It’s been quite high profile this week so I would expect it to be busier.

I got the email, and somehow got a position near the front of the queue, so was admitted within the first minute. There wasn't much left and some dates had no availability. I did manage to snag a Stalls seat near the front for Wednesday's matinee, so that will be a nice change from seeing this from the Dress Circle. After buying, you are still able to go back and buy again. I didn't buy again, but I did check was available. If anything, there were more seats showing at 12:30 or so than there were at 12:00. Top 500, you should definitely be able to get singles (but not necessarily ones in positions you want). Pairs are possible but less likely. What are the odds that the Wednesday matinee was the date I was looking for!! Haha enjoy:) kicking myself for leaving the queue but oh well, there’s always next time …

For any MR regulars: What is the best way of getting tickets for this (other than booking normally). It never seems to be on Rush, TodayTix discounts of TKTS. Is there a lottery? Do they ever do dynamic pricing? Are certain dates/nights better/easier? Thanks.

Works in a similar way to the National Theatre Friday rush, it's also on a Friday but slightly earlier at Noon. You get emailed the link to the queue for it at some point in the morning, join it around 12 and then you'll be able to see what is available for the following weeks shows. With any of the seats available through it at £29 each.

Great. Thanks so much! Just avoid the back of the dress circle! It is just too ‘out of it’ and the overhang makes it worse. Take the upper over bad dress seats. Enjoy.

Oh no, I really didn't like it. It doesn't have any of the heart or charm of the film. Left in the interval.
Didn't help a group of rowdy women behind me talked non stop.

Not just me then…it really doesn’t have any heart. That’s my biggest criticism. It should be breaking our hearts when it really just batters you with noise & movement. Some clever mash ups, and Melissa James was good when I went, but otherwise a big thumbs down.

It's why I haven't been back since the first preview (the two dreadful leading performances in the first cast didn't help) Its one of my favourite films because it's so powerful - risking everything for love and the stakes are life and death. This reduces it to cheap laughs and mugging every time a new pop song comes in, which the film never did.

The 2 current leads are WAY better than the dreadful originals

I hated the film and really didn’t want to see this because of the film but my friend really wanted to go for her birthday and I absolutely loved it
Tried the film again after seeing the show and still didn’t like it
We had seats just behind the can can seats and they were great although you do miss the effect of Santine’s entrance as it’s over before you realise it’s happening from those seats

The modern pop songs don't always fit, or sound corny - it just took me out of the story every time.
The singing was beautiful from the two leads.

I love the film and loved the show, but they are pretty different things.
The show is just a fun, brilliantly executed show. The type of which we don't see much of these days and what many will think of when wanting to see a 'west end/broadway show'.
The film has more heart and emotion and is darker in tone.

A really fun time, and I'm somebody who hates the Luhrmann film! It's not a great thought-provoking piece, but sometimes you want something easily consumable and fun (mostly).
Tanisha and Dom were both absolutely excellent as leads here, although Dom does still lean a bit Mormon in his accent at times! Both have long careers with much acclaim ahead of them, for my money.
Four stars from me.

Just noticed that at the Piccadilly, weekday matinee has now changed from Wednesdays to Thursdays - that must have been quite recently?

Saw the show tonight. What a spectacle! It start’s by walking into the theatre and seeing the beautiful set. Clearly this is a show that brings people in from all walks of life. The show started with the question to not sing and/or dance along until the end of the show.
We had Tanisha Spring as Santine who has an astounding voice and played the role very good. Her chemistry with Dom Simpson as Christian is very good. Dom has a very beautiful voice and sung his longs out tonight. Craig Ryder was on as Harold Zidler and was doing an amazing job.
The thing with Moulin Rouge for me is the usage of modern pop songs. As good as they sometimes fit, it doesn’t hit home for me. Most people have their own story with these songs and it takes away any emotional attachement to the story.
The show itself looks amazing. The ensemble were really living their best life and performing the show with so much energy.
I had a lot of fun and enjoyed seeing the show. Could really recommend this if you want to have a joyfull night out!

I managed to get a table seat through the Friday rush. From a view point, it's the perfect place to sit. A slight annoyance is that I booked the aisle seat, but the numbers were the other way around when I arrived, so I was sat one seat in. I suspect this isn't usually an issue as they sell them in pairs. I had enough room anyway, but those seats are really uncomfortable.
I haven't seen Dom on as Christian much, but he's very good. Angela was on as Satine and she is stunning on the role.
I did finally get to see Craig Ryder as Zigler. A very different portrayal to Matt Rixon, harsher at some points, more sympathetic at others. Lovely to see. He's also a brilliant Duke.
A great night of entertainment. Even better, Zack flirted with me at the end. What more can you want from a night of entertainment?

Enjoyed this on Tuesday . I had previously seen it in Melbourne which is a far superior theatre and a stage much wider so it did seem very busy at times as they tried to squash everything in to what looks like a small space. Having said that the cast were great and the staging is good given the confines of the small stage.

Saw this earlier in July, first time, wanted to catch it before it closes. Didn’t really have any expectations apart from having enjoyed other Baz Luhrman things in the past.
MR was not for me, and it would only be three stars. I haven’t truly understood why jukebox musical label could be a negative until this show, my fault for being unprepared for the belted medleys. I could see that other people enjoyed that aspect a lot, so that was just me.
My problem, though, was the volume. It was so, so loud. I guess it might matter where you sit - I was in the gods - but the volume was painfully loud. I bring earplugs to clubs and concerts as a matter of course, but I have never before sat in a theatre and longed for earplugs. I had my fingers in my ears at some point, and ended up putting my phone earplugs in just to have some protection, but I did consider leaving at the interval to save my ears.
Was I unlucky with my seat, or is this show ridiculously loud on purpose? Would love to know, and to know if there are any other shows that are similarly loud.

Totally agree on the volume - MJ and Starlight also will also need you to bring earplugs!
