My erstwhile bf, who used to be a club dj, has been recommending remixes of this Kylie mega-hit, but none really grabbed me. That resulted in some YouTube research by me (otherwise known as procrastinating from work) going through literally dozens of versions, and I thought I'd share my findings (as I know there are other ageing disco bunnies on here who may appreciate my work, but happy to delete if this is too off-topic even for General Chat).
Here's my short list of favourites with comments:
Sakgra Extended Mix
If Stock Aitken Waterman (when they dabbled in Italo House) still did Kylie...
Bearly Disco Mix
Fully admiring of the detailed work on this, with an Arabian feel at times, the title suggests it's for bears, so no doubt some on here will love it!
Scott. The Pigeon Bootleg Remix
Best and most exciting opening, and some gorgeous new percussion and under-scoring. If this doesn't become an official release, I'd be amazed.
IKS REMIX
Close contender for overall favourite; quite hard and trancey.
90's Eurodance Remix
Nicely speeded up with the sort of HiNRG beat that makes you want to do seedy things in a seedy club. Love the silly cartoon video too.
But my overall winner is:
Liam Pfeifer Remix
Does the best at hiding that awful clipped bass on the original, at least after the intro, and is so utterly bouncy and groovy with some lovely synthetic strings in the play-out.

I don't think any remix can beat the genius of the original, it is perfection as it is.
I am loving the memes and videos more. The fact the White House is Tweeting videos featuring the song is just mind-blowing.
I LOVE this it's amazing!!!

Are we loving Tension?
The song is ok, but I am loving the Suspira inspired video!

She may not be the greatest singer on earth but she puts on a bloody good show and she's had 35 years of success. It's a pretty strong back catalogue and she keeps delivering. Long may she continue. Tension is the catchiest song she's done in years 😁

Tension is the catchiest song she's done in years 😁 She is actually a fantastic singer within her range and she has worked very hard on perfecting what little she has to work with and has a near perfect control of what little voice she has. The 'sound' of her voice is not always 'pleasant' (that falsetto URGH!!!), but to say she can't sing and has no talent is a massive disservice to the massive amounts of work she has done over the years. She could certainly outsing Madonna in any competition you could/would put either of them in. Her albums are usually patchy at best, but as a live performer she is almost unbeatable. Every time she releases something there is the 'best she's done in years' thing going on, but both Golden and Disco were fantastic albums with both showing maturity and experience in her song writing skills. She has NEVER pretended to be anything other than she is, someone who lucked out but takes full advantage of giving the people who love her all she can give. THAT is her talent as far as I'm concerned.

I've never been a huge Kylie fan as I didn't particularly like SAW production line music. There have been some of her songs that I've liked, she looked good in hot pants and on the roundabout in Got to be Certain video. But she has maintained a good deal of success over the years with her music, always plays decent sized venues, overcame a serious health scare in the 2000's too.
Her music career has always been successful enough that she has been able to stick with it, she has never diversified into musical theatre, acting, pantos etc where the money offers would have been lucrative so she has clearly been very successful and looked after her money.
Her new work musically is better than other "work" she may have had done.
She has clearly has a loyal fanbase of all ages, is a lot of people's guilty pleasure as well as being a gay icon.
Lots of soap stars have had a hit or a few hits but she has had 35 years of success so I salute you Kylie even if I did prefer Annie Jones in Neighbours back in the late 1980's.

She is also 'the' 2nd most famous and recognisable person in the UK after the Queen...apparently....

Kylie seems to be on a roll again. Follow up single Tension entered the top 20 this weekend so that bodes well for the album of the same name out on 22nd of this month.

I've heard snippets and leaks of some of the album, I think it's going to be a good one 😁

Ahh, isn’t funny when people who just haven’t been paying much attention graciously condescend to admit that someone might be ok, actually. Kylie has sold over 80 million records worldwide. She is the highest selling female Australian artist of all time, Billboard report she is the 18th best selling dance artist of all time and the U.K. official chart company in 2012 listed her as the 12th best selling singer in the U.K. She has enjoyed a phenomenally successful career that most pop stars can only dream of.

Yes, much more than the highly gimmicky and musically slight Padam Padam (got bored of that after about 2 weeks)

She has survived all the other singers who came out of Neighbours.
The only one still around, still performing and recording new music is Natalie Imbrublia.

She has pretty much out survived most female singers who started when she did. While most of them probably still tour, they are not having or ever had anywhere near her continued level of chart success with every release.

Delta did her first ever UK tour recently and Natalie has had long gapsa between her albums. Jason is still singing but has maimnly been a theatre/nostalgia act since he cleaned himself up after his crazy period.
Kylie clearly has a hardcore fanbase plus has picked up younger dance fans and has the LGB fans who straddle both of these.
She has had ups and downs commercially in her career but has always had her back catalogue and loyal fans to see her through the quieter periods.

And of the neighbours crew, anyone remember Craig McLachlan? Whatever happened to him?- Don't answer. The question's rhetorical. I know what happened to him.

Kylie just has that sort of magic, you can't put your finger on it really. She is a pop icon and will always have success as long as she continues recording and even beyond with her huge back catalogue.

How many Neighbours stars had chart success ?
Kylie Jason Stefan Dennis Delta Goodrem Craig McLachlan Natalie Imbruglia Dan Falzon had a band called Milk
Plus Madge and Harold and the Twins both released less successful records.
Plus there have been cameos from Pet Shop Boys, Denise Van Outen and Sophie Ellis Bextor.
Anyone think of anymore?
