I'd love to see Jack Wolfe (Next to Normal) as Orpheus and Marisha Wallace (Guys & Dolls) as Persephone. And I know this is completely outside the box (as he's not a musical theatre performer!) but Nick Cave has always been my dream Hades. Hermes and Eurydice are the hardest to fancast for me. Andre De Shields and Eva Noblezada are so iconic in these roles. Although we really want to see Jack Wolfe in a transfer of Next to Normal!

The music is still awesome and I'm still trying to identify the song at the start of Act 2 when they kiss (Wake Up by Arcade Fire comes later). Was it the Nine Inch Nails track, Something I can never have? Someone on Spotify has put together a playlist of the music: Yes, that's it! Brilliant! Thanks so much for this.

I know a lot of people will book for Harrelson and Serkis, personally I'm there for Louisa Harland, she stole the show in Derry Girls. Is there any indication of prices at all? And she's going on to work with Jeremy Herrin again on Long Day's Journey.

Well, I saw an encore screening tonight and thought it came across exceptionally well. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that it was the best stage to screen capture I've ever seen. It just caught the emotion and the claustrophobia and psychodrama of the story so well. I saw it at the Pinter and loved it but I actually think it was more affecting tonight. People sobbing away at the end. The acting is just off the scale and the chemistry between James Norton and Luke Thompson was sensational. The music is still awesome and I'm still trying to identify the song at the start of Act 2 when they kiss (Wake Up by Arcade Fire comes later).

No Curzon or Everyman in NI either.

Soho Place seems to have more of an in house policy. I'd say this will likely go to the Pinter or Duke of York's.

I saw a production of this at the Lyric in Belfast and enjoyed it. This new production seems very West End with the director and cast, but surprisingly it's being done at the Riverside Studios. Agree. This would be a pretty heavy weight cast for a west end run- so to do it in Hammersmith is… a choice. I think it's a very odd decision to do it off-West End, but good luck to them. It's a cracking play.

It seems a real missed opportunity not to have announced her at the launch.

Hoping we might get an announcement this week or next 🤞
Think only the Harold Pinter and Gielgud are due announcements soon. (And Soho Place if TLBT doesn't extend).

Will they fill the gap in April and May, I wonder?

They obviously thought it did well enough earlier in the year at the Phoenix to bring it back.

So a transfer has been confirmed behind the scenes? Anyone know where?

Is it a way of generating more sales for Long Day's Journey into Night? People can't get tickets for Bath or can't get there, but then they realise they can see BC in another play in London... No, totally different producers. I thought the full page ads were odd for such a short run.

Was he in line for the Alun Armstrong role in Breeders? Only one I can think of.

So glad I caught this one last time at the cinema today. Although I personally didn't like the way it was filmed. It felt more like a traditional film or TV series with lots of close ups. A bit too stylised for me. I think I prefer the way NT Live productions are presented where it almost feels like you are sat in the audience of the theatre. I said it earlier in this thread too but Luke Thompson really was a standout for me in this production. Can't wait to see more of him and what he does next. Did they ditch all the nudity then?

Saw a trailer for The Reckoning tonight with Coogan as Jimmy Savile. Looks like he's going to be terrific in it. Starts 9th Oct.

A lovely actor, so magnetic.
I was backstage once in the small green room bar of the Gaeity theatre in Dublin where he was starring in Juno and the Paycock and when he came in after the performance, I was totally awestruck. A very young Cillian Murphy was in the show and in the bar that night too.
RIP to the great Gambon.

Went to see it. Found it pretty tedious. There was about 10 good minutes about 2/3 of the way through. If there'd been an interval I'd have left. That seems to be the general consensus, unfortunately.

I never saw this but would love to, and the new touring cast looks great. Does anyone think a West End return could be on the cards? I see the hip team Wessex Grove are co-producing.
