UK tour leads have been cast - apparently everyone will be gagged by the choice for Christian Duncan James? Gareth Gates? Fortunately they’ve only ever played boy band members on stage. Not been in a real life one

If we’re talking blondes I’d love to see Olivia Barnett-Legh in the role.

I wouldn't have thought this is a show that would need a name. But if they do, shove an ex boybander in as the Duke. Satine and Christian carry the show, you need talented trained people for that. It doesn’t need a star name and that is the problem, the couple of times I have seen it I have been sorely underwhelmed by the 2 leads to the point I would say they were awful. The show is selling out and has made an absolute tonne of money in the West End and everywhere else. For a producer it is a nice problem to have.

Only in UK productions (so far). In America and Germany, Ashley Loren, JoJo, Marcella Adema... to name a few, have been principal Satines, and they are white.

That was my first thought…part of Debois band in &J. Timing could work as he'll be in Titanique until early March, though that could extend.....

For anyone interested, I did manage to get a Rush ticket to see the new cast last week. Mid Stalls, so the view was excellent, although I can't say the same thing about all of the audience. All very smooth, although I'd want to give the new leads a bit of settling in time. Matt Trevorrow as on as Pierre, being his usual adorable self. Hopefully, I'll get to see Mark Samaras on as a swing at some point. Ross Chisari was on as Santiago and did great. Dancing with lifts in his shoes can't be easy. This show is in safe hands, but I'll likely give this a break for a month or two before I get back again.

Last night to celebrate 3 years running in the West End, between 5-6pm there was a queue of people outside the Piccadilly Theatre and they ran some sort of tombola where contained within the ball, a prize.
The woman two in front of me won free tickets.
Others were walking away with free vinyl's and other forms of merchandise. I would have preferred the tickets but I picked up a free tote bag.

Caught the matinee show today thanks to a rush ticket. It’s been on the list for ages to catch but shan’t be hurrying back. All the charm, heart and soul from the film has been replaced with a garish, over amplified mess. Not once did I believe Christian and Satine were in love and there were far too many knowing winks to the audience when the next line from a pop hit appeared.
Urgh - so wanted to like it with loving the film but really, really disappointed with it.
Having said all that - I spent most of the time watching the set (which was fantastic) and the hardworking ensemble. But didn’t give a fig about any of the leads at all
