The use of the term "baby boomer" shows a level of maturity yet to be reached in the writer and undermines the attempted critique.
Your response doesn't clarify what the purpose of your response is?

Bad cinderella is well..Bad
Not going to repeat a lot of what others have said but its a confused book who doesn't know what it wants to be. They've tried to make ALW's music style "relevant" for today and it falls flat. Would've been better to stick to what ALW is good at or actually find some other person. The whole thing came across as that actually - like a baby boomer woke up one day and decided to write a "cool" musical....
CHF has some ways to go. Prince sebastian was o.k. The cast gave their all with the material they got given so can't blame them.
I loved the revolve though, that was fun.
I can't see them making enough improvements to make it a hit. SHould go back to workshop mode.
In sayign all this, even if its a dud, i still support anyone buying a ticket (cheap/discounted reccommended) to support the industry at the moment.

Just watched the video of Tutty singing ‘Waving’ and have to say I’m a bit disappointed. He’s very musical theatre. I thought they’d have chosen someone with a rougher edge to their voice like Platt, but he sounds like a pretty standard west end warbler. Maybe in performance it will work better.
He's worked hard with the team....if you're worried about being too "musical theatre", its not when you watch it.

Yes I would say that even though it is the first preview that the show is in great shape. Preview challenges are there (timing with music/sound/mics/nuances with characterisation etc) but having been with the show since the off-broadway tryouts, it will be humming after a week or two. Have to say that Sam sings 'For Forever' with the nuances expected rather than in the video released (so less perfect and really adding the emotion) I applaud the producers for going with a largely "unknown" cast and really nurturing the talent out there. For those who are still looking for tickets, they are still looking to squeeze in extra seating so watch out as some really good seats will be popping up soon across all dates. The promotional strategy will largely follow what they've done with Mary Poppins to date - the video/additional release dates today sold c100 tickets in the hours since they went live (although not sure if thats good or not). Plus who can't resist a good hat

Wow. Can't believe how quickly tickets go on TodayTix Rush. Sat there waiting at 9:55, 10:00 hits, click through and before I can reduce ticket quantity to 1 the button goes to standby and all tickets 'held'. Eep.
Sorry - that was probably me - i got a ticket for tonight

Final day at edinburgh - wish i was staying longer!
Meek - Travese Theatre - think handsmaid tale / crucible - i'm not fully convinced by this..slick production but not something i would run out / return to again. However, worth a look if you're at the fringe for a bit.
Ben Hanlin: 50 * Bens mission is to carry out 50 tricks by the time the hour is up. Some tricks i've seen before (& pretty much know how its done). Some tricks actually failed (and he admitted that it didn't work) - I counted two tricks that failed.
Be aware for those who don't like audience interaction...he will call/ use people in the audience for tricks (which makes sense). I get called out for the music trick which involved several tricks (one of them involved having a mark on my hand randomly after he drew it....took me about an hour or so but i finally figured out how it got there!). For those who have yet to see it, it was put there when we had a nice manly hug to ensure we "connected"
All in all, good entertainment but no one magic trick that i was fully amazed by..felt more like a gameshow/personal challenge.
Tom Hougton: The honourable
Posh boy comedian - his father is a lord and he lives at the tower of london as his dad looks after it for the queen (its true - i googled). I actually quite enjoyed this as most of the comedians you see on the fringe are working class / middle class comedians and a lot of the humour is centered around that. Tom brings the "posh" perspective but its clear that he doesn't pay much attention to that world and skewers it mercilessly.
Someone to put on the list to watch

Underground Railway Game
VERY provocative play - i would actually love to have an indepth discussion of what i just witnessed. Be prepared to be feel uncomfortable (and also be comfortable with nudity). I would recommend going to see this.

Recommended Musical:
* 'My Left/Right foot' - i predict that the book will get expanded and eventually it will make its way into the west end (one of the smaller playing houses would be best). Hilarious and very polished for an ed fringe production in my opinion. It does highlight / raise the inclusion / diversity message however, funnily enough, does not include any other actors of ethnicities. This is the only musical i've seen whilst up here that i would heartily recommend
Recommended Plays: *After the Cut - really poignant / heartbreaking play about the future where healthcare is not accessible for all - wife has learnt she has got cancer and can't pay for it. Husband learns how to do the surgery in order to save his wife. Masterful acting in the role - not seeking to be judgemental, theres a reason why this is nominated for a social impact award
* Ninas got news by Frank Skinner - wont say too much as it will spoil the play but i thought it was a harmless, effective hour of a comedic play. Good acting and despite some of the reviews, have enjoyed it
* Finding Fassbender - nice hour of a story - ending still needs work. From the writer of Skin the Cat?
Recommended Comedians: *Alex Edelman - such a smart comedian - loved loved him and its not just one hour of jokes, its one of jokes tied neatly into a meaningful view at racism. Alex is a jewish comedian who decided to attend a Nazi meeting. I loved him so much i went twice (second time because i had an hour to kill)
* Ed Gamble - he's pretty much sold out now but you can tell he is one of the best in the business. Talks about the time they got stuck at NYC in a blizzard (was on BBC news) and also about his Diabetes. Solid hour of entertainment
* Jake Lambert - future of british comedy - not quite there yet but worth a look. His first fringe show
Things to avoid (I didn't particulary enjoy them) * One Life Stand - sort of get it - its a bit overhyped * Bare -amateur * Sticks and Stones - so weird
I still have a couple of days shows left to watch so will fill in with other recommendations!

Does anyone else think that little Charlotte looks like the Queen and has her mannerisms? There was just one second of when her mum stopped down to tell her something and she acknowledged in the way we know the Queen does with a slight tilt of the head and firm mouth. Brilliant. I’ve seen a few but I suspect that was my last Royal Wedding. poor Princess Eugenie...everyone forgets shes getting married later on this year too

i think this will be marmite...
I saw it last night..my very first Chess production as well...so was very excited that it was going to be this production.
And unfortunately it wasn't my cup of tea..i was sat in the dress circle and the applause and reactions around me were quite muted
Alexandra Burke, i love her but she seemed to struggle with the low range and i was gutted as i know she can really kill the songs. The production seemed a bit confused on a whole but the whole cast really gives it all they would.
The 'one night in bangkok' scene was a replica of miss saigon but seemed like it was only done with 50% of the effort / quality as saigon.
Highlight was 'I know him so well' which in hindsight stuck out from the production as it didn't seem to fit in but also generated the longest applause of the night
Unfortunately wouldn't go back again but still a very slick production especially with the visuals

i would agree the lower numbered seats on the side could miss some action ...but nothing i would say is detrimental to missing crucial action. Most is played centre, front stage.

sat next to her during Blithe Spirit - has an infectious laugh but was very, dare i say it, feeble when walking to her seat - grabbing onto all the chairs and shuffling as one does when she is at her age.
How she is going to be on stage will be interesting

Previously (years ago) advertised Hunger Games theatre site, seems to have sprung new life recently.
New producers from the Kings Cross Theatre (Lazarus / Railway Children) seems to have taken the mantle up! Planning for c1500 size theatre venue...
Will be interesting to see what they make of it!

I always hope they would turn Pine into a BBC / ITV /Channel 4 Xmas Show...one day..with the same cast i reckon! would be magical.
I was thinking they could bring back Hello/Goodbye and have the events revolve around the Xmas season..that would make it better!

This was my first follies - never seen it before nor heard about it before (don't shoot..)
So I grabbed a last minute ticket as i'm a bit of a imelda staunton fan...
I have to say it all was a bit meh to me. I was expecting a huge climax at the end and the drama was removed with the dream land follies sequence and then it ended quickly after that so i was left a bit unsatisfied with it all. The younger versions of themselves seem a bit unfulfilled in their use (almost a waste of some of the talent on the stage).
A solid 3 star but i wouldn't be rushing back to this production (or future ones).

Saw the first preview last night.
Story of two writers from two different type generations being stuck alone at a writing hideaway during a blizzard with no communications and the evolution of their relationship.
At first glance, I came out of the play thinking, 'so what?', however, i peeled back the layers a bit, the play is quite smart in communicating how two generational lives can come together and evolve. The final scene was evil as it left me wondering what decision she would finally make.
The play does have a lot of extended sex scenes, including pants being ripped off. Theo James gets completely naked with his modesty saved by a seashell.
As for a preview, the scene transitions were clunky, the first one took so long that Theo shouted "theres a lot going on stage right now" before quickly shutting up i think when he realised he could be heard. The interval went for 30mins instead of 20.
All in all, an o.k play. I wouldn't rush back (unless i wanted to see Theo in his birthday suit again) haha!
