Got to meet Bryan Cranston after (God help the people still on the end of the queue to get their book signed) - I don’t think our brief conversation will go down in history as an all time great, but compared to Steven Berkoff, he is charm personified.

Ditto! Bit of a bugger I'm not seeing Network until the last night .. You don’t normally need to know anything about the production that the actors are talking about at this sort of thing - going by the queues to get in, I’m going to be waiting to get in longer than the interview will last... And there’s not even a bar that’s open to enjoy a beverage while I wait: Parsley was damn right, sack Norris now! 😡

I also got NIN this morning, and thats probably going to be it, but I've already booked for the Cure in Hyde Park in July so won't be too disappointed if I can't get tickets for them at the RFH.

Curated by Robert Smith: Meltdown There are apparently more events coming but I'm a bit surprised that no film or theatre events have been announced so far. Anyone else on here going, or planning to go to any of these shows? Members tickets went on sale this morning, I've got tickets for Manic Street Preachers and Mogwai but Nine Inch Nails had sold out by the time I got to log in, My Bloody Valentine didn't have any decent seats left and I draw the line at paying £65 to see Placebo or The Libertines. The queueing system was a shambles to be honest, 20 minutes after tickets were supposed to go on sale and the queue hadn't started moving, it then said we were moving before stopping for what seemed like an age after an hour or so before restarting - they need to stagger sales in future so you don't get an immense horde of people all trying at the same time to get tickets.

Morrissey at the London Palladium tonight - just...yes Bloody expensive but far better than I was expecting (and while there was no support act, there were videos of (amongst others) Tatu doing How Soon Is Now, James Brown and the Four Tops played before he came onstage: how did anyone ever think he is racist?

People are being a bit, I don't know - harsh on Steph McGovern, she appeared in an episode of House Of Fun so she must have kind of 'love' of acting at least (can't think she only did HoF for the money, it didn't exactly have HBO production values). Rather her than the usual suspects that get wheeled out to do these kind of things.

I'm surprised nobody has commented on the casting news yet. I have no idea who this Paul Anderson is, but I have a massive girl crush on Audrey Fleurot - I can't believe that of all the French performers they could have dragged across the channel, she's the one. I already considered trying to see her live on stage in Paris at some point, but doubted my French would be up for it. Seeing her in London now with subtitles is just amazing. Naturally I just booked, I'd book to watch her read the phone book. Paul Anderson is Arthur Shelby in Peaky Blinders, hes also been in The Revenant (amongst other things) - there was an interview with him in last nights Standard about this. I'm tempted to go if I can get a decently priced ticket, would want to be sat near the front but far enough back to be able to read the subtitles without too much effort.

This weeks is going to be the last printed edition: Independent
It was probably the late 90s when I last bought a copy of the 'proper' NME, and to tell the truth, the free edition had become an embarrassing parody of the old version to those of us who remember it in the 'glory' years, but I'll still be sad to see it go. I remember in the late 80s/early 90s, working in the West End and making a pilgrimage on my Tuesday lunchbreak to go and get the new copies of the NME and Melody Maker. All that will be left now is the likes of Q, Mojo and Uncut, which tend to veer more towards the 'classic rock' sort of listener.

No sign of any £15 front row seats on the dates I looked at, but got a £25 row A seat near the end of July.

Saw this last night from a seat at front of the slips (must make a note not to sit there again, yes it was cheap but I couldn't see what was happening on the extreme left hand of the stage without leaning right over, and it was so high up it was like being sat up in the roof of the O2) and while it wasn't quite the masterpiece I was expecting from some of the reviews I've read, I was still rather impressed.
It didn't really get off to a good start, mainly due to a large number of...well I'll be kind and call them idiots, but they were whooping with laughter throughout the first 10 minutes or so like they were watching a Ray Cooney farce (there was some drunken heckling from the circle when Cranston went and sat in the audience near the end as well), and some of the camera work reminded me of Drop The Dead Donkey rather than the film. But it slowly slipped into gear, and Cranston was indeed great, although the Henshall/Dockery scenes didn't really add that much to the story.
Not sure why some of the diners bothered, there was one gentleman in particular of an ,um, 'larger disposition' sat bang in the middle who seemed more intent on stuffing his face and chatting to his dining companion rather than watching what was going on or applauding as everyone else was, and what I could see of what they were eating didn't look like it was worth the price either.
I wouldn't mind seeing this again from a stalls seat, but I know that is unlikely unless I get lucky in the Friday Rush, and I think a lot of the novelty might wear off seeing it a second time.

After finally getting the code an hour after the 'presale' was supposed to open, and the code not being recognized at the first half a dozen attempts, have got tickets to see the Rolling Stones at the Olympic Stadium in May. A 'snip' at £100 including fees for standing, but I drew the line at paying £200 for a seat miles from the stage, ortons to go in the Golden Circle. Not expecting an amazing view of proceedings, but it has to be better than the view I had when I saw them in Hyde Park 5 years ago. Hyde Park is just about the worst stadium-sized venue in the country. It's extremely flat, and as the neighbours are disagreeable nimbies, the music is about as loud as a dropped pencil on the floor. There's zero point in attending a show there unless you have an overpriced GC ticket. The sound was actually pretty good when I saw the Stones there before, clear and loud, and I could see the whole stage, but the fact I didn't have one of the various gold/platinum/V.I.P. tickets on offer meant I was stood miles back from the stage looking at what (from a distance) looked like an ant playing a guitar. That combined with the total lack of organisation (there was supposed to be more than one stage but there were no signposts to show where they were and none of the stewards seemed to know where they might be either, and the queues to buy anything were ridiculous (queues of best part an hour to buy drinks - and any merchandise? fugett about it) meant I wasn't in a rush to see them play Hyde Park again, although I'm going to see The Cure there in July so I must be some sort of glutton for punishment.

Four more dates at the Royal Opera House in July announced : ROHMight try to get tickets, but they certainly won't be cheap (also tempted to try for tickets for The Rolling Stones when they go on sale but the price of those will make the PSB shows seem cheap as chips)

Unless its has a stellar casting along the lines of De Niro and Pacino, Waiting For Godot can be put to rest for a very long time.

Looking at those comments, I'm not feeling any enthusiasm for this at all - thinking I'll probably do a Parsley and not bother going.

Going to Lille with my father next month for the St. Patricks Day weekend, then going there again by myself to see the Jesus and Mary Chain in June, and have also booked to see the Human League in Brussels in October. Will see how funds go but hope to go to the U.S. before the end of the year, I have only ever been to NYC when I've gone there before (3 times) so would like to try somewhere different (thinking about LA, Miami or Chicago).

Looking at whats on offer, nothing really getting excited, but thats possibly (probably) me just being superficial and shallow because there are no casting announcements. I'll wait and see before committing to anything.

Saw Ian McKellen at the Q&A for A Touch Of Love last night at the BFI, when King Lear was mentioned, he said '100 performances' to which someone shouted out 'theres not many tickets left!' and Ian replied 'no!' in a not exactly jolly fashion, I got the impression that maybe he wasn't that keen to do as many as 100 performances of this...

Was the queue from hell when I tried booking at noon, just gone back and got in straight away, got row A stalls for early August without any trouble, but just wish I'd had the opportunity to pick my own seat. Expensive but still cheaper than No Mans Land (in the West End anyway).

Saw this last night and thought it was OK, without being anything spectacular. Michael Shannon, Richard Jenkins and Michael Stuhlbarg were all excellent, but I just thought the film missed that certain something to make it really come to life.
Personally I think Phantom Thread, Three Billboards and Dunkirk are all better films, but I can see this being the sort of thing the Academy really going for come Oscars night.
