What happens if you don't have a passport or driving licence?
I expect it's gonna be a nightmare at the theatre.

So those without government issued photo ID arent welcome nor are people allowed to buy tickets as gifts unless they are going to attend the performance as well

During the Priority booking period, there is a strictly-enforced limit of 4 tickets per person, per booking period.
For the general on-sale on 30 January, the limit rises to 6 tickets per person, per booking period.
-
So if I bought 4 on the 16th Jan, would I be able to buy another 2 on the 30th?

Weird that Matt Hemley's tweets say that ticket prices POST previews start at £27.50 - the website lists nothing below £37.50 post previews, and £32.50 during previews. Guessing Matt just put a 2 instead of a 3? Hope he realises soon because because finding out there are no tickets under £30 (excluding the daily lottery) may make a big difference for some!

The fact that people pay £200 for musical theatre
Where people sing miked
Sums up the current state of the world
Totally hilarious
Wages are falling
People are dying in the NHS
I bet this show won't cause the frenzy it has done in the US

Eh, they can't win. Americans complained that their producers allowed scalping and now people are complaining that they're not.

£200 for a premium ticket?!? They obviously think the demand will be good, I would NEVER pay £200 for a show!
I don't think this will have the demand America does where it is sold out completely. I think it'll sell out for the first few months but then the hype will die down.

Hilarious!

Many opera houses have far better accoustics than most West End theatres. The noise created by moving set pieces, smoke machines/hazers and fans on lighting and computer equipment is actually fairly loud and would most likely be easy to hear otherwise. Also, it vastly improves the sound quality of the show when you have the ability to mix a lead performers voice over the voices of 15 ensemble members at certain parts in shows. There's also a number of different types of singing used in musical theatre that you don't see in opera (Belting for example) that require performers to sing in a slightly different part of the register than an opera singer would do. Don't get me wrong, it's a hell of a lot of money we're talking here, but I feel there are a number of differences between operas and musical theatre that people tend to deliberately overlook when knocking musical theatre...

It'll be cheaper for New Yorkers to fly to London and buy a premium ticket than it will be for them to buy a ticket on the resale market from a scalper. I expect there will be a lot of American tourists in the audience.

Could those of us who receive the email post here and confirm it arrived? When I read the WoS article I panicked as it seems to be saying the priority emails have gone out but I haven't received anything :/

Eh, they can't win. Americans complained that their producers allowed scalping and now people are complaining that they're not. Not complaining about them taking steps to prevent scalping at all. Just seems harsh to me having to take govenment issued photo ID and them to not allow buying of tickets as gifts.

I think (hope) it's just a bit of dodgy wording

Just looked at the FAQs and it's apparently appropriate for ages 10+, but children under the age of 4 will not be admitted, so there may be the odd bored 5 year-olds to cheer us all up.
"Since HAMILTON contains some strong language, the show is appropriate for ages 10+. Children under 4 are not permitted into the theatre. Children under 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult."

I think it'll sell out for the first few months but then the hype will die down. I think you're being naive. The producers are aware of the demand more than we are and the website even states 'We expect demand for HAMILTON tickets to be exceptionally high.' Remember that Americans can fly over and see it for £600 cheaper.
