Trix" single that they sold in the 2001 production, I was genuinely shocked to realise that was 23 years ago now.

Ncuti is definitely confirmed for season 3 of Doctor Who, one of the reasons they have been shooting so far in advance is to allow Ncuti a break to do something of his choosing between S2 and S3 without messing up the transmission plan. At first he said he might just use the break to take a holiday, but we're being treated to this instead!

Quite a few other inventive compositions in that old thread, too.
With apologies for de-railing, back on the original topic.
On another board I frequent there were many users talking about how they will boycott the Late Night with the Devil movie because they used AI to generate art for one of the fake TV ident cards. Even if you don’t believe AI is stealing from other artists’ source material, it’s surely stealing potential work from them.
I think it’s fascinating how quickly the technology is advancing, but its potential uses raise all sorts of moral questions.

Incredible, mouseinthetheatre ! Almost as good as the composition pianowithsam and I came up with: TheatreBoard! TheatreBoard! How to win an Olivier Award? Who’s in the cast? Who will direct? No, not them... I have to object! Is there a dog? What height is the stage? Dayseats? No! That fills me with rage! I loved the cast You really should go But oh my word Bad behaviour at a show! Some sang along Some played with their phone Some kept quiet Not Patti LuPone! Do I make the team?

Good casting with Robert Sheehan. I imagine he would also have been good in the role as Marwood ("I")... now I'm wishing for a NT Frankenstein type production where the leads alternate both roles

What screen did he have to look through? The Haymarket has perspex screens dotted about the front of the Upper Circle for safety reasons. You can see one of them on the left of this image (from a reviewer on SeatPlan.com):

More recently (if you can call 1992 recent!) it was used in the song I Don't Care by Shakespears Sister, although in turn that's quoting Edith Sitwell's c.1922 poem Hornpipe.

That’s not good chestwig , they should have sent you an email at least. Might it have gone into your junk mail folder? I got my email from disneyplus@mail.disneyplus.com on 1 December with subject “Important updates to your subscription plan”, hope that helps. I agree over £10 is too much and am reconsidering my subscription.

Really exciting news! When I saw the headline I thought "please be the musical, please be the musical" expecting to be disappointed, but "Lo" and behold my wishes have come true!
I think J-Lo might be a decent fit for Aurora, especially for numbers like Gimme Love.
Shall we start fan-casting Molina and Valentin? I think Christian Borle would make a good Valentin, although I expect they'll go for someone more known for film work.
And it must surely be mandatory for Chita to get at least a cameo appearance, thankyouverymuch!

I'm quite enjoying this show, I like the tactical elements and some of the challenges seem pretty brutal, more entertaining than the tasks in Traitors.
I didn't think Leilani would last 5 minutes, she's hilariously camp - even more so when you find out she's the same Leilani who released some chart-dodging silliness between 1999-2000.
Here she is with her debut Madness Thing which reached #19. It was followed with Do You Want Me? (#40) and Flying Elvis (#73).
I did buy some of her singles, purely for their Almighty remixes of course... does that make it any better? Possibly yes, probably no!

Great idea for a thread! Should we cover any films we've watched, or just relatively recent releases?
Last night I watched The Boogeyman (2023), an adaptation of the Stephen King short story. I went in with low expectations and found it to be quite enjoyable - it's a simple horror story playing on our basic fears of things that hide in the dark, and it makes a decent attempt to elevate into Badabook territory with its treatment of grief. Nicely shot, decent performances, a few silly jump scares but tempered by a fair few proper scares too.
3.5/5
I'm looking forward to seeing Talk to Me, glad you enjoyed it so much.

Last night as the opening dance kicked off outside, I was stage left/audience right and saw him (Gandalf) standing at the top of the stairs leading to the dressing rooms/backstage - it was surreal and ethereal, and actually made me choke up. It was like a cross between character and actor, as overseer of events unfolding below. It was a profound moment - I'm not sure if he does this every night but I desperately wish I could have taken a photo to frame the moment. We had cover Gandalf but spotted him there and thought it was fab. Him watching from afar. [...] That's lovely, I didn't spot him when I was there. Great photo. A shame about the door sticker though - unless it reads "Fire door: YOU SHALL NOT PASS!!" I went a few weekends ago, and am still collecting my thoughts. I'm really glad I got to see such an inventive production, but I didn't really gel with the musical itself. Wonderful performances, great staging and lighting, and the use of outdoor space was quite magical. It helped that the night I was there was the night of the blue moon, the lighting assistant was Mother Nature herself! I've been to the Watermill before, it's so beautiful inside, but I was very disappointed with my seats this time around. We were just off-centre in the 3rd row of the Circle (row L), and missed pretty much everything that was done with that versatile knot of wood (due to the overhang of the roof/lighting rig), even when I crouched my head down I could barely make out the bottom half of it, so they were effectively a pair of £50 "restricted view" seats. Still, it did mean we got to enjoy Gollum's arrival in full. I found it a bit dull in places, but that's more my issue as I'm not a huge fan of the source material, and I don't remember any of the songs, but I'm really grateful I got to see (most of) it in this amazing setting. I give it 2/5 for the musical itself, but 4/5 for this imaginative production.

Peter Serafinowicz might be a good choice for this. I am totally on-board with this casting idea! Don’t think he has done much stage/live work, but his current Brian Butterfield tour is proof he is a brilliant character performer. Have you been able to see the Brian Butterfield tour? I'm very jealous, it sold out so fast - I nearly choked on my bonbonbonbons!

Natalie Bassingthwaighte (Izzy) had a big hit with Rogue Traders called Voodoo Child, it even got featured prominently in a Doctor Who episode.

I don't know if anyone else is a fan, but I am loving the current series of Only Murders in the Building. The setting has partially moved outside of the apartment block and the plot has to do with an opening on Broadway with guest stars from the film and stage world. Most of the regular supporting cast are stage veterans as well, so it's been a lot of fun, especially when dealing with stagey cliches and superhero or cop show cliches. Yes, I'm enjoying this too! I love Martin Short, he's so good at reaction noises and has seriously funny bones. He reminds me of Liza Minnelli, of all people!

What would have been a better title for this? So far I've come up with one I think the more sardonic side of Mr S may have been amused by: "Not While I'm Around" Or, using a lyric from Comedy Tonight!... Cameron's | SOMETHING | EXPENSIVE |
