I love the concept ! The venue looks great and the staff were all talented and friendly, chatting away to people. The food was really overpriced for what it was though. £18 for what was essentially a hot dog sausage from a jar, in a plain bread bun with 6 chips. The desserts were amazing though! I’d go back for cake and a drink but not for a proper meal.

The Guardian, What’s On Stage and Telegraph reviews are all pretty decent and high praise for Sam Tutty all round. Any others been released? Interested to read some more. How many stars is "pretty decent"? 3 out of 5? Haven't had a chance to read any...did they like Rebecca? 5* from What’s On Stage and Independent. 4* The Guardian

This was used for Chris Rocks most recent arena tour when I was working at Leeds Arena. It went pretty smoothly even for 13.5k people as they made sure there were plenty of stations to go get it unlocked.
Can’t see it taking off for everything though as it is an extra hassle for both customers and staff.

Just on the way home from this and wow! I wasn’t sure what to expect but I lover everything! Great staging and amazing cast and energy. It’s just so much fun. Even if you’d had a terrible day I don’t see how you could leave this without a smile on your face.

Hi has anyone dayseated for this recently? Don’t get into london until 11am on Saturday and I know the day tickets are available from 10.30. Do you think I’d be able to get a pair if I wasn’t there when the box office opened?

Leeds Grand was my local theatre before I moved it London so been many many times. The balcony seats row aa-cc have quite a decent view and the upper circle is ok from most places I’ve sat. Whenever I’ve sat in the dress circle I’ve had viewing issues due to the pillars so would probably pick upper or those balcony ones over that area.

Hi everyone I have just started working for a UK arts organisation and am conducting some market research for them so they can conduct a brand audit. If anyone could be kind enough to spare me 10 minutes to answer a short questionnaire, I would be very grateful. You will not need to provide personal details, such as name, contact details etc. All participants will remain anonymous and data collected will only be used by myself and the organisation internally. goo.gl/forms/sAl8f5XCxbiGNMA62If you have any questions about the questionnaire or experience any technical issues, let me know. Sorry, if this thread needs moving to another area of the board. Many thanks Becki

Alex Brightman was lovely and actually seemed interested in talking to people at the stage door. After he guessed perfectly where in the U.K. I was from it turned out he liked to learn different Yorkshire dialects so we had a random chat about Yorkshire slang words.

Thank you for all your replies so far. We need to make a distinction between celebrity casting and stunt casting. I'm interested in looking at this side of it a bit more because the papers I've read that have researched the practice before don't really seemed to have touched on it and I too think it's an important distinction to make.

I suggest the OP has a look at the Ghost thread during the time when Sarah Harding was in the show. There's enough material there for a dissertation! She's definitely on my list of case studies!

Hi I'm thinking of doing my postgraduate dissertation on celebrity casting in the UK theatre industry and how this can enhance or disrupt a production and the audience experience. I'm just trying to collate some general ideas to start me off and wondered what are some of the best and worst celebrity castings you've experienced. This can be purely based on the celebrity's performance or it could be the theatre experience in general i.e full of screaming fans, audience not interested in the actual performance etc. Thanks

Does anyone have a spare programme from 2016 WEL that they would be happy to give me? Or alternatively scan me some pages of it?
I couldn't make it last year and need some information for a uni project.
Thanks!

Someone with a crying baby at Strictly Ballroom at the WYP this afternoon, and someone right behind decided to open something wrapped in crinkly cellophane halfway through Act 1. The audience was pretty bad at this on 30th Dec. Two women in the block next to me clearly thought they were at a kareoke night and started singly really to the songs they knew. The kids behind were bored and spent the whole first act rustling packets of sweets and there was a girl who must have only been about 6 that was constantly asking her mum really loudly what was happening.

I had to give you a like for a-plus use of the phrase bell-end. It is a much underused insult with the kids these days. And that fella sounds an utter bell-end One of my favourite insult phrases

I was surrounded by badly behaved people at Half a Sixpence last night. The couple in front were leaners and blocked my view for the majority of the first half and then they shuffled into some other seats in the interval. Multiple people kept getting their phones out and the guy on our right couldn't stick to his own space and kept encroaching in our foot space. Good job the leg room was quite generous and we're short so didn't need much room.

Just go to back from this. I loved the film when I was younger so was really looking forward to seeing it but I thought it was too long and had far too many new songs in it that weren't really necessary. It all felt a bit disjointed as well. Charlie Stemp was really good although after a while his Lee Evans esque acting got a little bit to much.

Just caught up on the One Show. The performance showed off how amazing the kids are but David didn't seem like he wanted to be there. I was really looking forward to seeing him as my friend really enjoyed his performance last week but I think I'd rather see Gary again after that snippet.

Just got back from the matinee as well and loved it! Was very happy with my £15 seat and had a great view.
Gary Trainor was on again and I thought he played the character really well. His voice got better as the show went on but he's not quite up there with Alex for me. Rosanna Hyland was on as Miss Mullins and I thought her voice was much more suited to the part than Sierra's was.
The kids are the real stars of the show and they were incredible! I like that the band all watch them when they're playing near the end, just as proof they're really playing. They all look in awe at them and its nice to see them clapping them on.
People during the interval and on the way out everyone seemed pretty positive about it so hopefully this ones here to stay for a bit!

Saw this on Broadway last night and absolutely loved it! I hope they bring Alex over for a bit because he's perfect as Dewey.

It depends where you want to stand really. I like to get there early and either get a good spot near the front or sit on the steps. We normally start queuing about 8.30am and last year there was a pretty big queue already when we got there. It's gotten really popular and so much busier than when I first started going. You can get in and out during the day but there's normally pretty big queues to get back in. We left about 4 last year after Jersey Boys and there was still quite a big queue to get in. It's a good day though and a great chance to see lots of different shows.

Personally, I would only allow people that have their coat/bag game sorted into theatres so you don't have to wait while they gather up their belongings when you need to get past. This! I'm usually rushing out of the theatre to catch a train and people are always dawdling to put their coat on or they're chatting to each other. At least move out of people's way if you want to chit chat or do it on the move!

First time I saw Bend It Like Beckham a couple turned up 15 minutes late and disrupted everyone but then they decided to open and eat a huge bag of cheesy Doritos! Why would anyone think that's ok in a theatre?!
Also we went to an early evening performance at our local Panto before Christmas and there was a steaming drunk woman who kept screaming out really inappropriate things. It was quite funny for the half an hour but then it just got ridiculous because she was heckling after every other line. Plus the audience was full of kids and she kept shouting out obscene things about Robin Hood and his tights.
