Well I guess they don’t have understudies after all cause I have just got an email saying tonight’s performance is cancelled. I’m on a train from Scotland as we speak coming down to see it and now I guess I’m putting my back up plan into place. Sooooo Evita or JCS??? Hmmm. Already booked to see Come From Away, Waitress, and Hamilton. Any other suggestions of something I should be checking out are welcome. 😊

Normally I’m happy to see an understudy (I’m see Rachel’s understudy on Wed night in Come From Away and I’m perfectly happy to do so) but I’m a huge Jenna fan and booked this show to see her. I can only get to London once a year and always have a long list of things I want to see in a short space of time. I bumped 4 shows off the list for Bridges so now i’d rather see one of those. I’m sure the understudy is fantastic but I just need to chose wisely to get the best out of my trip. 😊

That's Easter Sunday, in case that helps or hinders anybody's planning! Yup, as much as I love SJB, there is no way I'm trying to navigate through inevitable rail works to come down from Scotland for this.

I know it's not a revival as it's not been in London yet.....but I'm STILL waiting for a West End production of Next to Normal.

Jenna has just tweeted that she's ill and I'm coming down from Scotland to see this on Tuesday. Yikes! Wishing her a speedy recovery.....however I am organising a Plan B incase she's off.

Another vote for Martin Guerre (if it's a mix of the London and UK Tour production) and also Starlight Express (if it's a full blown production with the race track and not that ridiculous 3D screen). Starlight was the very first show I saw in London when I came down from Scotland for my 18th birthday many moons ago so it holds a special place in my heart. I'd also happily buy tickets for a revival of Ragtime and Rent, heck throw in a Jekyll and Hyde revival as well (as long as the Hoff isn't playing the lead).

I've only left at the interval once in my life and that was at Peter and the Starcatcher in NY (even the fact that it won a Tony couldn't make me stay for Act 2), I'm hoping that this show won't suffer the same fate.

I just meant that if it was a popular show that parents would take kids to then it might be harder to get a good seat in Aug. I don't think that will be the case for Fiddler though, as it's not overly kid friendly.

Thank you, that's exactly what I will do. Hopefully the fact that it's Aug and kids go free shouldn't affect this show too much - it is for the whole month of Aug that the kids get to go free, isn't it? Or am I getting it wrong?

So if you’re the type of person who tries for a last minute deal (as I sometimes do), this isn’t the theatre or show to go for). Good to know, thanks for the heads up. I was going to try for an 'on the day' discount when I go in Aug.

I've got a ticket for this Thurs evening. I wish I didn't now. I'm thinking the same thing tbh. I only come to London once a year and have limited time to see shows so have to choose wisely. I'm wondering now whether to ditch my ticket for this and go see something else instead.

Wondering if anyone could help? I am wanting to book a ticket for this. But there two on their own and I am going on my own but it won’t let me have a single seat and I don’t want to buy both! Is there any getting around this? This was exactly the same problem I faced. I just called the box office and they sold me one of the pair without any questions, leaving a single seat. I don't get why you can't do it online if the box office are happy to let you leave a single seat.

Awww thank you guys for all the advice. Despite actively avoiding the show for so long I'm actually quite looking forward to it now, I'm intrigued to see if it lives up to the hype.

Great, thank you. I'm a bit of an American history nerd so I will definitely make sure I've got the book clear in my head before I go.

Thank you, that's helpful. I was to get the most out of my night since I sold my kidney to pay for the ticket.

OK, so I have managed to avoid knowing anything about this show for as long as it's been running, know the basic storyline but haven't heard any of the music. I am one of these people who dig in their heels when everyone tells me I have to go see something. Anyhoooo, my curiosity has finally got the better of me and I've booked a ticket for Aug. Here's my question - am I better going into in with fresh ears or should I listen to the music first? Any thoughts?

I was going to buy a ticket for a Thu matinee in Aug until I realised the same seat is much cheaper for the evening performances. I think I will pass! Now off to see what other shows have a Thu matinee.

I highly recommend the two seats alone at the back of the Dress Circle, row P. They're slightly further back than most but offer a good unobstructed view being raised higher than the rest of the dress circle. The legroom is better in these seats than in many towards the front of the circle. Oooh that's good to know cause I'm going by myself and for that very fact I was looking at P31 which seems to be a solo seat. EDIT - Nevermind, I've just read Theatremonkey's review of this seat.

Sorry if this has already been asked (or answered) but do we know how long Ashley is in this over the summer? I'm going down to see it mid Aug and I'm wondering if she will still be there or if Laura will be back. Thanks!

Awwww thanks so much. The week Natalie is off is the week I am going down and she was top of my list to see. Thank you for being so helpful.
