I might be in the minority but I love when the sound is "loud", and you can really "feel" it. All part of the theatrical experience in my eyes (obviously need the sound quality to be there to hear the vocals etc.) - I actually loved the sound design in both Moulin Rouge & MJ.

I just thought that, in both cases, they replaced any real emotion with over stimulation.

Saw this earlier in July, first time, wanted to catch it before it closes. Didn’t really have any expectations apart from having enjoyed other Baz Luhrman things in the past. MR was not for me, and it would only be three stars. I haven’t truly understood why jukebox musical label could be a negative until this show, my fault for being unprepared for the belted medleys. I could see that other people enjoyed that aspect a lot, so that was just me. My problem, though, was the volume. It was so, so loud. I guess it might matter where you sit - I was in the gods - but the volume was painfully loud. I bring earplugs to clubs and concerts as a matter of course, but I have never before sat in a theatre and longed for earplugs. I had my fingers in my ears at some point, and ended up putting my phone earplugs in just to have some protection, but I did consider leaving at the interval to save my ears. Was I unlucky with my seat, or is this show ridiculously loud on purpose? Would love to know, and to know if there are any other shows that are similarly loud. Totally agree on the volume - MJ and Starlight will also need you to bring earplugs!

Funnily enough, I got tickets for family members earlier in the week. They said exactly the same thing about the music volume. But also, the theatre was really hot and had three show stops, so that didn't help. Apart from that, they enjoyed it.
The music volume hasn't ever bothered me as it's that kind of show. I did see this the week before last from the table seats and I do like the close view, even if some of the angles are rather intimidate. I'm sure Davide was trying to seduce me, and Zack was his usual lovely self (I now have to work out if I can fit in a visit to Hello Dolly in Paris). Both Dom and Tanisha were on. I've had great difficulty catching them together, but they are so good as a pair. I also got Craig Ryder as Harold Zidler, which was quite a treat. Hopefully I'll get back before cast change.

Do we know of anyone who’s supposedly leaving/staying? Last year there were lots of rumours floating about that all ended up being true but haven’t heard a thing this time around.
I assumed Dom would be staying as he stayed at bom for so long but now I’m not so sure?

Tanisha is definitely leaving - I’m sure she said her last show was 12th Oct when she performed at Jamie Muscatos concert

Yeah she’s leaving. Christian kind of looks like Dom? I had heard that Dom was staying, but that’s just from other theatregoers

Very excited to see Natalie Kassanga as the new Satine, she was an amazing Irene in Crazy for You! And also really pleased to see Craig Ryder promoted to full time Zidler, saw him cover several times and he was really good. Good to see Dom and Ben Richards staying! And with Mark Samaras joining and Matt Trevorrow staying a bit of a newsies reunion is going on - they've swapped the streets of NYC for the boulevards of Paris! And Alex Tranter too, I wonder if he will cover Zidler/Duke? All in all quite exciting! www.whatsonstage.com/news/exclusive-moulin-rouge-reveals-new-west-end-company_57286/

Craig Ryder is excellent, so glad he’s getting promoted. Mark Samaras is always fun. Always good to see Matteo Johnson as well. Looks like another strong cast.
I did get to see the current cast last week and got one more Craig Ryder Duke show which was a bonus, as well as swing Matt Trevorrow being on. For a Newsies fan with a table seat, it’s always a treat to have both Zack and Matt dancing in front of you. Hopefully Matt has a regular role now as well.

I have a friend who has recently started working at the Piccadilly. This is due to close before the tour begins.

I have a friend who has recently started working at the Piccadilly. This is due to close before the tour begins. With all due respect, I think your friend has either misunderstood or is pulling your leg. They are doing very well at the Piccadilly and cast change is momentary. I doubt they'd get a new cast for only October - April. My guess is at least until Oct 2025, if not longer.

I have a friend who has recently started working at the Piccadilly. This is due to close before the tour begins. What??!? I thought it was doing fine. I would be pretty surprised if they do this as I went to the midweek matinee recently, which some shows really struggle to fill, but it was near enough full. Ridiculous pricing also (I paid £70 to be in the grand circle). Are you sure your friend isn’t getting confused with the booking period that only currently goes to February?

It is not closing anytime soon. It is still selling a lot of tickets and your friend is clearly confused.

They barely even discount on the day, especially matinees.

We needn't worry about Moulin Rouge ticket sales yet because TodayTix haven't done a £15 flash sale for it yet. As soon as that happens, we know it's in danger!

If it was doing badly- they’d be stunt casting it by now.

Bohemian seats now on TodayTix as a daily rush! I suspect it will be impossible to get those excellent discounted table seats any more, which is a shame.

I’ve never found them to be discounted, they always seem to go full price, they don’t seem to sell immediately like they used to but they still sell. 2 years ago they were £99 and they’re now ~£150/£160 in 2025.

I went last night. We were kept outside ages due to a tech issue and so it was a very late finish. Luckily I’m not working today. Audience seemed pretty full.
Had an absolute blast, loved it in all its cheesy glory. Was sad it took me so long to get around to it.
