I wonder - given that they've specified that the 2hr 10mins running time is specifically for Preview 1, do you think they'll try both with and without an interval through previews and then decide which works best by press night?

Oh dear. Sounds like another Aladdin. Can't say I'm surprised considering how much it was apparently fast-tracked through pre-production, but I too was hoping for something for individual, especially with Michael Grandage at the helm (although I wonder how much the Disney producers impose their own decisions).

I agree, Dave25, we've seen time and time again that people are willing to sacrifice the quality of musical performance in order to make big bucks. I guess we just have to hope that whoever ends up calling the shots for this film (if it even happens) does their best to preserve the beauty of this score.

Anna Kendrick as Betty would probably bring in an audience that wouldn't instinctively flock to the film. Actually, Close/Gyllenhaal/Kendrick is casting I'd be very happy with.
Edit: on second thought, Anna Kendrick probably isn't a big enough name. Oh well. You'd probably need an actress of Emma Stone/Amy Adams levels of fame, both of whom have demonstrated that they can sing to a pretty decent level.

Ooh I love the chorus vocals that they've added towards the end! With Stephen Oremus as music arranger/supervisor, this was always gonna sound incredible. Plus from the cheers it sounds like the ice creation is quite spectacular too. I've got to be honest, I rolled my eyes when they announced they were taking the film to the stage, but from everything I've seen/heard so far it's actually turning out to be a fantastic musical in its own right.

How exactly does one arrange a refund from ATG? I can't see anything on their website saying what to do - do we just have to wait until they officially announce the tour's been pulled as I assume they'll have to email all the ticket holders.

Seriously I clicked on a random day in Feb that wasn't weekend or Friday and the best I got was row A stall for £25. I can't find any £15 tickets at all. I feel so confused. I believe someone has said previously on this thread that the £15 front row tickets are only during previews, after press night the front row goes up to £25

The tour in the early 00s with the 3D films for the races was probably the first show I ever saw that really left a lasting impression on me - I can still remember how in awe I was, so I would absolutely love to see this return in a big, spectacular production a la Bochum. Unfortunately I can't make the workshop performances, but I would be intrigued to learn what changes are being made. It seems ALW has never really been happy with the show given how often changes have been made.

Last night a guy called Simon Gordon was playing Strat. Insert in programme with his name, but no bio at all. Quick Twitter search - apparently he's been brought in as a Strat understudy (in case Purkiss also off?) Maybe he's being rehearsed for Toronto. I think I saw on twitter that Ruben Van Keer, who is currently the cover for Strat after the alternate (Ben Purkiss), is leaving the show after the London engagement and not going to Toronto. This guy must be his replacement.

From the official twitter account, it looks like last night was some sort of gala performance where the cast mingled and some minor celebs were in - any clues as to why? Showing off Marisha before announcing her takeover maybe?

I wouldn't be too hasty in making decisions about whether to see this based on reviews of the broadway production - this is a much smaller theatre so will be staged very differently, and there is a whole new character in this version so it is likely to be quite different in terms of book and staging (although the music may not change a lot).
Personally I'm waiting to see if Day Seats/Rush Tickets are announced - I'd love to see it but don't really want to pay upwards of £30 for the cheap seats since I'm on a student budget!

Who wouldn't want 15 minutes of belting A New Argentina from a multitude of Eva's all in one video? Of course you do, you're only human! Well, looks like taking it down the octave is less common than I thought it was! Whoever said it before was right, it completely loses the thrill and impact when it's not sung it that high octave. (also I've never seen or heard the film version but from that short clip it's quite shocking how far down it was transposed for Madonna)

When I saw the first preview I was disappointed to discover that Eva's parts in 'A New Argentina' ('He supports you/For he loves you...') have been transposed down to (most likely) Madonna's key. They haven't changed it... They've just lowered it for Emma It believe that they haven't changed the key of A New Argentina, but Emma is singing those sustained high phrases (he supports you, etc.) an octave down. I'm sure there are people who know the show and it's history better than me, but I think that it is not uncommon for actresses to do this since those phrases are some of the highest in the score.

I've just seen that this has now extended to 2 September. Out of interest, when was it originally due to end in Chichester? It only extended by a week, the final performance was originally the 26th of August
