Is this the version with Stig Rossen and Emma Kershaw? I've looked for it for ages but can't find it anywhere (or only at some exorbitant price). Love the Gothenburg live concert version with Tommy Korberg. Yes. I don't have a CD copy. Even when I was trying to buy it back in about 2008 it was already out of print. I like it because it includes more music than the concept album or the OLC. Isn't the Gothenburg one in Swedish, or am I mixing it up with another recording? No the 1994 Chess in Concert with Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra is definitely in English. Tommy Korberg and Anders and Karin Glenmark are on it. There was a later studio version (2002?) sung in Swedish I think. I found the Danish Cast version on youtube and listened to the start of it last night. Can see why many recommend it as the recording to get. Very impressive performances.

Chess, Danish tour cast. I always resort to Chess when I'm depressed about shows I love closing (in this case I'm getting depressed 3 weeks in advance). Do other people have this, one particular show they turn to when upset about other shows, or is it just me? Is this the version with Stig Rossen and Emma Kershaw? I've looked for it for ages but can't find it anywhere (or only at some exorbitant price). Love the Gothenburg live concert version with Tommy Korberg.

warm-up bloke made half hearted attempts to get our circulation going, but the wonderful Andy Collins he most certainly wasn't, and limp 'jokes' about his hamster learning to drive and falling asleep at the wheel made our very own Monkey seem like Eric Morecambe! He wanted material "cheap" so I just sold him the stuff I don't use, OK? Caveat Emptor and all that. I wouldn't be surprised if Caveat Emptor turns out to be another judge/presenter. Jordan Banjo?...surely not.....

Another little look at the Theatre I went to the theatre before to see if I could pick up my tickets for tonight early - they said I couldn’t and that “ushers swipe your cards on arrival and you get a paperless ticket”. On another note I’ve never seen so many workmen hard at it! I hope all the paint dries and things are put away by 6pm tonight! Eek. Cue stampede of theatregoers to see workmen hard at it!!

I once went to a Halloween fancy dress in Manchester where a girl was in tears because the door staff wouldn't allow her in. She was carrying a 7 foot scythe with a 2 foot blade. That's not fancy dress in Manchester!

Rhyl? Rhyl? Rhyl? It's not even the north Wales coastal city of culture never mind the European city of culture!!! Absolutely!! It is however, the home town of Kane Oliver Parry and Rebecca Trehern apparently.

Two mobiles went off in the last 10 minutes of Warhorse at Liverpool Empire on Saturday. Other than that, there was a noticeable lack of glowing screens for a change.

Did we ought to warn people about the danger of wild ferret attacks and black pudding outages? Put the whippet on ATTACK mode Hulmey. Ill summon the pigeons back to base. Is there still a rickets epidemic up here?

I loved the show. Never seen it before, thought all the leads were magnificent, wonderful book and score. An absolute treat. At the Odeon Wrexham, we lost sound twice for about a second each time. Synching was fine, balance was OK but some dialogue was overpowered occasionally. The highlight for me was hearing Phillip Quast's sumptuous vocal for the fist time for ages. I hadn't realised he was in it until I heard his unmistakable voice. Delightful.
We also had a famous face in the audience, Terry Hand ex-director of the RSC and more recently Theatre Clwyd.

Whoops! What happened there?? I didn't touch it your honour!! Anyway, what I was trying to say was that I have been trying to find out the same for tonight because I need to get a train home, but last time I attended a live event - Company perhaps? - it really did start on time and a lot of people were late. I wish cinemas were more open about actual start times. I've just checked the NT website and tonight's performance is listed as starting at 7pm www.nationaltheatre.org.uk/shows/follies-whats-on-listing
However, it states running time of 2hrs 10 mins (no interval) but the cinema show is listed as 2 hrs 40 mins suggesting the start time is later. In the few previous NT live broadcasts I have seen, most have been preceded with a talk about the production. Not sure as to what may be happening here.

The NT Live broadcast tonight is listed at starting at 7pm in our local cinema. I presume the performance will start at 7:30?

Theatre Clwyd has always been a huge draw in North Wales and I've attended for many years. The regular cast however, didn't appear last year (coinciding with the new AD's appointment) and I felt (along with all of the group I go with) that it was a pale imitation of the previous years. It was still very popular and maintained the same actor-musician format but didn't have the same impact. Missing participants included Phylip Harries (Dame), Dan Lloyd (Posh Landowner), James Haggie (Buttons/Wishee Washee) and Lyndsay Goodhand (Good Fairy). All are absent again this year so we'll be giving it a miss again.

My pet peeve at Sunset Boulevard last night, talking over the orchestra during the overtures. It's not that often you get to hear such a large orchestra these days so pipe down and enjoy it! Grrr Oh yes I had that one too. The old dears nearby loudly talking to each other "oh there he is look! That guy from the telly. You know? Strictly! Do you remember?" The audience were fine at Saturdays performance with regards to talking but what I found irritating was the light from the toilet doors opening during the performance. The toilets are inside the auditorium in the stalls area. Never seen that before. At least once, a member of the house staff exited during Act 2.

Some excellent performances last night, I thought. The 2 leads were excellent but I must admit to being very impressed with Danny Mac who I thought commanded the stage well during his almost constant presence on stage. Fine voice too from him. Ria performed the big numbers beautifully as expected. I also loved Adam Pearce as Max with his mixture or menace/fragility/stoicism. The orchestra were superb, producing a beautifully balanced sound. And a mention for the ensemble numbers which added some light and humour to the performance. Not my favourite show to be honest, but that's just my personal preferences.
And thanks to those who gave parking suggestions for me. £2 street parking on Hulme Street. Bargain!!

Making my first visit to Phantom two weeks today for the matinee. Taking a friend and long time fan for her birthday treat all the way from North Wales. Stalls J7 and 8 for £44 a piece, seemed decent value to me.

Looking forward to seeing this Saturday night at the Palace. Burly BurlyBeaR (and others), is there any metered street parking nearby? The last time I parked in the NCP (a few years ago, granted)it took an age to get out. Friends who saw Bat out of Hell at the Opera House managed to park on the streets near there. Wondering if there is the same opportunity near the Palace please.
