Yes if you're arranging with different people when to go, the more notice you have to sort dates etc the better. Again it's far easier for those within a short Tube ride to be flippant and say 'it's not hard you just buy tickets' but when travel and/or multiple people are involved you need more notice than the day before!

I think dates make a huge difference at least to some of us. I don't live in London, not even in the UK, so need to ask for holiday dates and book a flight and accommodation. So yea, shooting in the dark is no fun

If I were just booking for myself, I could make my plans with half an hour notice to check my own availability. If I lived far away enough from London that I'd need to book time off work, I'd need another couple of hours to get that confirmed. If I were booking for more than just myself, I'd need an additional 24-48+ hours to co-ordinate with my friends depending on how many there were, how busy they were, where they lived, and what arrangements they needed to make. If the producers were going to introduce some new ideas for diminishing potential for touting, I'd want another hour or two to thoroughly read their plans and discuss 'em with anyone concerned, or longer if there was anything ambiguous that I had to query. There's all kinds of factors involved for people, and it's sort of inward-looking and smug to say how you wouldn't need a couple of days therefore it's silly for other people to express concern that they're running out of time to receive the email in good time for planning.

Good point re: the additional booking terms. In this case actually, one of the people I'm booking with has substantial travel and childcare issues to factor in and SHOULD there be reason she can't come at the last minute (say child is unwell, or travel cancellations happen) we'd want to know that ticket return is possible. And will have to consider WHO books for maximum security.
Plus in general booking SO far in advance as one has to with Hamilton and similar there's so many factors to consider to think 'Can I travel to London on x date 9 months from now, and can everyone else I'm booking with too?'

I'm quite relieved that I'm Master (Mistress?) of Booking Insanely Far Ahead as ali973 doesn't fail to remind me from time to time I mentioned before (months ago) that I have a ticket for May 2018. I booked Harry Potter 16 months ago. I have four London trips for 2017 firmly pencilled in as far as October. So bring it on, I'm ready for you, Hamilton 2018!

I'm estimating an early December Hamilton trip for myself, so that would be a less than eleven months advance booking. That's NOTHING, guys.

Discussed with friends already what they are willing to pay and we picked a few periods when we can go. So no problem there. Just hoping that I am not in a meeting.

I'm being ambitious and want to attend the first preview. See. this is something I wouldn't dare to do as a traveller from abroad. I'd be far too worried that the first preview will be cancelled due to whatever and then I'm stuck as I couldn't just swap it for two days later but would have to wait at least for 2-3 months until I'm back in London, possibly even longer if that next trip is already fully booked up. Which brings this back to the original point: If they would publish dates for the first preview and the opening night, it would make it easier for me to decide how to combine a suitable date for the show with a suitable time for me to go to London.

It's possibly a terrible mentality to have but I'd much rather wait and see it later in the run, away from shall we say the more 'passionate' fans who I anticipate attending the first few shows....wanting to hear the show rather than screaming is my personal preference.

I signed up last year...never had a thing back to confirm...is that the norm? You should have had an email back from hamilton@delfontmackintosh.co.uk towards the end of October. Check your spam folder and also the "Promotions" folder if using GMail

They really are leaving it late to give us all details of the priority booking given it opens on Monday! Just double-checked and found my confirmation email so breathing a sigh of relief. I'm just going to try to get two tickets then figure out later who gets the other one!

I signed up last year...never had a thing back to confirm...is that the norm? I'm sure I signed up last year as well but never received an email. I'm really hoping it just went to my spam as this automatically clears after a certain period :/ It will be really frustrating if something went wrong! But oh well.

I'm sure I signed up for priority booking too but can't find a confirmation email. Not going to panic until people start reporting getting the booking detail emails, though.

Nothing too surprising or shocking which is good. Already anxious about the pre-sale.

£89.50 pseudo top price.
Will 2017 be the year when we see £100 for the first time?

Turn up early to your performance, guys, it's going to take a while to swipe a card and check ID for every booking! While it all does sound like a lot of hassle, it seems a lot of thought has gone into it and I applaud the effort to cut all those greedy touts out. So I don't mind rocking up early, credit card and ID in hand
