Lots or you need to go and see this. Mainly because if I had to suffer through it, then you should too.
Full review will be posted tomorrow, but yeah.... dreadful!

Anyone else being proper stagey tonight and following up the BBC1 Musicals concert with the Elaine Paige BBC documentary? Lovely seeing some classic performance footage 😀

The costumes are fine.
Sharlene Hector has been on as Effie all week at MK so far. She's absolutely brilliant. We had a second cover on as Curtis last night who was quite weak. I wasn't sure about Deena when she started singing lead but I warmed to her, and Lorrell was excellent.
The film keeps a better pace I think, Act 1 drags a bit. And the racial injustices and civil unrest at the time are highlighted more clearly in the film. But it's still a really good night out 😁

Zoe Birkett has been in tech learning the cover as Satine.... if Zoe has scheduled Satine dates that might just convince me to go.

Rewatching the film tonight in preparation for reviewing the tour at MK tomorrow. I'd forgotten how good the music was 😍

Yeah I'm a bit gutted I'm already busy on Monday otherwise I would've tried to go. They've still got just under a week so hopefully they'll sell a fair amount.

I'm confused why the 'amiable, good-looking man of thirty-six with a boyish face' (in the novel) is being played by.... Ian Beale 🤣

She was already this good 7 years ago...
She is going to be a really memorable and exciting Elphaba.

I was torn between three for Poodle, h3 sounded exactly like Gary Barlow one week, then Mika another, and Tom from Keane, so I got close but never committed!
Robobunny is Mark from Westlife, that's the only other I'm certain of.

Oh it's completely daft with its tongue firmly in its cheek, but the cast are fantastic and it's a lot of fun 😀

Sounds interesting but I know only the board game from childhood and had no idea there was a film, albeit with a different name. So as I wouldn't want to feel out of my depth, does anyone know, please, whether I'd need to be familiar with the film? I don't even know whether that bears any resemblance to the board game. No you'll be fine, it's still the same 6 main characters and the plot is just working out who the murderer is. It's a great film though, watch it if you can 😀

Coming next, Line Of Duty: The Musical, Tiger King: The Musical and Naked Attraction: The Musical (be very scared if you're in the front row for that one).
Yeah, I'm going with Why? I'm all for new shows but not just turning random TV series into musicals for no reason.

I saw this at Christmas and hated every second. Style of substance. Weak leads. Poor book. Not for me at all. That's exactly what's putting me off, it sounds such a disappointment after waiting 20 years for that story to come to life. Fancy sets and costumes will impress me for maybe 10 minutes, I'm not paying £100 for that if there's nothing behind it. I'll leave the hen parties to it!

So this gets more interesting....
The 2009 San Diego tryout had more talking, a different opening and ending, changed dialogue, additional scenes, and a significantly different score. No sign at all of "Picture Show", "When I Drive", "Raise A Little Hell", "Made In America", "Too Late To Turn Back Now" or "That's What You Call A Dream", and "How 'Bout A Dance' reduced to a smaller song near the end. The original songs in their place (and others for secondary characters) were nowhere near as good. And Laura Osnes and Stark Sands only had a fraction of the chemistry that Laura had with Jeremy. The reworked Broadway version (and subsequently the version we saw this week) is vastly superior.
I don't condone bootlegs but they don't half reveal some fascinating stuff!

Hoping to review for this in March. If they can capture the essence of the Clue movie they're onto a winner 😀

This thread is the first I’ve heard of their PAYG scheme and it almost sounds like a deal too good to be true! You can see 5 shows for only £60! That’s such great value for money. How does it work when it comes to booking tickets, do you get emailed a certain code or something that you need to submit at the checkout? Or does it only work over the phone? It really is brilliant. Just pay for the package and it allocates it to your account. Then when you book a seat for a show, when you get to the payment page it asks you if you want to use one of your credits, and if so you just pay nothing and it reduces your credit balance. Nice and easy 😁

the Broadway one is 2 hours 8 minutes and then pre-Broadway is 2 hours 15 That's really interesting, as this was about 2 hours 25 minutes, so assuming a 30-minute interval, it's only a few minutes shorter than the full versions. What's the usual ratio of dialog to music in a musical, if there is such a thing? I watched the bootleg in the end last night and I would say we got 90-95% of the script in the concert this week. There were a handful of scenes with Bonnie and her mother which I don't remember from Monday (or I've blanked it) but otherwise most of it was there.

“ Good evening Ladies and gentlemen this is Peter James. Please switch off your mobile phones, if you don’t then you might be the one looking good DEAD!”A nervous giggle emanated from the sparse audience. Sadly that was about as tense as things got all evening. I can fully understand how someone like Adam Woodyatt, after a lifetime in a soap, might want to break free and do some proper acting on a proper stage with proper people watching. Why he would choose this load of old hokum to do it in God only knows. Especially as he still seems to be playing Ian Beale while Gaynor Faye continues with a lifetime of playing… Gaynor Faye. They’re a married couple with a 16 year old (going on 30) son who are thrown into a deadly game of cat and mouse. The set is their fabulous expensive and perfect (we are told) designer home which actually looks like it was furnished at Home Bargains. The police station complete with a copper called Bella rolls on and off with depressing regularity and there’s a sex dungeon behind some accent wallpaper. I’ve never read a Peter James novel, or seen any of his tv series and after this I’ll not be seeking them out. I actually laughed out loud and it wasn’t supposed to be funny. Dreadful ⭐️. You make it sound fabulous! I'm reviewing it at Cambridge the week after next so I'll try and be kind 😊

Did they do the complete show, with the scenes in between the songs included? It didn't appear to be complete scenes (I'd not seen the original to compare, however), just enough dialog to set the context for the song. I've just checked the two bootlegs I have, the Broadway one is 2 hours 8 minutes and then pre-Broadway is 2 hours 15. So it feels like we got most if not all of the book, but I haven't watched them yet 😁

What do we think about casting? Jordan Luke Gage finishes &Juliet in March……this starts in April…….🤔 Yep I thought the same.....and we know he's got the rocky edge to his voice from his Bat days. I think it's a very strong possibility. Maybe he'll reunite with Christina Bennington as Bonnie? What's she got lined up?
